Makeup Experiment #17 (Disney Edition): Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas

Hello loves!!

Happy halloween!

And because so many people in my Facebook Timeline are posting their Halloween makeup and costumes, I thought of blogging a makeup experiment once again. It's been almost a year (it will exactly be a year if I were to post this tomorrow) since I posted a makeup experiment and I actually have the same model! Haha! (Thanks, Gucci, for being game to do all these crazy looks with me)

Anyway, for this makeup experiment, Gucci and I chose Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas as our inspiration. The movie has been one of the model's favorite Disney films growing up!

Here's how our experiment turned out...

And here's a photo of Sally for comparison:

I have been planning to do a Disney-inspired makeup experiment for two years now. I actually have three makeovers ready but I haven't selected and edited the photos that I will post. Do expect them to appear on this blog soon though. For now, I hope you enjoy this Sally-inspired makeup! :)

Here's Gucci without the makeup (she's the one at the left next to me and Liz)

Makeup by : Me
Hairstyle : That's Gucci's real hair and we didn't expect that the color is close to Sally's
Model : Gucci
Photos by : Me
Place taken : My room (the colored background is my painting)

I didn't exactly copied Sally's look. I added some personal touches here and there. :P

And I also added a behind the scene photo of Gucci taking a selfie! LOL

That's our makeup experiments! I hope you enjoyed this look. If you have questions about the look or what makeup I used, do comment below!

Please stay tuned for my other Disney-themed makeup experiments! <3 font="">

Maybelline ColorSensational Creamy Matte Brown Nude Lipstick in Burgundy Blush

Hey loves!

Burgundy lipsticks are getting more popular lately because of the fall season. Even though we don't have fall in the Philippines, we are still heavily influenced by Western fashion and beauty ideals and I'm actually liking it because I love wearing dark, bold lipsticks! Haha!

That's why when Maybelline launched their matte brown lipsticks, one of the lipsticks that I bought was this...

Maybelline ColorSensational Creamy Matte Brown Nude Lipstick in Burgundy Blush

I bought it for only PhP 199.00 from its original price of PhP 299.00 when BeautyMNL had them on sale.

It has that sexy burgundy shade and it's matte! Perfect for an evening night out!

Check out the swatch below:

on my arm

And on my lips

That's me wearing the lipstick (and that's my bro!).

I really like the whole ColorSensational Creamy Matte lipstick line from Maybelline. They are all pigmented, has medium-long staying power, and the color selections are really good. It can be a bit drying but with the right care on your lips (like a good matte lip balm and occasional use of lip scrubs), that wouldn't be a problem.

I've been receiving compliments from friends when I use this lippie and I personally love it!

What do you think of the Maybelline ColorSensational Creamy Matte Brown Nude Lipstick in Burgundy Blush? :)

Smashbox The Santigold Age Eye Shadow Collage in Earth as We Know It

Hi dears!

I'm a sucker for beautifully designed products. So when I was browsing the items on sale at Beauty Bar a couple of months ago, I just can't keep my eyes off of this eyeshadow palette...

Smashbox The Santigold Age Eye Shadow Collage in Earth as We Know It
Original price was PhP 1,900. Got this for only PhP 665.00.

What attracted me was the very colorful packaging. It's very different from the usual black package design of the brand.

See below the labels on the box and on the product:

You can also check out a video from their website for added info and tips.

I was curious what/who Santigold was so I googled. Santigold is actually an American singer and producer. (I apologize for my lack of knowledge in music. Haha!) But when you check her album covers and her outfits, there's a wild mix of bold and contrasting colors. You can really see why this palette looks like such.

The compact is slim equipped with a mirror. The design is bright and lively and the eyeshadows are arranged in a way that looks like a snake. The texture of the eyeshadows look like reptile skin!

The colors are bright and a mixture of greens, blue, cream, and brown. Some are more sparkly than others.

From Left to Right:
Kelly Green, Soft Sparkling Cream, Dark Matte Blue, Dark Sparkly Forest Green, and Raisin with Rose Gold.

I am loving the shades Soft Sparkling Cream, Dark Sparkly Forest Green, and Raisin with Rose Gold. They are the most neutral from the bunch, which is why I use them most often.

I try to recreate the look that was instructed at the bottom of the compact and got this look:

I also played with it and lessened the blue shade and added more of the brown.

The eyeshadows are very pigmented and non-chalky. The colors aren't something that I would often use though—I still like neutrals, peaches, and pinks when I go to work... BUT these shades are perfect if you want to make a statement.

What do you think of the Smashbox The Santigold Age Eye Shadow Collage in Earth as We Know It?

NOTD: Phoenix eggs

Hello loves!

It's NOTD time! Haha!

The nails I'm sporting today is how I envision how phoenix eggs would look like. Fiery with a touch of sparkly magic! Haha!

I used these two glittery polishes to get the effect.

Girl Stuff Nail Polish in Sparkling Maroon
The Body Shop Colour Crush Nail Colour in Sequins Gold
ORLY TOP2BOTTOM Basecoat + Topcoat

I used Sparkling Maroon first then applied Sequins Gold on top. I used the Orly polish for my base and top coat.

I am really loving Sequins Gold polish because it can make my nails look more exciting with the burst of glitters. The contrast of the black and gold gives an elegant tone to it as well.

What do you think of this NOTD?

Guerlain Parure Gold Radiance Foundation in Pale Rose

Hello loves!

I love it when I use products that smell good. My mood instantly gets better and I really do feel prettier. That's how i feel whenever I use this product...

Guerlain Parure Gold Radiance Foundation in Pale Rose

Product info from the website:

A symbol of light and energy, gold is synonymous with eternity. Parure Gold was created from Eclat d'Or Pigments that instantly light up, smooth and correct the complexion. To make this burst of radiance last, Parure Gold adds luxurious treasures: the ultra-nourishing benefits of Oil of Myrrh to revive the youthful radiance and vitality of the skin.
Under the caress of Eclat d'Or Pigments, dark areas light up, fine lines fade away and imperfections seem to disappear. Even, rested and enhanced, the complexion is illuminated. The face glows with new youthful radiance.
Luminous and ultra-natural, the five shades of the range are warmed with yellow gold and pink gold pigments that diminish the signs of time and fatigue.

Parure Gold comes in a 30ml pump bottle. SPF 15 - PA++

Parure Gold has a distinctive and delicate floral scent. The first peach note blended with an accord of vegetal notes is fresh and sparkling. The rose, raspberry and jasmine heart is enriched with a powdery base of balsamic, benzoin and white musk.

Apply two or three drops of fluid foundation to the face and neck and then gently blend in with the fingertips, working from the centre of the face outwards, to give your complexion a “freshly-awakened” look. With its wonderfully silky, glide-on texture, Parure Gold is easy to blend and ensures a light finish. Use after the L'Or base for more radiance and hydration.

It comes in 12 shades as indicated in the website. I currently have the deluxe sample size but the regular size weighs 30ml.

I rarely get the chance to try products that are... well... what I consider "luxury" or too expensive for my budget. Although, I still believe that you can look great with using drugstore makeup, there really is this different kind of quality that you can only experience from brands like Guerlain—good different. You pay for quality after all. So for this post, I'll share with you my thoughts on this foundation.

Here's how the product looks like.

I like that this shade is still warm. Since it says it's "rose," I thought that it would be too cool-toned for my skin. It still blends well but the shade is too light for my skin. I think the beige shades would suit my color better.

The first thing I noticed is the incredible fragrance of the foundation. If you don't like scents on your face, then you should skip this. I, on the other hand, LOVE it when my products smell nice. The floral and musky scent just smells so luxurious!

when blended

It feels so light. It sets on skin pretty fast and it feels like you're not wearing makeup at all! You don't get the sticky liquid foundation feeling.

Check out the before and after shots above.

You can see the medium coverage it provides. It evens my skin from redness and hides some pimples and scars. I'm loving the part that it gives a natural finish and adds a radiant glow on my skin—and I'm not talking about the part where the shade is too light, this product just gives that certain dewy-but-not-really-kind-of finish. Haha!

When you add color, it really makes my skin glow!

I like that it doesn't cake or sit on the lines of my face (corners of my nose, laugh lines, or underneath my eye bags) nor on dry, flaky areas. It lasts the whole day too, but it doesn't control oil so my face gets shiny after a couple of hours. I can just blot the oil away.

I'm definitely loving this foundation. I'd like to get my hands on a regular-sized bottle with the correct shade of my skin if I have the extra budget for it. Hihihi.

Have you tried the Guerlain Parure Gold Radiance Foundation yet?

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 06 Rosewood Shimmer

Hello dolls!

My sister sent my mom a Clarins skincare set and it included this cute travel-sized lippie. My mom hardly uses it though because she's not a fan of glosses so I asked if I could have it. Haha!

So I'm gonna share the swatch of the product on today's post! :)

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

The shade is called Rosewood Shimmer.

The one I have is only 5mL while the regular-size tube contains 12mL.

Info on the packaging can be seen on the photo above.

Info from the website:

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

A softly textured lip gel with a deliciously sweet scent. Lips are left looking soft, smooth, shiny and plump. Sheer, but has enough colour to wear alone or to complement your favourite lip shade.

It's available in eight shades.

For a lippie in this kind of squeeze tube packaging, I like its applicator. It creates an even and clean application.

You just squeeze and the product dispenses as seen on the photo above.

Here's a swatch on my hand.

It's both sheer and pigmented. And I am loving the very fine shimmers on the peachy pink-nude shade. The shade looks like my natural lip color but better!

See what I mean?

Don't expect it to be long-lasting... it's staying power is pretty much like most lip glosses. It's very moisturizing though!

It's perfect for a natural makeup look. I carry it in my vanity kit so it's with me wherever I go. You can never go wrong when your lip product is close to your natural lip color but it just makes your lips look better!
