Review : Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free BB Clear Stick

Hello everyone!

Here's a BB from a widely popular brand, Maybelline! This was sent to me by Maybelline a few weeks back. It's one of the three BB's that the brand offers. This is suited for oily to combination skin.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free BB Clear Stick
This is Php 289.00 per stick.

It's quite unusual to see a BB that is in solid form. I was curious on how this would work on my skin since I do have oily skin.

Product info from the press release:

The packaging is very simple. It has the same design and color as the other BB Creams in tube form from the brand.

It has SPF 21 and PA+++.

The shade I got is 01 Fresh. This shade is closer to my skin compared to the other shade, Radiance.

Here's a closeup of the stick. I have used the stick twice before I took the photo above.

Swatch on arm

And below are pictures on how it works on my cheek:

Bare cheek

With the BB

Concealed dark spots and topped of with powder

I'm not a fan of the smell... it's kinda... chemical-ish. But it's subtle so you can barely notice it a couple of minutes after application.

It has a matte, warm beige tone that is quite suitable to my skin. It has a medium, buildable coverage. Though it is buildable, I don't layer it since I notice that it doesn't blend well on my skin if I put too much. It looks too caky for some reason, especially if you have dry patches like on areas where I have pimples that I want to dry out (see my jaw area). It makes the flaky areas too visible.

It feels really light on the skin. Lasting power is pretty decent and it does help control oil. My face looks good in around 3-4 hours before I have to blot off the excess oil.

But for people with better skin condition than I do, it works really well. My friend, Aleja, really loves this BB Stick. Here's what she said about it:

"It's perfect. It's like magic!! It super blends well into my skin. Parang wala akong make-up pero meron. It doesn't feel heavy on my face. The best concealer-foundation. EVER!!!"

Btw, Aleja is a contestant on the on-going Maybelline BB Top Model Search. Please vote for her! Just go to the application on Facebook and type her name (Aleja) and vote! If she is included to the top 3 with the highest votes, I'll have a giveaway where I give out BB Creams to my readers! :D

So back to the review, below is a summary of what I think of it:

What I LIKE:

- Affordable
- Feels light on skin
- Has SPF 21 and PA +++ (Would appreciate higher SPF though)
- Locally available
- Suitable for combination-oily skin
- Shade is close to skin
- Easy to blend
- Matte finish
- Medium and buildable coverage
- Packaging

What I DON'T LIKE:

- The smell
- Makes the dry areas more visible
- Can look cakey when layered
- Only 2 shades available

So that's my review on Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free BB Clear Stick.
What do you think of this product? Have you tried their other 2 BB Creams?

NOTD : Bobbie Cocktail Hour Gradation Nail Polish

Hello guys!

Last September, when I celebrated my birthday, one of the gifts I received was a set of nail polishes. This gift was from Carizza, of http://www.carizzachua.com/. Thank you! :)

So I used it for the first time today and it reminds me of the sets I have used before from Etude House. I guess this is a much, much, more affordable version (I'm just not sure what the exact cost of this one is).

So below are pictures of the info on the box:

The box contains these three nail polishes:

So I followed the instructions and applied Shaker 1 first...

Twist 2 next but instead applying it from cuticle to the center, I did it from tips to the middle.

And finally added the glitter chunks using the Garnish 3...

And here are the photos of my nails:

That's all for now.
More beauty posts tomorrow!

Cheers,

PAC Powder Eyeshadow in No 09

Hello dears!

Vibrant blue eyeshadows are probably something some people are afraid to use. I guess I would have to agree that it can be quite difficult to wear. It looks waaaay too unnatural and you'll have to find the right blue shade for your skin tone to make it work. Plus, when it smudges, it doesn't look good at all.

So when I attended a blogger makeup workshop by PAC Cosmetics, I received a blue powder eyeshadow.

At first I wasn't really excited by it. I don't wear blue shadows that much and I'm not really a big fan of the color.

And loose powder eyeshadows are quite messy to use.

But once I swatched it, I was so amazed on how pigmented it is.

The shimmer is beautiful as well. It reminds me of the Blue Fairy in the Pinocchio story. :P
It's already pigmented on its own but it can be much bolder with primer.

Here are photos of my eye makeup using this eyeshadow:

I just added some dark grey eyeshadows to add depth.

This shadow doesn't crease given I have primer on. I have oily lids so on its own, I still encounter some minor creasing on the corners of my lids.

So what do you think of this eyeshadow? Would you consider wearing this for your eye makeup?

The S&K Applied DENIMOLOGY

Hello everyone!

Just sharing this interesting press release from Samuel and Kevin. I even got my bro to check this out.

This weekend, we will be having a jeans swap at S and K for our non-customers to experience the quality of our denims.

These days, denim means a lot more than it was 3 decades ago. It has become complicated but simpler it terms of what the users need: jeans can make our legs slimmer, they can memorize the shape of our body, and feel more comfortable than ever while having a tailor-fit look.  Technology, innovation and the thing we call “denimology” transformed 100% cotton into something more relevant, something more for today.

Since 1999, brand Samuel & Kevin concentrated on designing jeans. Eight years of professional experience has enabled S&K to develop the best designs specifically for Asian people. In 2001, S and K launched the "8" jean series, which are specifically designed for Asian body types. This series focuses on comfort, trend and leisure. Examples are the "comfort fit 802", "regular straight 803", "Slim 811", and "Skinny 821".

The "8" series successfully meets different customer needs and provides added convenience for customers, as they can choose their favourite fitting series with different washing effects.

During the washing process, every pair of jeans passes through several procedures in order to attain the highest quality and fit. S and K is devoted to producing individual, unique and fashionable clothes, and in particular to developing trousers. In return, young generations are loyal to the S&K brand.

Now, S and K introduces another addition to the 8 series with Free J which is a combination of sweat pants in jeans that is as soft as knit fabric. It moves with ease and tucks better than regular jeans for a better fit and feel.

S and K studied regular denim and created a softer and looser one with towel-like softness for cosy comfort and warmth for the active youth of today.

FREE-J looks the same as regular jeans, until you put it on and feel the difference. This will be available this November at S and K East Wing Shangrila Mall.

Now, we would like to encourage everyone to try out the S&K jeans by swapping old jeans. You can avail any S and K jeans for men at 50% OFF this November 29, 30 and December 1 2013 at Shangrila East Wing.
