I got my hair trimmed! FINALLY!

To be honest, I've neglected hair care for the longest time. I started taking care of my hair when I noticed that my hair started to thin a couple of years ago. What I did was I skipped exposing it to damaging chemicals like hair coloring and perming. I don't shower with warm water (except when I'm in a cold country like when I was in Tokyo during winter), I barely tie my hair, and I also added hair oils.

Unfortunately, I still don't get my hair trimmed regularly. If I don't get it trimmed, it will lead to split ends which causes hair tangles. And when my hair get's tangled, I sometimes get impatient when I comb my hair and brush it too strongly that it leads to breakage. Yikes!

The product is oil and I use it as instructed. The fragrance is quite strong, but I really like how it smells so that's no biggie. I like the packaging—the bottle size, the design, and how it is dispensed (there's just a small hole and you shake the product off and small amounts of the oil goes out so you can control the amount you get easily).

So what do I think of it?

I like it. I really like it. Whenever I use this, my hair is shiny and smooth. It's not as soft as when I use some products with silicone, but what's important is how healthy my hair looks when I use this together with the shampoo and conditioner. The frizz lessened a lot and my hair looks shiny! It exceeded my expectations!

I do have to watch out on how much I put on because I already have an oily scalp. I could still wash it off with shampoo though. And sometimes I leave it on for more than 10 minutes. I don't really see any difference if I have it on longer, but I just mention it in case you are wondering. Haha!

I'm happy that I accidentally discovered this product and I will probably buy again once I run out. It will take a while though because I've only used 1/4 of the bottle and I've had this for five months.

Dawn's New Hair Color—Red Wine

I just colored my hair! Haha!

I was trying to avoid any chemicals on my hair. I even bought organic shampoos! I'm trying to make my hair healthy again since it suffered from weak strands and hair loss for a while last year.

But I got really bored and I thought that my hair's condition is getting better so I did this:

I colored my hair in a red wine shade! :)

I was getting bored with the sort of ombre hair I have. I didn't like the light almost dirty blonde shade at the bottom half of my hair.

So when I was browsing Zalora, I saw that this hair color product was on sale. I've been thinking of changing my color since Christmas so I bought it.

HYSSOP Perfecen Essence Color in Red Wine

I wasn't aware of the brand, but I bought it anyway. LOL 

Unfortunately, everything was in Korean so I can't read the labels. 

But I like the shade and that it shows what your hair would look like depending on the hair color you have prior to applying it. 

The set is equipped with the color (tube), the oxidizing solution (?) in the bottle, an instruction manual that I can't understand, gloves, a sort of plastic robe so that your clothes won't get stained, and that little vial...

 I did have troubles in determining what that vial on the leftmost part of the photo is. I guessed that it's like a conditioner that you apply after the color treatment because I usually get one when I buy a set of hair color just like this one. The consistency is too thin though so I was still confused. I tried googling the product and even tried google translate but I didn't see any information and I was still left unsure. 

What I did was mix a few on the mixture (about half of the vial) and then the rest I mix with conditioner after rinsing the treatment off. And yeah, I did this all by myself. Haha!

Anyway, I wish they add a translation on this product because I think it's pretty good. It didn't hurt my scalp and it gave my hair a beautiful color. One box was enough to color all of my hair equally and it did minimal damage! My hair feels like how it was prior to the coloring.

The first photo in this post was taken the very next day after i had my hair colored. 

This photo was taken indoors under fluorescent lighting.

It looks like my natural hair with a reddish tone. 

But once I step outside, you can see the red wine color! It's even more vibrant under the sun!

Klorane Mango Oil

It's been a while since I got a haircut and I've been planning on getting one soon. There are just some things that's been happening that I had to postpone my plans. For now, I had to deal with my dry, frizzy, damaged ends with products to make them feel and look hydrated. I usually use leave-on conditioners or hair oils for that. 

So when I went to Sydney to visit my sister, she recommended I try this...

Klorane Mango Oil

I bought it for AU $22.95.

At the back of the bottle, you'll see the product description as well as the directions for use:

I'm glad my sister recommended this because it works very well with my thin hair strands. The oil is very light that it doesn't drag my hair down. The finish doesn't make my hair look greasy as well. Check the before and after photos below for reference.

I applied two sprays of the product and massaged it evenly on the ends of my hair. It reduced the frizz and made my hair shinier while still retaining its volume and softness.

It also smells amazing! You can really smell the sweet mango. Yummm!

To summarize, it keeps my hair soft, shiny, and pretty. I love that it's weightless and that it smells really good. I use it on the ends of my hair and can apply it on dry or towel dried hair. The price might be too much for some but since you only need one or two sprays, it will definitely last a long while.

All in all, I really like it!

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hairtherapy: Repair Rescue Conditioner

Good evening ladies,

This will be my last review of the Schwarzkopf trio which I bought when I had my hair dyed purple. I've previously reviewed the sulfate-free shampoo and the hair-mousse like conditioner in the middle. So the last will be the small sized conditioner, Repair Rescue.

Packaging:

I don't really like the packaging for the shampoo and the conditioner. The top heavy design does nothing to the product's appeal. The plastic of the bottles are too hard for me to be able to squeeze every last drop of product out of it; additionally, the roundness also adds to my difficulty to cut the bottle in half (again for the purpose of getting every last bit of product out of it). The lid covers, in contrast are made out of thin plastic and break easily. I dropped the shampoo and now the lid's joint is loose.

Product Consistency:

The product is quite light and does not leave a filmy kind-of sticky residue on your hands after application. However, when applied on hair, it does little to de-tangle my somewhat hard, wet hair, and does not feel anything like a conditioner.

Performance: 

When I chose to buy this instead of the sulfate-free conditioner, I was told that this product was used for women with rebonded hair as rebond is very damaging hence assuring me that this was the closest to a hair salon treatment for my hair. I was also given instructions to ensure that I let the product stay for not more than five minutes or else it'll leave my hair hard. Unfortunately, despite following such instructions, I find that this conditioner fails in conditioning my hair. I was disappointed to find out that this expensive conditioner could not even deliver results that a cheaper conditioner could.

Price:

I think the full size will cost around Php 1,000.

In summary:

I do not recommend buying into the temptation of these promo products next time you're in a salon. I guess Schwarzkopf are just not compatible with my hair since they haven't performed well for me; even their hair dyes don't stick as long. With it's poor performance, it's better to stick with cheaper conditioners for your treated hair.

I hope this has helped you a little in deciding whether to go for that promo deal the next time you're asked to buy your salon's products. Do share with me if you had the same or different experience using Schwarzkopf brands.

I usually have my hair around shoulder length to maybe 4 inches long from my shoulder. Now my hair is longer, almost mid way from shoulders to spine. My hair stylist said that I look good with long hair so I try to maintain it for as long as I can. Unfortunately, having long hair can be a challenge to maintain. My hair gets weaker and I also get frizz. I try to apply hot oil weekly to make it smoother and healthier but I also need daily conditioning.

Good thing this package was sent to me so I can try products that is hiyang to my hair. I saw the purple variant that's for Frizzy/Wavy hair and I just thought that it's PERFECT for me. It aims to make hair silky and straight.

I've used it for the past two days and this is what my hair looks like.

Frizziness lessened! (I'm at the office there and yes, we do have some stuffed toys lying around LOL)

I think I'll use this one next, which is for Normal Hair, for maintenance because it focuses on making the hair healthy and smooth.

Ugh! I also think this one will be good for my hair since it's for dry/coarse hair. My hair isn't like that, but my hair did get damaged when I had it colored. It's intensive moisturizing qualities will help with that.

What drew me to buy this was the fact that Argan Oil is known for keeping hair healthy, moisturized, and strong and it also makes your hair grow faster. I have thin hair and I'm trying to avoid further hair loss so I think I should look for better hair care products. 

Another thing that made me interested here is that it's sulfate-free. Whenever I get my hair colored, I'm advised to use sulfate-free shampoo so that the color wouldn't fade out. Unfortunately, I didn't get my hair newly colored to see if this helped at all. My last color treatment was February and I think it will be unfair to do comparison with that.

At first glance, I noticed that the product is not the usual thick and creamy consistency that we see in drugstore brand shampoos. The color suits the name "Liquid Gold" because of its honey-gold color. The consistency, as seen in the photo above, is quite runny. When used, I noticed that it doesn't foam up, something I've noticed with all the organic shampoos that I've tried. There's also a mild, sort of floral-ish scent that do not really linger on hair minutes after rinsing off.

As I am writing this post, I've already finished the bottle. What I've noticed is that my hair feels healthier and not anymore as brittle from all the chemical treatments I've done (like the bubble hair color I did last February). The strands are stronger as it doesn't easily break from the root when pulled. So I can easily say that this product helped a lot in improving the health of my hair and making it stronger. 

Do take note that during the month and a half that I used this bottle, I wasn't able to get my hair cut. My last haircut was last October and from that time until now, my hair grew an estimate of 7-8 inches. My hair usually grows fast so I can't really say if this product helped in growing my hair faster. If it did, then yay! ;)

Lastly, I still think a good conditioner should be paired with this. For me, it doesn't make my hair as soft and smooth as I like when used alone. It took care of the frizziness but I like the soft texture of my hair when touched and I think the shampoo alone can't give me that so I recommend you get a conditioner... maybe an organic one... or better yet the conditioner version of this variant. I haven't tried that, but since I've noticed positive results with this shampoo then maybe pairing it with its conditioner can improve the hair even better.
