Review: The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Lip Balm

Today I will be reviewing ...

The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Lip Balm!

So what does the product say?
This non-sticky balm quickly hydrates lips and has a fresh berry scent.
  • Instant hydration
  • Non-sticky
  • No parabens
 How to use:

Apply to lips throughout the day.

Ingredients                        Key ingredients
Cranberry extract • Community Fair Trade beeswax

Our Community Fair Trade beeswax comes from Cameroon, where it is harvested naturally from hives made of local, sustainable materials. The hives last six months only so that the bees living in them stay healthy.

Values                                  Our Community Fair Trade beeswax is supplied by Guide D’Espoir in Cameroon. It comes from hives handcrafted from locally sourced materials in the remote Adamaoua region. The traditional method of beekeeping helps promote strong, healthy bees and deters logging.

 Full Ingredients
Ricinus Communis Seed Oil (Emollient), Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax (Emulsifier), Lanolin (Emollient), Aroma (Flavour), Cera Alba (Emulsifier/Emollient), Hydrogenated Castor Oil (Emollient), Silica (Absorbent), Mica (Opacifier), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Vaccinium Macrocarpon Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Ammonium Glycyrrhizate (Flavour), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract (Natural Additive), CI 77891 (Colour), CI 15850 (Colour).

The product is in a tin container and weighs 15ml. That's certainly a lot and may last me several months. Not a fan of tin containers for lip balms though. I prefer those on tubes so you won't have to swipe your fingers on the product.
Price is P295.00

Here's a shot of my bare lips and with the product on.

It gives a sheer, glossy finish on your lips.
So if you like matte lippies (like i do), then it's not a good base for your lipstick.
It is not sticky at all but it does feel thick on the lips. Sort of buttery feeling. I'm not a fan of such.
And when it comes to moisturizing... I'd hate to say it but it doesn't perform the job. It just adds gloss on my lips but when it comes off, my lips still feel dry.
The scent is absolutely fantastic! Cranberry ♥! I'm very obsessed with the scent! I use the balm every night cuz I'm just so addicted to the smell!
I'm so happy the Cranberry Joy collection came back during the holiday season last 2011.

So to sum it all up:

What I like about it:

      • THE SMELL IS AMAZING -- ADDICTING!
      • Affordable at Php295.00
      • Contains 15ml
      • Locally available
      • It's from the Body Shop meaning it's nature friendly!

What I don't like about it:

  • Doesn't moisturize much
  • Feels buttery on my lips
  • I prefer lip balms on tubes (easier to apply)

Have you tried this product yet? What are your thoughts about it?

Cheers,
DAWN

  1. I also find the smell of cranberry addicting and was super envious of you when you got it. After reading the review it made me think of my own body shop lip balm... I'll test it out and compare with all the others I have.

  2. Oh I haven't tried this yet but it looks yummy. But the Cranberry Hand Wash smells amazing; more fragrant than the Cranberry Body Butter. :)
