Review : Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream

Hey dears!

Okay... so... I always say that I prefer foundations over BB creams because I want coverage, but I still keep on buying BB creams. LOL Maybe I'm just stubborn like that... or maybe I'm just an impulsive buyer... or I'm probably both... But anyway, I bought another BB cream because I heard some bloggers saying how great this particular BB cream's coverage is.

And it's the...

Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream
I can't remember the exact price but it's between Php 350-400.00. I believe. :P

There aren't any English instructions on the tube packaging so...
I got some info from their US website:

Holika Holika Clearing Petit BB Cream contains extracts of tea tree oil and oil absorbent powder that helps clear your skin of blemishes; making you feel more comfortable and confident. Tea tree oil is effective against nail fungus, ringworm, athlete's foot, dandruff, acne, blackheads and many types of infestations/infections. "Tea Tree" yields an essential oil that is recognized as one of nature's most effective and versatile healers. Oil absorbent powders make this product perfect for those with oily skin.

Directions: Take an appropriate amount and apply a small dab to your cheeks, forehead, and chin. With the tips of your fingers spread bb cream evenly throughout your face. To avoid bb cream from caking, let sit for 5 minutes before building bb cream up for more coverage, and before apply any loose powders to set it with.

Benefits:
  • Improves Troubled skin
  • Moisturizes
  • Oil control
  • UV protections

The tube packaging is soft but sturdy. It's easy to squeeze out the product but the mouth is small enough to control the amount you let out. The cap has a stopper so that the cream won't spill.

This BB is very creamy but still easy to spread. It's helps if you have a primer on so that it glides on the skin better.

It smells really good. Like herby-floral scent... it reminds me of a shampoo though... I just can't pin point what exactly...

swatch on paper

It's beige-y or pinkish... making my warm undertone look... well, greyish. Check out how it looks like on the back of my hand on the photo below:

It doesn't really blend well with my warm skin tone (take note that the back of my hand is quite darker than my face). It helps if you combine it with a BB/foundation that is more your color or top it off with powder that matches your skin color.

So here are photos of my cheek without and with the product:

The shade is closer when applied on my face but it still makes it kinda pinkish...

It has medium coverage. It hid my redness and some of my dark spot. The very dark ones are still visible but nothing a good concealer can't fix. It also has a semi-matte finish and has SPF 30 and PA++.

This BB cream can last the whole day on me but I may have to blot off the oil on my face for more than a couple of times. I guess the oil control is not too good for my super oily skin. So does the tea tree quality feature do anything for my skin? I don't think so since I still get very oily and I don't think it does much on my acne either.

What I LIKE:

- SPF 30 and PA++
- Affordable
- Good coverage
- Love the scent!
- Locally available
- Cute packaging
- Long lasting
- No breakouts
- No caking

What I DON'T LIKE:

- It is too beige-y
- Doesn't really control my oiliness

Would I repurchase?
I most probably won't since it doesn't fully match my skin and I like trying different brands. :)

So what do you think of this BB Cream? I believe this the petit line has other types of BB cream... Have you tried any of them yet?

Cheers,
DAWN
