Wear Fuchsia!

Neither have I ever been fond of any specific shade of lipstick, nor have received so many compliments about my pout (from friends, students, teachers, and relatives online and in person)... Until now.

Regardless of lighting and mood, a bright fuchsia just manages to flatter my face and catch attention!

Natural lighting (sitting right beside a huge window)
@ a coffee shop early afternoon
Indoors at night @ a party
where my professor asked me what
lipstick I'm using so he can buy
thes same shade for his wife!
At the department office,
under ugly fluorescent lights

TIPS:

  • Since the color itself is shocking, get ready to bring out your white and black tops. Loud prints will look weird and awkward when sporting this shade. I've been wearing my plains over and over, and I bought 3 more over the week, because of my fascination with fuchsia!
  • Exfoliate your lips. I'm using C. O. Bigelow's Mentha Lip Buffer in Peppermint (yum)!
  • Since I like my lips matte or semi-matte - because gloss over my full pout will make me look like a, uhm, slutty goldfish - I moisturize with a non-petroleum based balm. I've discovered that the classic Nivea Creme (in the vintage blue tin) gives you that smooth surface without the shine. (Congratulations, BTW, to Nivea for celebrating 100 years --- catch on Facebook! Can I just say that I really like this brand!)
  • Softly line and fill your lips with lip pencil to avoid bleeding. No need to go full-on; just make sure you've colored and shaped your puckers. I'm using Fanny Serrano Lip Pencil in 03. Forgot to do this when I began sporting the shade, and I found the color gunk transfering to outside my lips, seeping through the lines, and feathering!
  • Check once in a while. The color will fade into a stain or you can reapply. Either way, make sure you have a mirror handy.

MY PICKS:

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa
(this under lipsticks will mattify the shade)

Revlon Colorburst in Fuchsia
(gorgeous! almost a dupe of NARS Funny Face)
MAC Amplified Pro Creme lipstick in Full Fuchsia
(more magenta than NARS FF)

#6 is the one that started it all: NARS Funny Face
(almost red, but balanced by blue and magenta tones)

Even if I have these lippies already, I seriously, seriously still want to get my hands on NARS Schiap and MAC Girl About Town.

Anyway, here's to hoping we can all pull off the shade! :)

To end this post, I'll leave you with a totally unrelated picture of a really hot guy:

Ernest Hemingway at 19 years old.
Ooh la la. A lit genius with a face like this?
Have a great day to everyone!

Cheers,
Trace

Review: San San Soleil Nail Polishes

I got these little nail polishes from San San a few days ago. I find them cute with the very vibrant, warm and playful colors! It is from the brand's summer collection, Soleil.

Although it is a bit too late since the rainy season has begun, these colors seem to still be a crowd favorite. I keep seeing a lot of my schoolmates sporting these nail colors.

Such pretty colors, aren't they?
On my nails: Canary Glow
My favorite of the 3. My first impression was, "Sooo UST. <3"

On my nails: Moss Green
Love this one. It reminds me a lot of Kero Keroppi. I use to draw him a lot in MS Paint. LOL :P

on my nails : Tangerine Burst
Not a fan of orange, but this looks sooo good on my nails. :>

What I like about it is it's very affordable. Only $0.75. And it's available in all HBC stores. I also like the very-easy-to-work-with brush and how the nail polish goes smoothly on your nails. The only thing I'm not fond of is I that it can be quite runny and that I had to put 3 coats of the nail polish to get these results. Well, almost every matte nail polish needs 2 to 3 coats anyway. :)

Which of the three is your favorite? :)

FOTD: Orange Madness!!!

This post is dedicated to my dear classmate, Angela. She keeps on insisting that orange is a color for the "cool" people but for me, it's my least favorite in the color wheel. :P

So because I super like arguing with Angela about orange, I had this idea of just trying the color out on my face and that it's gonna be an FOTD post! :P

So here's what orange looks on me:

Although I do think that orange does look quite good on me. Haha!

I dug deep among my collection of makeup to find those with orange tones and here they are:

Face:
MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation in NC 25
Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer in Pure Beige
Fashion 21 Loose Powder in No.1

Cheeks:
Benefit in Georgia
Fashion 21 Blush in No. 4

Eyes:
Dollface 88 eyeshadow palette
Majolica Majorca Jewelry Eyes in RD784
Maybelline the Magnum Volum' Express Macara\
Maybelline BrowDefinist in Brown
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Brown
Nichido Eye Pencil in 24k

Lips:
San San Soleil Lipstick in Peach Ibiza
Avon Simply Pretty Lipgloss in Coral

And I even used orange nail polish (Angela, see how much I love you? LOL)!

On Nails:
San San Soleil Nail Polish in Tangerine Burst

This look kind of made me like the color --- a little bit. LOL. So what do you think about the color Orange?

Review: Nivea Visage Sparkling White Whitening Day Care

It has been a month since I had this. I've been using it along with the Nivea Visage Sparkling White Facial Foam and Facial Scrub.

Here's what they claim about it:

1. It whitens.
2. Controls shine.
Result: The skin is hydrated and mattified. Your complexion is noticeably fairer and radiant instantly.

What I like about it is that I don't get break-outs with it unlike some other brands I've used. Does it whiten? I can't tell really. I don't really see much difference. Probably because school already started and my schedule is mostly at mid day. But what I noticed is that my dark spots lightened which is really awesome! :P

Here's a photo of my bare cheek taken around mid may.

Photo taken earlier today in front of my dressing table with fluorescent lighting. Dark spots aren't as noticeable. :P

Does it control shine? I disagree. After an hour or 2, I had to wipe the oil off my skin and retouch. That's why I don't use it anymore whenever I have makeup on. And I feel like my face is kind of heavy with it on. I usually use it after I get home from school. I have very oily skin so perhaps it will work okay with those people with normal skin.

It smells good. I can't really describe it. It's certainly not fruity. But the scent is not over-powering.

Pros:
  • Readily accessible since it's available in almost every Watsons Store.
  • It's affordable.
  • It did somehow lighten some spots for me. :P
  • Comes in different sizes.
  • Packaging is good (What I got anyway. Doesn't apply to those in sachets). Wouldn't easily spill if it falls or gets squished.

Cons:
  • Doesn't control oil as much as I wanted it to.
  • It feels heavy for me.

Will i repurchase this? I'm still undecided. I will probably experiment on other products first before I find my answer. I will probably buy another facial foam though. :P

NOTD: Pink Pepsi

Time to change my nail color again. And since I'm currently loving Fuchsia right now, I decided to use it as my base. I didn't want to settle with just a plain look so I added a few more colors and here's what my nails look like now:

My classmates liked it. They described it as a pink version of the Pepsi logo. Sort of a Cherry Pepsi feel. I never thought that it looked like it while I was doing the design. haha. :P

Here are the Nail Polishes I used:

 AmA Nail Polish No. 36

 AmA Nail Polish No. 56

Sassy Colors Nail Polish in White Satin

And I top coated it with a Chic Clear Nail Polish with glitters. Although it already looked good in plain clear coat. I just liked it with extra sparkles. lol. :P
