Bath&BodyWorks: Aromatherapy - Sleep Lavender Vanilla Sugar Scrub

Hello ladies!

I've recently moved to San Francisco for my two year masters and have had quite a skin predicament. My skin just immediately dried up and had rough patches especially around the lower back and thigh area. I did up my "daily" (cause I was lazy) dose of lotion from once a day to twice a day with accompanying oil and Nivea In-Shower lotion but alas, rough edges remains.

Since a loofa is discouraged by my derma - I get red dots which look like hemorrhages on my skin after loofa - I went looking for a salt scrub or something similar for my exfoliation needs.

I went with Bath&BodyWorks simply because it's the nearest one to where I am currently residing.

The aromatherapy sugar scrub line has 4 aromas: eucalyptus spearmint (stress relief), lavender vanilla (sleep), orange ginger (energy), and eucalyptus tea (stress relief). When I went shopping they only had the lavender vanilla and eucalyptus tea in the store. I honestly just grabbed lavender vanilla because of the big word: SLEEP, and I do not regret choosing it.

So the product really does smell very relaxing and sleep inducing. The instruction actually says to breathe in deep while you are doing your scrub.

You do have to be very careful when opening it as it's very fluid on top, which I think is all the essential oils, and then settled at the bottom is the sugar.

To be hygienic, I have designated a plastic spoon to be my scooper. One tablespoon is about the best amount for me to use during exfoliation. I do this once or twice a week.

The exfoliation is quite gentle and the texture is a little rougher than a salt scrub. It feels like it melts away after sometime while you're scrubbing and it leaves a smooth film over your skin. It has slowly but surely improved the texture of my skin. After just two scrubs the rough patches are gone and only visual traces of them remains.

However, it doesn't really help me sleep faster, but it does uplift my spirits and calm me down after a hectic day.

This product is not animal tested and since it's sugar, it will not deposit any small material that are harmful to fish.

One tub costs $16.00 and I think is just about right since it can last you a long time. Just be sure to use a spoon so you can measure your use well.

Anyway, that's it for this short review of this product. I'll post more in the coming days about my current skin care routine and the current condition of my skin. And I promise the products I will review will be available in the Philippines as well. :)

Cheers,
LIZ

The Body Shop Flavoured Lip Gloss in Vanilla

Hello dears!

Here's a swatch post of a very fragrant lipgloss I got from The Body Shop.
It's the...
The Body Shop Flavoured Lip Gloss in Vanilla
This 12ml tube is Php 595.00 and it is included in their current Spring Trend Collection.
They also have a pink rose gloss shade included in the Spring Collection.

I LOVE Vanilla so when I got this, I was so happy. But then I thought, wait... this is a lipgloss... will the color of my lips be the same as the shade I see on the clear tube? Well, you'll see on the swatch photos at the later part of this post.

Labels on the tube

I'm honestly not a fan of lipgloss in tubes just because I hate squeezing it to get the product out. I tend to squeeze out too much.

So here are the swatches:

on my hand

Beautiful shimmer! If this were an eyeshadow, I would totally get one...

on my lips

My lips just got the very sparkly and fine glitters from the gloss. The color is pretty much the same except that it looks like Tinkerbell passed by and threw fairy dust on my lips. I wish it had some tint that is not... gold and shimmery so my lips would look alive. I can only use this when I have a lipstick underneath because alone, it looks... dull even with the glitters.

Good part about this is it smells so good! The vanilla scent is there but it's not too overpowering. It only smells like vanilla but doesn't taste like one. It's tasteless. If it were, I might just eat the gloss. Lol

So, any thoughts on The Body Shop Flavoured Lip Gloss in Vanilla?

Cheers,

Obsessed with The Body Shop's Vanilla Bliss

Hi lovely people!

I would just love to share this current scent obsession whenever I take my baths/showers.

The Body Shop's Vanilla Bliss

I have the Shower Gel and Body Polish
Been using them alternately the day I opened them last December (except for the week when I went out of town).

I think I have mentioned in some of my posts that I am a huuuugggeee Vanilla fan whether its skin care or Ice cream. But whenever The Body Shop's Christmas Limited Editions arrive, I'm usually torn with Cranberry Joy and Vanilla Bliss (Though Ginger Sparkle smells awesome too  - it reminds me of a really sweet root beer float).

But for this year, I'm all for Vanilla Bliss!
I don't know if they tweaked the formula a little or something but this is a winner scent for me! I can't get enough of it! A little of the products goes a long way. It gets foamy and the scent sticks to your skin. It's not the overly sweet scented Vanilla (which I still like since it is still Vanilla). The scent is just mildly sweet, warm and delicious and very addicting! And oh, the packaging is better this year compared to last year's too and they changed the scent's name from Spiced Vanilla!

I still have an extra Body Polish, which was a Christmas Gift from The Body Shop, in stock which I'm so thankful for since this scent is only available during the Christmas Season.
Maybe I should have gotten some more. I will surely miss it when I run out and I'd have to wait for a long time to get my hands on them again.

Do you like The Body Shop's Vanilla Bliss scent?
Do you love Vanilla Scents like I do?

Cheers!

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery

Hi guys!

We don't usually do food posts but I just love going to this cupcake place in Glorietta!

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery

I first noticed this place 2 weeks ago when I went to Glorietta's National Bookstore to buy some items I use for painting.

The place just looks so cute that I wanted to go inside! Plus, I'm a huge lover of vanilla cupcakes! ♥

Just look at the interior!
They have quite a variety of goodies in their menu!

They also have awesome lighting! Haha!
Great place to take a picture for a new profile picture for Facebook! LOL :P

The tea sets are too cute! I want me some!

And finally, this really cute couch! I want one for my room! The color combination is a favorite of mine!

So Liz and I finally ate here last Saturday.

We ordered one cupcake each and a cookie.
And they served it in a glass cupcake tray with glass cover!
I felt like a princess!

Other than the glass tray, they serve the other treats in a paper plate and use wooden forks. Quite environmentally friendly, huh?

They also serve you water there for free!

And if I haven't said the word "cute" enough for their interior, even the tissue napkins are cute! I don't know if the details can be seen in this pic but it actually has some butterfly relief designs on the napkins!

So anyway, here's what we ordered:
A Decadent Cupcake for Liz which is yummy but according to her, it can be too sweet.

A White Chocolate Chunk and Macadamia Cookie which I think is my favorite from the ones we ordered.

And of course, their Vanilla Cupcake for me. It's such a classic treat!

All of them are delicious,
though Liz and I agreed that the sponge cake can be more moist.

So if you are in the mood for something sweet and cute, Vanilla Cupcake Bakery is a place to go to! I bet you'd feel like a pretty little princess just like we did!

Cheers!

New Product : The Body Shop Body Mist

 Hello, hello! :D

This month, The Body Shop has been introducing to us some of their newest products.
I've already posted about their beautifying oils which I totally love! ♥

And for today, the product that I'd like to share with you are their:

 THE BODY SHOP BODY MISTS

These babies were just out a few days ago actually. June 14 if I remember correctly.
It's available in various scents:
From left to right: Moringa, Strawberry, Pink Grapefruit, Shea, Coconut, Vanilla, Satsuma and Mango

Though these new items were only out 5 days ago, I was able to take one home weeks ago from The Body Shop event I attended. Yayy! I was one of the first few people in the country to try it out! I feel special. Shucks. ♥

I got the vanilla one. My favorite! ♥

So here are some information about the Body Mists in Vanilla which I got from the press kits provided during the event:

VANILLA BODY MIST

Our Vanilla takes on a fresh new form. Spray this light scented body mist all over your body for a gentle burst of warm vanilla. It’s irresistible.

=Warm vanilla fragrance
=Light and fresh
=Use all over body
=Contains vanilla extract

How to use
Spritz it on after bathing or showering. Top up throughout the day.

STAR INGREDIENTS
Community Fair Trade ORGANIC alcohol
VANILLA EXTRACT

Phew... quite long huh? But as you can see with the description, the body mists contain ingredients that they got from their community fair trade. Curious on what it is? Read my blog post about it here.

The best thing about using The Body Shop products is that you get to support their projects to help communities and our Mother Earth because they make their products from natural ingredients and are cruelty-free.

You look good, feel good and do good!

These body mists sure do smell nice! I got to smell each of these bottles during the event too. My second favorite is Moringa and third is probably Shea.

I use these a lot! After I shower, whenever I go out (I even bring this along), and even before going to bed. I'm addicted to vanilla, you see! ♥
Although I love how it smells, staying power is not so... powerful. Haha!
Scent can probably last up to an hour or two. Then I'll just have to spray again. It isn't perfume so I guess it doesn't have to be strong but I just prefer those that I can smell for a long period of time. :P

Still a favorite fragrance from The Body Shop is their White Musk Libertine. ♥
Stays all day on me! Haha!

Oh and BTW,
I have mentioned about the new look of one of The Body Shop's best-sellers, their Body Butters!
Here's a poster where you can check the complete collection:

Here's some info from the press kits:
Celebrate our Style

IN 13  DIFFERENT FRAGRANCES, OUR BODY  BUTTERS  ARE AMONG OUR MOST FAMOUS PRODUCTS, WITH ONE TUB OF BODY BUTTER SELLING EVERY TWO SECONDS. AND NOW, THEY’RE GETTING A  BRAND NEW LOOK. WHAT ’S SO DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NEW DESIGN?

• Gorgeous photography focusing on a single natural ingredient
• Photography of the natural ingredients used a magnifying glass to highlight their beauty
• Logo surrounding the ingredient “protects” the natural ingredient within, symbolising our Protect the Planet ethos

I do like the new packaging because it looks more youthful and simple.
Can't remember what it used to look like?

Here's 4 of the old design.

So which one do you like more?

Have you tried the any of The Body Shop Body Mists yet?
Which one is your favorite?

Event : The Body Shop Introduces Their New Beautifying Oils

 Hi beautiful readers!

Yesterday, The Body Shop Philippines held an event at their branch in Glorietta 3 store wherein they introduced their newest products!

Loving their slogan, "Beauty with Heart."
That's what The Body Shop is all about! Cruelty-free products that make you beautiful inside and out! :)

Upon reaching the event's place, I saw this...
The store having a sale on selected items!
And some unfamiliar products too! This gave me an idea of what the event is about...

And what's this? A different look on the packaging of the Body Butters?

Anyway, after I registered, they took me to this little booth wherein it says,
"Free Hand Massage."
They will be using the newest product of TBS in the market,
The beautifying oils.

Gem was the one who gave me a hand massage.
She's really nice and talked to me about the new beautifying oils.

Here are the stars of the event.
These beautifying oils can be used on the body, hair and even on the face! They smell soooo good! I'll post more details and my thoughts regarding these babies in a separate post so please do wait for it! :)

Here are the scents available:
TBS Beautifying Oils in Shea, Strawberry, Moringa, Satsuma. Chocomania, and Olive

These two, Olive and Moringa, are my favorite among the scents!

Btw, there were also free makeovers! I wasn't able to get one since I was busy chitchatting with people and taking pictures. The ones who got their makeovers looked so fresh and stunning!

Displayed on the store with a "Coming Soon" signs were these Body Mist bottles!
These will be released this June.
TBS was generous enough to let us be the first few to try them out! I got my favorite among the bunch, Vanilla! Yay! I'm gonna get Moringa next! ♥

Another set of products coming soon are:
 The Lily Cole Makeup Line
Which will also be out this month!
These pretty little things are picked by TBS' New Global Ambassador, Lily Cole, herself!

The line includes:

 Lily Cole - Shimmer Cubes
Lily Cole - Lip & Cheek Dome in Crazy for Coral

Lily Cole - Pearl Radiance Primer
Lily Cole - Liquid Eyeliner

Lily Cole - Puff On Radiance
Lily Cole - Lip & Cheek Dome in Pinch me Pink

I wasn't able to test them but there will be a separate event for this one! Can't wait to try them out! Especially the shimmer and primer! :)

Also inside the store is this little area for snacks and refreshments!

Yummy cupcakes! We were told that these traveled from Bulacan!
All the trouble of driving to pick these up are so worth it! These cupcakes are just delish!

And some cold drinks were served. I was able to drink 2 bottles! Was very thirsty because of the hot weather that day.

Of course I have to visit my favorite area of every The Body Shop store...
No, it's not the makeup area...

It's their Fragrances! I'm just a fan! Their Libertine White Musk and Dreams Unlimited are ♥♥♥!

And there are also these cute gift sets of TBS products you can buy for friends, family or your special someone!

 And look what I found:
A set of body butters with the old design. Looking at these, I find the new ones looking more simple and youthful!

Besides the free hand massage and makeovers, there was also a small power point presentation prepared.

Kat gave us a very entertaining introduction of the topic

 while Jo-I presented the slides.
I really liked the presentation and how The Body Shop makes us
look good, feel good and do good!

What I love most about the presentation was reading The Body Shop's Manifesto.

"We believe true beauty comes from the heart.
For us, beauty is more than just a pretty face.
It's about feeling good and doing good too.
We make our products with love and care.
We source some of our finest raw ingredients
from the four corners of the globe.
We harness the skills of artisan farmers and
add our expertise to create effective products
that are wonderful to use.
We trade fairly so communities benefit as well as you.
We never test on animals, and all our products
are 100% vegetarian, We campaign with passion on issues
close to our heart, because activism is in our blood.
We always keep the people, animals and the planet in mind.
So when you shop with us, you are choosing...
BEAUTY WITH HEART."

Isn't that just beautiful? That's everything The Body Shop stands for and which makes it such a special brand for me.

And of course, the event won't be complete without pictures with people!!

 with Helen and Shen
I was with Helen during most of the event! Nice to finally meet you!

 with Danica!
I've met her in previous TBS events. She gave us detailed information on the new products!

Kat and Danica at the left pic and me with Angel at the right

and a fab group pic with these pretty ladies
From left to right: Kat, Danica, me, Shen, Helen, and Jo-I

And before leaving, they handed us some goodie bags which consisted of their products.

a bottle of their new Body Mist (I got vanilla! Yay!)
A big tub of the Chocomania Body Butter
and a Chocomania Beautifying Oil

I bet my sister, Trace, would love Chocomania!

On the drive back home, I was so excited to try them out!
Alas, I slept smelling sweet and feeling good! ♥

The event was fun and made me excited for the other products from The Body Shop that are soon to come, especially the Lily Cole makeup line!

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this post.
Which of the products are you interested to try? Are you excited as well with the new items The Body Shop has in store for us?

Cheers!
