Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hairtherapy Amino Cell Rebuild Moisture Kick Recharger

Good evening ladies,

As promised, here is my review of the freebie conditioner/treatment product I got from Vivere Salon.

The Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hairtherapy Amino Cell Rebuild Moisture Kick Recharger (phew... that was long...) was given to me as a freebie when I purchased their shampoo + conditioner deal. As what they told me, it's a treatment and conditioner which was highly recommended for treated hair.

I am not sure if I heard it wrong or what but I initially thought it was a leave on conditioner/mousse because on my first try I applied it directly onto my hair and did not wash afterwards. Needless to say, it did nothing to soften or make my hair silky smooth.

The second time I used it, since I was going to put it up for review, I took pictures and I saw the instructions for use. After browsing it ended up rushing back to the bathroom to rinse my hair properly.

Anyway, so the product is mousse-like and smells fantastic. After shampooing you apply it on your towel-dried hair and rinse off after 5 to 10 minutes.

Since the product is mousse-like it's a little tricky to spread evenly over the whole of your hair. However, the good thing is, it doesn't feel greasy or too silky when you start rinsing it out.

After use, my hair does feel less gritty when I comb my fingers through it. Dawn commented, it's not as moisturizing and by the looks of my hair after drying, I do agree. Sorry that I don't have any photos up to compare my hair before and after... I did take pictures but the before was too blurry to even do any justice to the after.

Anyway, the product does have staying power as compared to conventional conditioners. My hair usually feels very rough when it gets wet then smooths out after conditioning. The next day's shower after using this product, I noticed that my hair felt pretty soft to the touch, so I guess that's why they said it was pretty much like a treatment also.

One peculiar thing we noticed, was that on drying, our hair looked curly/wavy. Dawn's curls looked more pronounced and my usually straight flat hair had small curls/wave around the tips. We think this product would be more suitable for people with curls than for people with dyed hair.

As for the packaging, as much as I like the whole mousse idea, the bottle is very very slim and does not make this product ideal for everyday use. Also, another thing that makes it bad for everyday use is its price. This product is around 1k+ in amount so it's pretty expensive.

I don't think I'll be buying one anytime soon. Maybe I'll think about buying it when I get my hair curled one day but as of now, I won't be replenishing my stash once it runs out.

So that's it for this short review. Hope this helps you out.

Cheers,
LIZ

Hair Goal Achieved: Purple Hair

Hello ladies,

I have finally achieved the Purple hair color I want. So I wanted to share with you it's current progression.

I will share the hair products I have used after getting it colored in another post but this post is solely about going dark purple and what to expect after 3 washing.

So first, here was how I looked getting it colored to dark purple. It looked like ube on langka. :)

Anyway, here it is right after coloring in flourescent light. The color was kind of a mix between blue and red so as you can see, there were blue streaks on. They looked pretty cool and kind of looked like highlights.

And here it is under an LED bulb. It showed a darker hue and if you are walking around at night, you can hardly tell that it's purple. Which is something I like since it adds a little shock factor when you actually see the purple in the light.

Day 1 post coloring under shaded natural sunlight. It's hardly an in-your-face color but it does brighten up your complexion.

Then you go directly under the sun and BOOM! PURPLE! See what I meant about the WOW factor?

After that, I was advised to not wash my hair for a while and when I did, the picture above happened. The used water was pink to red in hue, and as you will notice, the top part (my crown) is visibly lighter in shade than the ends.

With a little more sunlight...

During the first, second and third wash, I have never used shampoo and followed the conditioner only regimen (plus my conditioner was sulfate-free) However, on the second wash, I noticed that the color was getting more lighter. In certain lighting, it looked very purple, and in some it was a mix of blue, brown, and purple streaks. That rattled me a little but I was advised that the color will last so I shouldn't worry.

However on the third wash, The purple is almost completely non-existent.

Here is my hair post-third washing under cloudy sunlight.

I noticed more blue streaks now especially when I flip the bottom part of my hair and a heck of a lot of browns.

After the second wash the roots were still strikingly purple but after the third, that hue has diminished to this.

I am a little disappointed at the staying power of the color since I was expecting it to last at least 1 week and not wear out this fast (especially since I am using sulfate-free products). Though my brother's friend had told me before that purple does not last as long as others.

It's starting to have a gray-brown kind of hue over my bangs area while the rest have streaks of purple, brown and blue. My workmates even asked me what happened and that my hair is starting to look like a rainbow.

Well, I just hope it doesn't end up with a tanned brown color because I hate that color and it doesn't suit me.

Will I still retouch the color? If it doesn't require me to re-bleach my hair in order to get purple, I would recolor until a certain length that it's cool looking balayaged hair color.

So what do you think of this hair color? Would you try it if you were in my shoes? Do you have any suggestions on how to make it last? Do tell me so I can try and salvage this hair color.

Cheers,
LIZ

FOTD: Blonde Hair Red Lips Combo

Hello ladies,

I have always wanted to color my hair differently especially after I had that balayage treatment a few years back. So after last year, I was finally able to get my hair colored.

So I went to Vivere salon and told my stylist, Ms. Rich Abella that I wanted purple hair. However, since I previously had my hair colored blue-black and I wanted dark purple, bleaching will take more than one session. So for this coloring job, we had to divide it into two sessions.

So I actually achieved two hair goals in two weeks. Week 1, I was blonde but my hair was more yellow than the nice blonde we see on film so it was a struggle to fix up my make-up and make it look natural on me.

Dawn came to my rescue with a few brow kits (Kanebo Kate Eyebrow Mascara in LB-1 and Etude House Easy Brow Pencil) and it helped up-lift my face and make the blonde work. Which came in a good time because my cousin's wedding happened that weekend and my blonde hair was immortalized.

And this was how I wore it to the event. Simple classic red lips and a french twist hairstyle to keep everything classy.

I do think french twist looks better with colored hair since you can see the twist better than when it's done on black hair.

It's quite easy to do. I actually did this one myself. It's easier to do on short and medium length hair rather than with long hair. There are a number of youtube video tutorials on how to do it. And here is one.

Do you think I pulled off the blonde hair look? I'll be posting my purple hair in a few days so hope you read that too. Plus, since my birthday is coming up soon, we'll be launching a birthday giveaway in a few days, wait for that as well.

Cheers,

Of New Life Events and, New Cuts and Colors

Good evening ladies,

So last Sunday Dawn and I went to Vivere Salon to get our hair done. It has been a long time since I last had anything done with my hair and as you can see, the blue black has long faded and my bleached parts have reached a length where they don't look as fashionable anymore.

It has overgrown in some areas and it's starting to look at little flat and boring in my perspective.

And so, here I am getting my hair trimmed to a better shaped bob.

I really missed Ms. Rich taking care of my hair. She just pays attention to what you want and explains what's doable and what's not. She  assesses your hair, finds out what happened to it before, how it got to it's current state, and what you want it to look after you get out of the salon before she starts with any treatment. I really like the fact that she takes that time to walk you through with how the both of you will come to the end result you want.

So first task of that day was to dye my bleached parts. My hair was a little trickier to color around this time since I had bleached parts at some parts which might not come out to color the same as the rest of my hair. There was also the issue of me getting it colored blue black some months ago which might make the colors not stick as much or not color as much. But with Ms. Rich had figured out a good way to make everything come together.

And thus the rest of my hair was colored.

So here's the end product of my cut and color. I was supposed to color it a dark purple but the color I wanted was not doable so I settled with a dark copper...

hair inspiration was Karlie Kloss's hair in this picture taken from pinterest.com:

Though the cut is still not the same since some parts of my hair have not grown to the right length for the cut to be the same.

And then here is the picture of my hair 2 days after getting it colored. This is under the shade on a sunny day.

The bleached parts of my hair were colored with a darker tone almost black looking to help it blend with the whole color scheme of my head. Ms. Rich assured me that it will wash out and eventually lighten to blend better with the rest of the hair. But I kind of like it this way, it makes my hair look two toned and dark.

Under the sun, it shines with a reddish copper tone at the top...

And a mix of copper and browns all over.

I really do like my hair's color now, it looks a little more natural on me and is now somewhat uniform in color. So thank you so much to Ms. Rich for taking such good care of my hair ever since you first chopped it down to a pixie cut.

How do you like my new hair cut and color? Have any other color suggestions for me?

Cheers,
LIZ

Dawn Goes Ombré

Hello loves!

So I was thinking of doing a little change for my hair. I just got it permed more than a month ago but I still want a little more "umph" since permed hair is nothing new to me anyway. I want my hair to be something I haven't tried before and the only look I thought of doing for now is getting an ombré.

So I consulted with my hair stylist of more than 2 years, Ms. Richelle Abella Espeso, about what I can do with it. My hair was around 4/5 brown already from a previous hair coloring session. The rest are already black because of hair growth but I actually prefer my roots to still be black when I get it ombré-d so that I don't have problems having to color my hair soon when it grows longer.

Since the part of my hair that is brown blends well with my natural black hair, we agreed that I only need to add a lighter shade at the bottom.

Here's the peg I used.

I think this would look well with my permed hair and I think it's pretty easy to carry and it also looks very casual. I don't need to spend much time fixing my hair in the morning.

So last Sunday, I went to Vivere Salon at Robinsons Place Ermita, where Ms. Rich now works at to finally get the ends of my hair colored. It's a little farther than the previous salon she was in but Vivere is a great place too. The staff there are very friendly and you can get unlimited drinks! Haha! They have coffee, tea, and iced tea. :P

I came with Liz who also got her hair done. It's my graduation gift for her. :P She'll do a post regarding that soon. :D

My hair getting bleached.

It only took a few minutes to an hour. I also got treatment afterwards since there was a promo that weekend.

Ismael, who assisted Ms. Rich, was very nice and really did a great job making my hair extra fab with the hair dryer!

And tadaaaaa!!!

My hair after!

I think it looks great. :D

That's what my hair looked after leaving the salon.

And this is how it looked when I got home 4 hours later.

It still looks good but I was curious to know how it would look like with my curly permed hair... but I had to wait 'til I wash my hair again.

So here it is with chunky curls after washing my hair and adding some products.

And this is how it looks like without any product...

Is it just me or is it getting lighter??? Should I panic or does it look good?

I'd like to thank Ms. Rich for taking good care of my hair. She's very accommodating and makes my salon experience worry-free.

I think this change is good. I guess it's sort of different from the usual look I go for but I guess a little edge would be okay once in a while. :P

Well, what do you think? :)

Cheers,
DAWN
