Hey, gorgeous!
If you're updated with what's been going on with The Body Shop, then you probably already know that Leona Lewis is the brand's newest ambassador.
I'm not too familiar with Leona to be honest. I only know one of her songs, which is Bleeding Love, and that she won UK's The X Factor some years ago.
With that being said, I was curious on why she was picked as an ambassador of The Body Shop since I know that the brand is passionate with helping Mother Nature and different communities around the world and that the people they choose to represent them share the same passion. If you wonder the same thought, then read below their press release and get to know Leona more!
THE BODY SHOP REVEALS LEONA LEWIS AS NEW BRAND ACTIVIST
February 28th, London. Ethical beauty retailer The Body Shop is proud to
reveal today that British singer and global
superstar Leona Lewis has become its new Brand Activist.
Seven
years since her triumph on The X Factor (UK), Leona has twenty million album
sales and a glittering collection of awards and award nominations, yet remains
grounded and true to her beliefs. An animal lover and long-time vegetarian,
Leona is the perfect partner for The Body Shop and its unique
vision of cruelty-free beauty.
As part of the
partnership, one of Leona’s first activities is to help The Body Shop and NGO
Cruelty Free International in their joint, global campaign to end animal
testing for cosmetics forever, building on the EU ban on animal testing for
cosmetics which comes into effect on March 11th this year.
Leona has also put her
name to an exclusive cruelty-free make-up and fragrance collection, the Limited
Edition Collection by Leona Lewis. Featuring 100% vegetarian cosmetics in
fashion-forward shades, the Limited Edition Collection by Leona Lewis features
quirky packaging with a floral deer motif, celebrating the fact that The Body
Shop was one of the first beauty brands to use cruelty-free, man-made musk instead
of musk derived from the musk deer. The Limited Edition Collection by Leona
Lewis will be available at The Body Shop stores June 2013.
Leona Lewis says: “I’m passionate about beauty and I’m
all about animal rights. As a result, I’m really conscious of where the
products that I use come from. The Body Shop sells cruelty free, ethical
products containing amazing Community Fair Trade ingredients. The collaboration
is a natural fit!”
I've been hearing a lot of good responses regarding this collection that Leona did with The Body Shop that's why I was so excited to get invited to the media launch of the cruelty-free limited edition makeup collection. It was held last night at Maxims Hotel in Pasay.
Peachy Pink Sister Liz wasn't able to join me since it was her dad's birthday and there weren't much blogger friends in the event since this is more for the media people. They only invited me and a few other bloggers since we were LYB members. Unfortunately, I think I was the only one who was able to attend. :(
It started off with some introduction from Ms. Rols, the host for the night, and Ms. Jo-I.
Then there was a makeover presentation on how to use the new makeup collection.
They did 2 looks, a bronzed one and a girly pink one! I forgot to take photos of the gorgeous models though. But the pink one was based on Leona's poster which you can see in the photo above. The bronzed look, on the other hand, was applied on me as well on my makeover which I shall share with you later on this post.
There were makeup stations at different corners of the venue. I was very eager to try out the new range that I immediately sat on one of their stations for a makeover.
Here are some shots of the products inside the pretty makeup stations:
Each gloss has a different scent!
Isn't this brush super cute or what?
The deer motif looks so elegant!
Leona herself was one of the people behind this design!
These eyeshadows are probably my most favorite items inside.
These are new and are already available in stores. But there will be a separate workshop on this I believe.
I got to swatch the 5 of the 12 available shades:
Super pigmented right? And they last so long too! *Kilig*
And on to my makeover!!
I got here straight from work. I only had my foundation, eyeliner, and a very bold red lipstick. My face probably looks decent on the picture above but my face makeup was already wearing off. I badly need to retouch... or better yet, a whole face makeover!
The makeup artist in charge of me was Analyn. She first cleansed my face and proceeded with my makeup. I got to try the newest BB Cream from The Body Shop, The Vitamin E Cooling BB Cream!
Look! It didn't made my skin look greyish! It gave me an instant glow!
Since it was an evening event, we went with the dramatic eyes. Some bronzy, smokey look was made. She didn't bother to remove my red lipstick and applied one of the yummy lipglosses from the Leona Lewis Collection on top.
And here's my finished look! Had to take a picture with Analyn as well. :)
When I got home, I also took some selfie shots.
Since I already have smoky eyes and bold lips, I think the blush is too strong for this look. I guess it was just too dark in the venue that's why the application was too much.
The night went by with chitchats, good music and delicious food and drinks.
Even if I went alone and no blogger friends were present, I was accompanied by these lovely girls, Anne and Jayne!
And just like any other TBS event, I was able to take home a gift!
It was inside a gorgeous, pink box!
When i opened it, there was a CD of Leona Lewis containing her songs,
and these products from The Body Shop!
Yayyy! I got the newest BB Cream! I also got 1 of the new eyeshadows! And the White Musk Libertine is one of my favorite fragrance from The Body Shop too! I was a happy kid last night.
I so can't wait to try more of the Leona Lewis Limited Edition Makeup Collection. Are you as well? What do you think of Leona Lewis as The Body Shop's newest brand activist?
Cheers,
DAWN
