FOTD: Blonde Hair Red Lips Combo

Hello ladies,

I have always wanted to color my hair differently especially after I had that balayage treatment a few years back. So after last year, I was finally able to get my hair colored.

So I went to Vivere salon and told my stylist, Ms. Rich Abella that I wanted purple hair. However, since I previously had my hair colored blue-black and I wanted dark purple, bleaching will take more than one session. So for this coloring job, we had to divide it into two sessions.

So I actually achieved two hair goals in two weeks. Week 1, I was blonde but my hair was more yellow than the nice blonde we see on film so it was a struggle to fix up my make-up and make it look natural on me.

Dawn came to my rescue with a few brow kits (Kanebo Kate Eyebrow Mascara in LB-1 and Etude House Easy Brow Pencil) and it helped up-lift my face and make the blonde work. Which came in a good time because my cousin's wedding happened that weekend and my blonde hair was immortalized.

And this was how I wore it to the event. Simple classic red lips and a french twist hairstyle to keep everything classy.

I do think french twist looks better with colored hair since you can see the twist better than when it's done on black hair.

It's quite easy to do. I actually did this one myself. It's easier to do on short and medium length hair rather than with long hair. There are a number of youtube video tutorials on how to do it. And here is one.

Do you think I pulled off the blonde hair look? I'll be posting my purple hair in a few days so hope you read that too. Plus, since my birthday is coming up soon, we'll be launching a birthday giveaway in a few days, wait for that as well.

Cheers,
LIZ

Balayage Styled Blonde: Something Different from L'Oreal Professional INOA and Hairworks

Good evening ladies,

Since Dawn has colored her hair, I cannot allow myself to fall behind. So, even though I was from 24 hour duty from the hospital I opted to head straight to Hairworks Salon Makati.

Here I am, flying solo, taking the last pic of my hair bathed in the light of the sun.

It's my first time to head to Hairworks salon and I have to say, I kind of feel out of place in such a posh place.

It was the middle of the day when I came and the salon wasn't as busy, but by the time I was done there, about 6 customers had already gone.

So here I am comfortably awaiting my turn. With my book to accompany me... nerds need beautifying too. :)

This is the first hair color that I had little choice over the actual color that goes to my hair. Borge, my stylist, simply asked me one question, "So what do would you like to do today?". To which I replied, "I want to go blonde however, I might get sanctioned at the hospital... Golden brown then?"

He then proceeded to tell me that I can go blonde without compromising myself in the hospital. He said we can do Balayage coloring on your hair. And from there... I left everything up to him.

So the whole process first involved coloring the top part of my hair blonde - shockingly yellow. SEE... at some point I felt like GD. Hehe. :)

Then recoloring it with a more natural toned blonde that would lighten my dark hair and tone down the blonde highlights on top leaving a gradient effect. They use L'Oreal INOA for the full hair coloring. Here are the hair color swatches available for L'Oreal INOA.

So a little something about INOA. Unlike conventional hair colors, INOA has no ammonia, therefore does not have that characteristic hair color odor. It's oil based and it promises optimal scalp comfort and optimal respect for the hair. It's also a little tricky applying it, the colorist said when applying the INOA, you'd need to apply a little more pressure and to massage the product well into the hair so that the hair can absorb it better. You leave it on for 35 minutes and then shampoo and rinse twice.

However, I have to disagree a little with the optimal scalp comfort, I guess it's because my skin's a little more sensitive than most; there was still some sting felt over the scalp which did go away after the wash off.

And here's the finished product. Balayage Blonde hair... the effect is somewhat a reverse hombre, gradient hair color, bright on top then a little dark on the bottom. The dark parts help contour the face making the bottom slimmer and helps emphasize the cheek bones.

There you go. Happy to have had my dream of going blonde happen.

Many thanks to my stylist Borge for the new hair do and to the staff of Hairworks Salon. They were very welcoming. And also MANY thanks to L'Oreal Professional and Wear Your Color Proud for the hair color.

I haven't had the chance to take a pic of my hair under the sun... that will be my to follow post.

Anyway, I hope you also like this new hairdo of mine as much as I do. And I hope you try it too and try L'Oreal Professional INOA as well.

Cheers,
LIZ

BYS Brow & Eye Pencil in Blonde

Hey loves!

Here's another review of one of the items I got from an event of BYS a couple of months back. I think some of you might like to try this especially those who need to fill-in their brows. We should always try to make our brows looking well since it makes all the difference in our makeup look because it frames our face and just makes us look better!

BYS Brow and Eye Pencil in Blonde

This is around Php 250.00.

I like that you don't have to sharpen it anymore. I'm lazy like that. Haha!

The shape of the pencil makes it easier to manipulate so you can draw and shape the brows well though I prefer it to be like of Etude House's which is triangular.

I need to fill-in some areas of my brows because of over-plucking. I have thick, dark brows so it's been such a problem of mine to shape and groom them. Right now, I just fill them in with a brow pencil then put brow mascara.

Here's a swatch on my hand

It's kind of waxy which kind of tames the brows the same time if you apply it along the hair of your brows.

And here are before and after shots of my left brow:

when product is applied

Here are my brows filled-in with the BYS Brow & Eye Pencil in Blonde...

As you can see, they are filled in and after that, I will apply a brow mascara. I use a lighter shade than my natural hair like brown or bronze.

Anyway, I think this shade is too light on its own on me (if I don't put brow mascara). My brows look ash greyish. I still prefer putting my brow mascara like in this pic below:

This brow pencil isn't waterproof and can easily be removed with sweat or when you get oily so it might be better if you bring it along for retouching.

Also, if you have heavy hands, you don't have to worry since this wouldn't make your brows too dark and strong. :)

Like I said before, the blonde shade is not for me but I am willing to try the other shades.

What do you think of BYS Brow & Eye Pencil in Blonde?

Cheers!
