Makeover: Vireza is a Rocker Chic!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well.

I've been pretty busy in the UST College of Fine Arts and Design with some pretty interesting projects; one of which is to style a friend for a photoshoot inside the classroom for photography class! Here's a preview:

She looks like Grace Lee, right? Haha!

Anyway, here are my groupmates who have been/will be featured in PPS:
  • Vireza is the sultry girl above. I transformed her look from a sweet teenybopper to a total rockstar! Plus, I was able to successfully give her a crease...
  • Kaila's post will be up soon, and I promise she'll look very different!
  • Anna is the photographer, and she was the previous makeover victim here, together with Vire.

My best friends in AD-5!

Without further ado, here are the items I used:

Makeup Base: The Face Shop Makeup Base (Violet), Kryolan Eye Makeup Base
Foundation: Maybelline clear smooth foundation, 4U2 (no.3)
Contour: DollFace Cosmetics Contour palette
Concealer: DollFace Cosmetics Concealer Palette
Eyeshadows: DollFace Cosmetics 88 palette,Prestige Cosmetics My little black book eye lip and face palette
Eyeliners:  Nichido liquid eyeliner (black), Nichido Eye Contour Pencil (Blackest Black and Nice Gal), MAC eyeliner in Bountiful Brown
Mascara: Maybelline Volume Express Cat Eyes
Blushes: Skin 79 Diamond Collection Star Glow Cheek, NARS Orgasm
Lipstick/gloss: Chanel Glossimer (Magnifique), Personi lipstick in Fuschia Pink

Wisps of hair. And sorry, Vire wants her eyebrows to remain untouched!!

Funny pose

Trying to be sexy, Vire!?

I love this picture! Gee whiz!

These are all amateur attempts. To tell you the truth, I am not entirely satisfied with everything since we were pressed for time (other groups were in line to shoot at the improvised studio in the classroom after us). This explains why I wasn't able to retouch the makeup and why we have limited clothing choices.

But in spite of these setbacks, I hope the pictures show promise! =) I know there are a lot of makeup artist bloggers out there, and I will really appreciate if you could give me tips!

Cheers,
Dawn

EOTD: Orchid Eye

Hi Girls!

I was previously an Accountancy Major @ UST, but being there really frustrated me. I wanted to unleash my creative juices, which explains occasional drawings here and there. This is one of the pictures I drew waaaaay back before I shifted to the College of Fine Arts and Design, using colored pencils and my imagination:

And Now... Here's an Eye Makeup Shot Inspired by the Orchid.

KRYOLAN Eye Makeup Base
Dollface Cosmetics 88 pc Eye Makeup palette
MAC Fluidline in Black Track
The Body Shop Sparkle Rollerball

Can you believe I actually went to school with this kind of eyeshadow on? Hahaha!

I hope you like it... I love that I can do art both on paper and on my face! =)

Cheers,
Dawn

Review: Glitter Glue = Kryolan Eye Shadow Base

Get ready for an amazing discovery! I am talking about the magical powers my sister and I found out about:

Eye Shadow Base 10 ml

The excellent durability of eye shadow colors can be even further enhanced if Eye Shadow Base is applied thinly and uniformly onto eyelids before application of eye shadow.

See, there are particular products that just won't stay on - I'm talking about glitter products. And no, not MAC Pigments but shining, shimmering, sparkling glitter. We own one in our stash that we have had a problem with:
The Body Shop Sparkle Roller Ball.

Problem: We can't get the sparkles to adhere and stay put! It scatters everywhere on our faces that we look like misplaced ethereal creatures (of course, maganda pa rin hahaha). We've used both cream and powder shadows as bases, and although they help a bit, they only do so for a while. After an hour, the glitter's all gone from our eyes and have migrated to our faces! So thank goodness we've tried Kryolan and discovered the difference it makes...

This is so beautiful and fairy-like when used appropriately.
For pretty swatches of this one, see:

Without primer
(grainy!)

Without primer, then smudged
(where where where has everything gone??)

With primer
(sparkles prominent and pretty!)

With primer, then smudged
(intact!)

See,
the sparkle stays put like wow! Look at how pretty sister's eyes are!

The sparkles stayed on for 5 hours on her. Truthfully, some did fall out but enough stayed to keep up with the look.

A caveat before you finish reading: My sister and I have never used any primer specifically for the eye area. Upon purchasing this, however, my lemming for UDPP has been extinguished! Eyeshadow and eyeliner stay on better on our lids because of this product - fading has been minimized but not completely eliminated (with our climate's humidity and our extremely oily lids, we're not expecting too much). Good enough!

Reviews on this particular product vary from praise to rant. Check out the following:
