Review : Prestige Cosmetics Universal Brow Styler Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil

Hey guys!

Sharing a short review of one of the products that I was able to get in a very affordable price. I do like to bargain hunt and if I find something good, the feeling of scoring it becomes even better. Anyway, here the main topic for today's post:

Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner

Hello dearies!

I've been using eyeliner a lot on my upper lash line. I like to wear the dramatic, winged liner the most and I usually use liquid or gel type eyeliners. I already love the effect of liquids and gels, but I would still try pencils from time to time, even though I'm already convinced that they are better of as liner for my lower lash line because my lids are just too darn oily! Haha!

The most recent pencil type liner I got is the...

Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner
I got this from a set I bought on sale at Beauty Bar. It was included in the Smashbox On The Rocks Eye Essentials. Got it for PhP 1,017.50. Original price was PhP 1,850.00.

Info from the website:

On a photo shoot, the crew can't wait around while makeup artists sharpen their pencils. That's why we developed this award-winning kohl eye liner, which self-sharpens automatically every time you twist off the cap. The high-impact, waterproof formula is packed with pigment. It's a precise pencil liner that performs like a liquid. Save time—and keep your eye makeup look totally on point!
TIPS: Want an even more intense eye look? Don't forget to line the inner rim for major definition! One tiwst of the cap will do it. No need to over twist to sharpen!
  • BENEFIT: Precise, waterproof, & non-flaking
  • Hyper-pigmented kohl for color-rich results
  • Can be used on inner rim
  • USAGE: One twist of the cap sharpens the liner so your eyes are always on-point!
  • INGREDIENTS: Formulated without Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Phthalates, Fragrance & Talc.

    INGREDIENTS: ISODODECANE , SYNTHETIC WAX , PENTAERYTHRITYL STEARATE/CAPRATE/CAPRYLATE/ADIPATE , HYDROGENATED POLYDICYCLOPENTADIENE , ETHYLENE/PROPYLENE COPOLYMER ,

It's available in eight shades according to the website. The one I have is Raven and it's the black shade.

So what makes this different from other liners is that it's always sharp! Well, it really makes a difference when you use a sharp liner, especially for winged lines/cat eye looks, which I absolutely love to wear.

It also claims to be very pigmented and easy to use because you only have to twist it up!

And here's what it looks like:

As you can see, it really is pigmented and it glides pretty smoothly. However, I have to go back and forth to create a solid color because you can still see some of the lines on my skin exposed. Fortunately, I don't have lines that deep on my eyes so I don't have to do that on my lids!

Now to test how well it performs...

Smudged a couple of times

Rubbed several times while dry

Smudged with water

Rubbed while wet

While it was dry, the line didn't move much. I was quite impressed! Even when it was smudged while wet, the swatch was not completely removed.

On the lids, I applied it smoothly but there were occasions that I had to go back to keep the line solid. The wing was harder to create compared to liquids but I think the one I made was clean enough.

I like that it was matte, but I wish it was blacker. My brow hair is still darker than this. Haha!

Unfortunately, the natural oils on my lids still made the liner smudge all over. *sigh* I guess I can't wear this as my go-to for applying my winged liner. Oh well.

It does help if I apply an eye primer + powder shadows, but I think I'll stick to liquids and gel liners and use this for the lower lash line instead.

Miniso BlowLash EX24 Perfect Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil in Red Brown

Hey guys!

During my first trip to Miniso, I was very curious about their very affordable products that I bought a few to try. One of them is this...

Miniso BlowLash EX24 Perfect Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil in Red Brown

I chose the shade Red Brown because I just colored my hair in the shade Red Wine when I bought this.

So first, let's get to know the product from the product descriptions.
I took photos of the labels on the packaging. Please see below and just click the image to enlarge.

Info from the website (AU):

The Auto Eyebrow Pencil is waterproof, the triangle shaped lead center is easy to manage. Create flawless arches with this eyebrow pencil, great colors, long lasting and natural looking.

Ingredients
 Beeswax,PEG-12 Copernicia Cerifera(Carnauba) Wax,Synthetic Japan Wax,PEG-20 Hydrogenated Castor Oil,Hydrogenated Lanolin,Cetyl Alcohol,Squalane ,Dimethicone,CI77891,CI77491,CI77499,CI77492,CI77266,CI77289,CI77288,CI19140.
Specification Net:0.3g

The product is double-ended. One end has the brow pencil that you twist-up, while the other end is a spoolie brush to help with the blending.

The design is just okay considering the price. For me it doesn't feel sturdy compared to other double-ended twist-up brow liners I've tried, especially the spoolie part.

It is true that the triangular shaped pencil "lead" makes it easier to control the lines you create. The slimmer side is great for thin lines especially at the outer parts of the brow while the thicker end makes filling in the brows easier.

These are the swatches

The color is not too intense which is ideal in creating a more natural-looking brow. It doesn't look like it on the swatch, but I find this too waxy.

When smudged with hand, it comes off easily. I don't know why it's called waterproof when it's so easy to remove. I didn't even need water.

Here's my brow without the product

with the product

My brows are too dark so I still need to use a brow mascara to make this red brown shade work. Applying it was easy except for the part that it's too waxy that it makes my brow hair stick to skin.

Overall, I would pass on this because even though it's very affordable, I think there are other brow pencils that work better for my brows that are near its price. However, this is not a bad product. I still can create a natural looking finish if you have thinner strands of brow hair.

So I guess that's all for the Miniso BlowLash EX24 Perfect Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil. What are your thoughts? Do you have some good makeup finds from Miniso that you can recommend to us to try?

Review : Shawill High Precision 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil

Hey folks!

Don't you just love it when you discover a good product and it's super affordable? That's one of the things that make me sooo excited as a beauty junkie. It's like I have this quest to find a dupe or a really awesome deal.

So a few months ago, I was in this "quest" of mine and I stumbled at the counter of Shawill. It's been a while since I checked any of their products out. The first thing that caught my eye was their Shawill Coloring Eyebrow and I was hoping that it will be a very affordable dupe of the K-Palette Brow Pen. I'll make a review of that soon. Anyway, the SA then recommended this eyeliner next. I was quite hesitant at first to buy it because I already have plenty of eyeliners lying around my stash... but then I swatched it and I got interested because it was really black. You'll see when I post the pictures later on the post. ;)

Shawill High Precision 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil

Another reason why I bought this is that it's only PhP 99.00! It's super cheap that I don't mind if it doesn't turn out well... but if it did, then I'll be super happy!

Anyway, check out the product info below:

A deep black, 24-hour lasting and waterproof eyeliner? That sounds like heaven! Not to mention how light it is on the wallet. This claim is too good to be true for me so to tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting much because it was so cheaply priced. :P

But for a PhP 99.00 eyeliner, the packaging looks great. The pink and black combination gives that sexy and feminine vibe. The size is non-bulky and very easy to carry when traveling.

The brush is like a felt tip pen's. The tip is not that fine but I think the thickness of the line it creates is good enough for an everyday look.

Here's a closeup.

And here's the swatch! See how black it is? I like that the formula is not runny that it sinks in the lines of my hands. And I also like that it dries fast so I don't need to wait too long to completely open my eyes.

To check the staying power, I did some tests...

Here's how it performed after I rubbed the swatch several times.

Here's how it did after rubbing it with running water.

It smudged a little but it's quite impressive how it stayed in-place given that I rubbed it quite hard while it was wet.

And check out below how it looks like when I apply it on top of my upper lash line:

It's quite easy to use—like drawing with a pen. I can get a solid line with just one stroke.

The product is really black but as you can see on the photo above, shimmery shadows can reduce the intensity of the blackness of the liner because the shimmers stick on the product. This factor is not very visible when you don't focus much on the eyes as you can see on a selfie below.

The staying power is fairly decent. I don't think it can withstand my oily lids for 24 hours. It actually starts to smudge at around 7 hours. I also don't think that it is completely waterproof because as you can see on the swatches I did, it started to smudge when I rubbed it with water. But hey, I don't think anyone would rub their eyes with water rigorously knowing they have eyeliner on (unless it's super itchy perhaps?).

Even though it can stay for a long while, removing it with makeup remover is easy. Just a few swipes of the cotton pad with makeup remover can do the trick. The finish of this is like those that you can peel off actually so I guess that contributes as to how easy it is to remove which is good because having to rub the eye area a lot is a no-no, especially since it is a sensitive area and it can lead to early signs of wrinkles.

To summarize my review:

What I LIKE:

- Very affordable at PhP 99.00
- Very black
- Lasts long
- Very water resistant
- Packaging
- Locally available (can be found in leading departments stores)
- Easy to remove with makeup remover
- Easy to manipulate
- Dries quickly after application

What I DO NOT LIKE:

- It smudges on my oily lids after around 7 hours of wearing
- The shimmers from my eyeshadows get stuck on the product, reducing the blackness

Would I repurchase? I probably would not. The product is good but I like it better if it really does not smudge on my lids. If you have dry to normal skin, then this would most probably stay on your lids, smudge-free, way longer and maybe even the whole day. I do recommend it to beginners. It will surely be a fantastic practice product. It's cheap and works quite well!

And that is my review! What are your thoughts on this product? Have you tried the Shawill High Precision 24h Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil yet?

Sephora Waterproof Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear in Green and Gold

Hey loves!

My best friend, Rica, who is currently residing in the US got us some new beauty toys to play with!

She gave Liz and I some skin care products from The Body Shop and these super pigmented Jumbo Liners from Sephora. She gave Liz and I two each and I'll be sharing the two shades I got in this post.

Sephora Waterproof Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear in Green and Gold

I think the other two shades that Liz got are in Turquoise and Violet. I'll try to ask her to post swatches of those liners too. :)

These are the info from their website

What it is:
A collection of jumbo eye pencils that can be used as eyeliners or blended out as eye shadows.

What it does:
These jumbo pencils create a range of effects, from bold lines and blended effects to thin, defined lines. Resistant to water, heat, and humidity, their creamy, high-pigment formulas apply smoothly. From deep blacks to rich and shimmery shades, each is formulated with exclusive waxes and pigments to assure maximum color intensity that stays put for 12-hours.

Suggested Usage:
-Draw a line from the inner corner to the outer corner of upper and lower lid.
-For a more dramatic effect: apply all over the eyelid.
-Pencil may be blended with fingers or a brush to spread color all over the eyelid.
-Layer two jumbo pencils to create your own custom look.
-Use 05 beige jumbo pencil as a base for your eyeshadow that lasts all day long.
-Use 01 white on the inner corner of the eye to make eyes pop.

Rica got these for us because when she tried it, she loved how pigmented and how long lasting they were and she wanted us to try them out too! How she raved about them made me so excited to get my hands on them!

So this is the Gold jumbo liner...

The shade is a shimmery, metallic, warm gold.

And this is the green liner...

It's less shimmery compared to the gold one.

These are the swatches.
They are very pigmented because I got these vibrant colors in just a stroke of the pencils!

And now, I'll share the post on how I tested the staying power of the products. First, I tried rubbing it with my fingers several times...

Nothing happened. I guess there are a little to almost unnoticeable "sparkles" of the gold smudged.

Here I rubbed it very hard with wet cloth and as you can see, it got smudged, especially the gold one. The green shade still looked clean but less color intensity. If you put it under running water, nothing happens but if you smudge it or rub it, then you will encounter this, something not so surprising when it comes to eye liners. I was expecting a stronger lasting power from it though but without forcing it to come off (like rubbing your eyes), it can last the whole day. I do have oily lids though so it tends to blend with my eyeshadow after half a day of wearing it. But it stays the whole day looking untouched when I applied it under my lower lash line. It just looks beautiful throughout the day and the intense pigments really makes your eyes so eye-catching!

And that's all for this post. I think there are dozens and dozens of shades available for these Waterproof Jumbo Liners 12HR Wear. I'd like to get some mauve and peach colors!

Have you tried these eyeliners from Sephora yet? What shades do you have/wanna get?

The Saem Eco Soul Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Coral Pink and Dreaming Purple

Hey loves!

I'm so sorry for being MIA for the past few days... I was busy catching up with friends before work and school start again. And also, I'm just feeling lazy. Haha!

So for my first post this 2015, I'll share my thoughts on these two eyeliners that really impressed me so much! The staying power is just amazing!

The Saem Eco Soul Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Coral Pink and Dreaming Purple

This is my first product from The Saem.

I don't think that this brand is available yet in the Philippines. My friend who visited South Korea last November bought this for me along with other makeup products that I will blog about soon. This brand is a bit familiar to me because one of the endorsers is G-Dragon, a member of the KPop group, BigBang, which I listen to.

Anyway, let's see what the product description says about the eyeliners...

Oooh! Waterproof! A word that when used to describe makeup becomes music to my ears.

Anyway, check out the other info on the labels on the packaging. See the photos below:

My friend didn't know what products to buy actually. I just told her that I wanted makeup and maybe something that is not yet available in the country. Para mas sulit!

I did mention that I would love to try more eyeliners and that's why she bought these.

I love the shades she bought. I do have purple liners but not in this particular shade and the hot pink color, on the other hand, is something I don't have yet.

Photos below are individual shots of the eyeliners...

The Saem Eco Soul Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Coral Pink

The shade is really pretty and intense! I think this isn't something I would pick for myself but I'm glad that my friend got this for me because this is really pretty!

The Saem Eco Soul Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Dreaming Purple

It's a very frosty purple that I think would look great in many of the makeup looks I make.

So here are the swatches:

They both glided smoothly on skin and the pigmentation is really intense in just one stroke.

Here's how it looks when I try to smudge it lightly

Impressive, right?

I tried to rub it with my fingers many times.

Then got a tissue and rubbed it rigorously.

AWESOME! Staying power really is awesome!!!!!

So I tried rubbing it with water and still, nothing happened.

And so I wiped it hard with cloth while it's wet and this is what happened.

The color is still there. The intensity of the color died down a little but it still looks great! See why I mentioned how impressive this is in the beginning of the post?

I usually wear the eyeliners under my eyes like on the pic above.

I really love the eyeliners. They are long-lasting, pigmented, and I believe that they are quite affordable (maybe around Php 200-300) too.

I wish The Saem would open in the Philippines because I want to buy more shades! :D

So what do you think of these eyeliners? Are you impressed as well?
