Review: Laura Mercier Secret Concealer

Trace writes: Concealer time! Bobbi Brown says her favorite makeup item in the world is concealer. But I don't use her products, haha. I have this loyalty thing going on with Laura Mercier.

Now it's time for concealing the undereye area - my pick for this one is:

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer
(#2 - a light intensity with warm undertones) / 0.08 oz. or 2.2g

Description: Provides more "slip" and glides on skin to cover any dark areas and brings a youthful, brighter look to entire face.

DIrection: For use around the under eye area only - not intended for other areas of the face. Use after foundation!
  • Pick up the product with the Secret Camouflage Brush or with the tip of your ring or pinky finger and be careful not to apply too much pressure - because of the intense pigments you only need a small amount
  • If you require more coverage, apply Secret Camouflage to those hard to cover areas after Secret Concealer
  • Set with Translucent Loose Setting Powder using the Camouflage Powder Brush
Ingredients: Petrolatum, Lanolin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Retinyl Palmitate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Paraffin, Propylparaben. +/- [May contain]: Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891), Iron Oxides (Cl 77491, Cl 77492, Cl 77499), Ultramarines (Cl 77007).

Swatches:

On white paper

On skin

Bare eyes

LM Secret Concealer applied and set with LM Translucent Loose Powder

Shade: Best for NC25 skin. This has a very peachy tone, and functions like a corrector. It conceals the bluish-green veins under my eyes very well.

Texture: Creamy.

Coverage: Medium to Full.

Best for: All skin types.

Happy with: Finish. Blends well with my NC25 skintone and brightens the area too. I find that it also moisturizes the skin.

Disappointed with: Creasing! Though it conceals well, I find that it gets into the lines (I've previously used contacts before getting Lasik surgery, and the constant tugging explains why I have some wrinkles).

How much and where to get it: PhP 995 at Rustan's Essences.

Will I buy again? Undecided. It will take me forever to finish this pot, anyway since I alternate concealers. I'm still on the lookout for the non-creasing creamy concealer, if there is such a thing. But then again, I can always just use my Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage anyway (over moisturizer/eye cream), so that isn't much of an issue.

Cheers,
Trace

  1. Laura Mercier! One of my friend who uses makeup for more than 25 years swear that their tinted moisturizer oil free is the best. I got some sample from sephora to try. I ended up buying their oil free flawless face kit since it is a good deal, but have yet to use them. It comes with the Secret Camouflage. Now you mentioned it!

After trying a few concealers, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer SPF 10 is my favorite, since I also use it to cover dark spots on my face. I gave mine to mom because I love it so much. Now I have to get myself another one.

  3. Fish Fish - I bought that Oil Free Flawless Face Kit in Nude as well, but I didn't *love* the TM and Primer too much so I swapped them away. :P

EL Doublewear? I've finished a bottle of the foundation before - wow, how it covers! :D It dries up too quickly for my taste so I prefer MAC SFF. But I am not surprised why you like the EL Double Wear concealer - I can just imagine how pigmented that is!!

Khymm - Sure! :) Bad trip talaga that it creases, I should have been satisfied using LM Secret Camouflage. Better siya talaga overall, am still working on the entry :)
