Bath&BodyWorks: Aromatherapy - Sleep Lavender Vanilla Sugar Scrub

Hello ladies!

 

I've recently moved to San Francisco for my two year masters and have had quite a skin predicament. My skin just immediately dried up and had rough patches especially around the lower back and thigh area. I did up my "daily" (cause I was lazy) dose of lotion from once a day to twice a day with accompanying oil and Nivea In-Shower lotion but alas, rough edges remains.

 

Since a loofa is discouraged by my derma - I get red dots which look like hemorrhages on my skin after loofa - I went looking for a salt scrub or something similar for my exfoliation needs.

 

I went with Bath&BodyWorks simply because it's the nearest one to where I am currently residing.

 

 

The aromatherapy sugar scrub line has 4 aromas: eucalyptus spearmint (stress relief), lavender vanilla (sleep), orange ginger (energy), and eucalyptus tea (stress relief). When I went shopping they only had the lavender vanilla and eucalyptus tea in the store. I honestly just grabbed lavender vanilla because of the big word: SLEEP, and I do not regret choosing it.

 

So the product really does smell very relaxing and sleep inducing. The instruction actually says to breathe in deep while you are doing your scrub.

 

 

You do have to be very careful when opening it as it's very fluid on top, which I think is all the essential oils, and then settled at the bottom is the sugar.

 

 

To be hygienic, I have designated a plastic spoon to be my scooper. One tablespoon is about the best amount for me to use during exfoliation. I do this once or twice a week.

 

 

The exfoliation is quite gentle and the texture is a little rougher than a salt scrub. It feels like it melts away after sometime while you're scrubbing and it leaves a smooth film over your skin. It has slowly but surely improved the texture of my skin. After just two scrubs the rough patches are gone and only visual traces of them remains.

 

However, it doesn't really help me sleep faster, but it does uplift my spirits and calm me down after a hectic day.

 

This product is not animal tested and since it's sugar, it will not deposit any small material that are harmful to fish.

 

One tub costs $16.00 and I think is just about right since it can last you a long time. Just be sure to use a spoon so you can measure your use well.

 

Anyway, that's it for this short review of this product. I'll post more in the coming days about my current skin care routine and the current condition of my skin. And I promise the products I will review will be available in the Philippines as well. :)

This product was included in a set when I bought BeatyMNL's TGIF kit. The whole kit is PhP 999.00 but this 120g tub of Body Scrub is PhP 220.00.

I use the Bath Junkies Strawberry Samba Body Scrub twice to thrice a week. I use this more often compare to the previous ones I've used because this is gentler. After I use this, I feel like my skin is smoother and it never made me feel dry. The best part is that the scent lingers for a few more minutes after use. :)

As mentioned, the apricot seeds are pretty gentle so I would recommend a grittier scrub if you also deal with in-grown hair like me, which I get from waxing. 

So I guess that's all I can say about the product. It's a gentle scrub with an awesome fragrance. I recommend you check this out to see for yourself. :)

Zenutrients Luxurious Goat's Milk and Oatmeal Body Scrub

It's a long weekend for me because of the Chinese New Year celebration in the next couple of days. Yayyy! As usual, I will spend some of my free time to pamper my skin (while doing some chores LOL). One of the things I do is to exfoliate twice a week to get rid of dry, flaky skin, dead skin cells, and dirt. It also helps in making things easier when it comes to taking care of those nasty ingrown hairs I get because of waxing.

I've used many scrubs now and the one I'm currently using is...

Zenutrients Luxurious Goat's Milk and Oatmeal Body Scrub

PhP 234.00

This one is 100g. It also comes in a 300g which costs PhP 390.00

It's housed in this simple clear tub. You get a glimpse on the color and the scrubs. I already have a clue on the creaminess as well as how the scrubs would feel on my skin. 

As a person who graduated from Fine Arts and Design in college, I have to comment that the design isn't really that... appealing to me. I expected more from Zenutrients since it has been around for a while and has been expanding their physical as well as online stores around the country. But I guess if they are getting enough sales, then why spend more? Haha! Anyway, I just like seeing pretty stuff. :P

At the side of the tub you'll see the labels containing important infos like manufacturing and expiration dates, ingredients lists, and the instructions on how to use.

As stated in the "How to" part, I use this twice a week. I usually apply it on my elbows, knees, and legs. I don't use it on my face as I have a different product for that. Although this scrub is good for facial use as recommended on the info, but only once a week.

What made me buy this, aside from the fact that I regularly exfoliate, is that it smells so wonderfully delicious! I love milk products, especially when they smell sweet and creamy and the scent of this one is just that! It makes my bath time a treat!

The apricot scrubs are mild that it won't scratch your skin, but still exfoliates well. I do like my scrubs on the legs a little more gritty though to help free the ingrown hairs when I have them. If you do not suffer from the "ingrown problems" then I'm sure you'll enjoy using this scrub as much as I do.

The creaminess of it also left my skin soft so even though I exfoliated and gotten rid of those extra things like dirt, dry skin, and excess oil, my skin felt soft and smooth.

I like it but I still prefer grittier scrubs. The price is affordable but I know some scrubs that are cheaper but perform pretty much the same. Still, I would recommend this if you're looking for a gentle scrub you can use. I also would recommend it just because of how amazing it smells! Haha!

All these products smell so good. It's like a sweet nutty flavor. I am really liking it. Although this is still not one of my favorites (I LOVE Moringa and Vanilla most, of course), this is still quite addicting!

I'm no stranger to the body butters and body scrubs from The Body Shop. They are all really good and these new additions are also as good as the other ones. It will really leave your skin softer and smoother and smelling oh so good! The Radiant Oil, on the other hand, is my favorite because it just does wonders to my hair! It keeps it moisturized and makes it look healthier. You should definitely check this out!

A Day of Relaxation at Princess Hazel Salon & Spa

In the past weeks, I've been feeling stressed because of the tons of work I have to do in school and at work. I've been worried about so many things and I've lacked hours of sleep. During the times that I can go to bed early, I have a hard time sleeping. So yeah, the past weeks were difficult for me.

So I was so happy when I was invited to try out the services at Princess Hazel Salon & Spa. I'm a bit aware of this place because I saw some blog posts about it. 

They invited me and even let me choose the time that is most convenient for me, which I very much appreciate. I have been working and studying almost everyday of the week so my time is really important right now. So I scheduled on a day that I know is much deserving of a pamper session. I decided to go on a Saturday after my class at graduate school. I thought that after a long week, I want to get some rest and do something I like a lot, which is anything beauty related.

Princess Hazel Salon and Spa is located at the 2nd floor of the Pacific Century Tower at Quezon Ave. It's near EDSA too so getting there is quite easy. I drove to the place and it was actually the first time I get to drive that far north alone. But good thing the place was very easy to go to.

When you arrived at the entrance, you will be greeted by purple walls and golden embellishments. So royal! 

They promise you a royal treatment! You'll get pampered from their variety of services, you will feel comfortable with their very friendly staff, and you also get to wear a crown while sitting on a throne! I'm not even kidding, check out the photos below:

A crown is provided for every chair/throne. You can wear them while you get your nails done and get a perfect royal selfie!

 The chairs look so regal, even the pillows are made with gold patterns!

They separate rooms for different services like a wax area and the RF (Radio Frequency) room...

 There's an area for the hair services...

 ...and also a place for the massage and body scrubs.

This is actually the place where I spent most of my time at Princess Hazel Salon and Spa the most because the services I got was a whole body scrub and massage!

I wasn't able to take much pictures because the lights were very dim to create a relaxing ambiance.

So yeah, this is the only selfie I can do because it was very dark. :P

So anyway, let's talk about my experience during my body scrub and massage sessions. My masseuse was Alma. She was very friendly and easy to get along with. I don't get much body massage because I get very conscious with my body being exposed and touched by a stranger, but Alma made me feel comfortable during the entire session.

You will be provided with a robe and a disposable underwear. You can also borrow some shorts if you prefer that one. 

So after I changed, I got my body scrub. The massage bed was covered in plastic to maintain the cleanliness of the bed. The scrub used smelled so good, but I can't remember what it was exactly... I asked but I just can't seem to remember... I think it's like cocoa butter or something similar to that. But it just smells really good that also helped me feel more relaxed. I'm also getting massaged during the body scrub so I began feeling sleepy (I only slept for around 4 hours the night before).

It's my first time to get a whole body massage and I didn't know what to expect as results. And after the scrubbing, I was wrapped in the plastic like a cocoon... or maybe just like a big plastic blanket for 10 minutes so that the scrub will linger and get absorbed by the skin. Then I get to rinse the scrub off my body. The bathroom was equipped with bathing products actually. There are small bottles of shampoo and conditioner and some shower gels, etc.

After rinsing, I immediately noticed how soft my skin became. I guess the dead skin cells on my body are exfoliated well. I couldn't stop touching my skin because it's just so smooth!

Anyway, the whole body massage came next. They used a massage oil that is pretty much close to the scent of the body scrub used on me. Alma did a great job with my massage. I am quite sensitive when it comes to massages. I am big and have a strong pain threshold so I don't mind if I get hard massages. But unfortunately for me, there was a time that I end up with a bruise or something. But on that day, I didn't. The pressure Alma applied during the massage session was just right. It was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. 

After almost an hour, the massage was over. I was surprised that it took that long because I was enjoying the pampering very much. And so I got changed back to my clothes and then enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea.

The Body Shop Special Edition Body Butter and Body Scrub in Blueberry

Good afternoon ladies,

Today we introduce the newest addition to the collection of body care from The Body Shop. Their special edition products in Blueberry.

The Body Shop's special edition includes: lip butter, shower gel, bath sponge, body lotion, body butter, and body scrub. The only ones that we could get our hands on are the body butter and body scrub.

The blueberry fragrance is a refreshing scent on the body. It's just light and fruity, I am happy that the scent is not strong since I get dizzy of heavy fruity scents. Anyway, as for the hydration, it's not any different as the other body butters from TBS. It's not a favorite of mine to use in this summer heat.

The body scrub however has more microbeads (if that is the term) compared to the others in the body scrub. So it's a really good scrub to use.

The scent lasts for at least two hours on the body but in this weather, it does not last as long. Anyway, it's still a good scrub to use.

Well, I hope you guys try them out. The bath sponge is really cute I think you guys would enjoy using it.
