Blinc Eye Shadow Primer in Clair

Hey everyone!

Just sharing one of the eye shadow primers that I used that actually worked on my oily lids:

Blinc Eye Shadow Primer in Clair

I found this at Beauty Bar on sale. I forgot how much I got it. I love wearing eye shadow but I have oily lids so I was on a look-out for good primers that will help me to not get my eye makeup creasing on my lids.

Yves Rocher Fixing Eyelid Primer

Hello dearies!

I like wearing eyeshadows, but having oily lids can easily ruin your eye makeup so I use primers to prolong the makeup wear.

One of the primers I've used is...

Yves Rocher Fixing Eyelid Primer
Regular price is around PhP 600 but bought it for PhP 357.50 (I got it at 40% off).

Let's get to know the product first by reading the info on the labels:

Info from the website:

Smoothes eyelids and intensifies eyeshadows colors.
Infused with Camellia oil, the Yves Rocher Fixing Eyelid Primersmoothes, fills wrinkles and fine lines and makes eyeshadows more radiant and last longer.

Result: Radiant makeup that lasts longer!

The Plus: applied to eyelids on its own, the primer produces a perfecting effect for flawless eyes.

Tested under ophthalmological and dermatological supervision.

0.23 fl. oz. / 7 ml Tube

Ingrédients :cyclopentasiloxane,silica,dimethicone crosspolymer,aqua/water/eau,glycerin,methylpropanediol,bis-peg/ppg-14/14 dimethicone,tocopheryl acetate,disteardimonium hectorite,camellia oleifera seed oil,phenoxyethanol,triethoxycaprylylsilane,tocopherol,pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate,ci 77491/ci 77492 (iron oxides),ci 77891 (titanium dioxide)

The reason I bought it is when I took a swatch, the texture reminded me of primers such as the one from Benefit and Too Faced, but this one is more affordable. It's soft and smooth with very little stickiness that help bind the eyeshadow pigment better.

I also like that it has this yellowish tint to it. It sort of gives a sheer coverage and acts as a primary base so that the colors added next will pop better.

It blended easily on skin so there's no worry that you might tug the skin around the eye area. We don't want that, especially since that area is very sensitive and prone to wrinkles.

On the photo above, I put two swatches. The left without the primer, the right with primer.
I intentionally got an eyeshadow that's not chalky but still not so pigmented to see how good this primer is in making the pigments stick together to create a more colorful finish.

As seen on the photo, it clearly did its job of intensifying the color. It's darker and fuller.

I tried smudging the eye shadow off lightly and got this result. Both swatches are still there but the one with the primer barely moved.

When I smudged it heavily, both were mostly removed but the one with primer is more visible.

But when water is involved, both were completely removed. I didn't expect that it would stay because I doubt that it would be waterproof. They don't claim that anyway. I just wanted to test it. Haha!

This primer does an awesome job making the lids look and feel smooth. It's a good base that makes your eyeshadow look more intense. It does prolong the eyeshadow wear, but on me, it can only last for a good 2-3 hours before it starts to crease. I have very oily lids and I will need better primers if I want an all-day wear.

I partner this with a glittery and long-lasting cream nude eye shadow then top it with powder eyeshadows (in combinations that I like depending on the look I'm going for). In short, this and the cream shadow became my base/primer. This combination can stay all day without creasing.

And that's my short review of the Yves Rocher Fixing Eyelid Primer!

Sephora Perfecting and Smoothing Eye Primer

Hey guys!

Just sharing a short review of this product that I got from my sister.

Sephora Perfecting and Smoothing Eye Primer

I like wearing eye makeup. Unfortunately, I have oily lids, so my eyeshadows and eyeliners often smudge and crease after some hours. The good thing is that there are primers that help prolong wear and at the same time make the eyeshadows more vibrant since the pigments adhere better.

That's what this primer from Sephora promises along with moisturizing qualities. You can even use it for undereye concealer!

Check out the info on the labels on the photos below:

The product is colorless and scentless. I think this is already phased-out though because I don't see it on any of the brand's online stores. Still sharing my review just in case any of you are looking for one. ;)

It says it smoothens which I do agree.

It glides smoothly and it makes the area it's on feel silky. When it dries, it gives a matte finish as seen below.

And when I add the powder eyeshadow...
Left: No primer
Right: With primer

Pigment-wise, the color didn't change unlike some primers I've used wherein the pigments look darker than normal. The eyeshadow adhered better with the primer as well.

I've actually finished the whole sample-size tube some months back and I can say that I don't think it's moisturizing. I tried using it under my under eye concealer but my makeup still cakes (I like baking so I do put on powder on top of my concealer on that areas). This doesn't happen when I put on eye cream. I guess that's an unfair comparison since eye cream has better moisturizing ingredients. Haha! :P

Although it's good at smoothening and keeping the pigments in place, it doesn't do well with my oily lids. The makeup on top of the primer still creases before my day at the office ends. I can easily say that it's not one of my better performing primers. Oh well.

And that's my short review! I hope it was helpful!

PIXI Lustrous Eye Primer

Hey loves!

I love eyeshadows. And if you're like me, then you probably love using eye primers too to make your eye makeup bolder and longer lasting.

I've tried really good ones like those from Urban Decay, Dior, and Too Faced; while I've also tried those that aren't that good (you can check my eye primer reviews here). I still like trying primers from other brands, so whenever I see something on sale, I buy it to see if it's good. Here's one that I bought when I went to a bazaar:

PIXI Lustrous Eye Primer
The shade is in Gold Lustre.

You can see the product details on the box packaging.

I tried looking up at their website for more info but it seems like it's been phased out since it isn't there anymore. So I got some details from Oz Cosmetics:

  • Helps banish fatigued eyes & transform them into vigorous looking eyes
  • Evens out skin tone & imparts a hint of radiant gold to skin
  • Ensures sleeker lids & longer lasting eye shadow
  • Also works as a highlighter on brow & cheek bones

I like primers that can even out the color of my lids... like it has a bit of coverage. But I want the coverage to be like a concealer type that's matte... Or at least just a skin tone color. So when I saw that it's gold, I was hesitant at first but I took a chance and still bought it.

It's in a pen form. You just twist the bottom end and the product goes to the brush end of the packaging. I just need to twist it for about 4 clicks to get the product out.

The applicator is a synthetic brush. It's pretty smooth so it's okay to apply it directly on the eyelids.

Here's what it looks like
It's gold and shimmery!

Here it is on my hands when spread-out

And on my lids

It looks really good. It can actually be a good cream eyeshadow just by looking at it. It's very smooth and it can be easily applied evenly.

As primer, it can  make your eyeshadow appear bolder. See the photo below:
Left: no primer, Right: With the primer

To check if it lasts long, I wiped the area with tissue and here's what I got:
The swatch without primer disappeared while the one with the product is still here.

It's pretty impressive, right? Though I have noticed that it changes the color of the eyeshadow. One good example is the swatch below. I used eyeshadows from Lorac and look how it darkened the shade, it's almost brown!
I think the gold color influenced the eyeshadow too much that it changed it's color.

When I wipe off with tissue, it still held the swatch impressively but the color is still different.

It doesn't really bother me if it changes the color, I can work the colors anyway. It will be a hassle though if you have a specific look in mind.

And even if it holds the eyeshadow well when wiped off, I have noticed that it doesn't do well when my eyelids get oily. The eye makeup creases on my lids badly after 5-6 hours. It was such a let down to be honest.

Overall, I'm not impressed with this. My primary reason why I use primers is to prolong the makeup. The creasing part makes this primer a no-no in my book. The changing of colors also can be an issue sometimes... so yeah, I'm not a fan of the PIXI Lustrous Eye Primer. :P

What do you think of the PIXI Lustrous Eye Primer? What eye primer would you recommend me to try next?

Missha The Style Eye Prime Boomer in Yellow

Hey gorgeous!

Just sharing a short review on this product I bought several months ago. Actually, I was considering not to push through with this post but I decided to share my experience with this product whether it is good or bad.

Missha The Style Eye Prime Boomer in Yellow
I can't really remember how much I bought this... my guess is somewhere around Php 400.00? Not sure though.

As some of you know, I love applying eye shadows and I've grown to love eye shadow primers because they make the eye makeup stand out more and stay longer. They became a must in my makeup routine and that's why I love trying out different brands to see what works best which led me to buying this product.

Info on the package:

Info from the website:

Brighten up those dark-colored eye areas and dark circles.
The yellow colored eye primer helps eyes look bright by covering up redness and dark areas.
It has a soft texture with excellent adhering effect. Containing Hollyhook extract, it is well absorbed and adhered to eye areas. For moisturizing effect, Aloe extract soothes and moisturizes your delicate skin.

The product looks like this. I don't know if there's a separate proper container for this that you can buy because you only get a cheap, see-thru plastic compact.

It's not at all sturdy and can get easily deformed. I don't want to remove it from the plastic container because since it is cream-based, it can easily accumulate dirt and bacteria. But oh well. Just be extra careful with it.

This comes in two colors—yellow and beige. The one I have is yellow.

They are actually pigmented for a primer because it actually helps brighten the eyes and help conceal dark circles around the eye area. The coverage is not as heavy as concealers but it helps a lot when you put this under a concealer. I guess the yellow shade is for warm, light skin while the beige one is for cooler skin undertone.

And oh, the Eye Prime Boomer has a lovely matte finish.

Above pic is a photo of swatches of one of my eyeshadows. The right one is with the primer while the other is just the plain eyeshadow.

As you can see, the Eye Prime Boomer really enhanced the color of the eyeshadow. The pigments really adhered to the primer. It also made the application smoother. Everything seems to be great except after wearing it after a couple of hours. I have oily lids and my eyeshadow (I used my UD ones) just creased like crazy. Like I didn't wear any primer! Two hours is just too short of a time for my eyeshadow to crease and this happened again after I tried it the second and the third time. I think this is one of the worse primers I've tried when it comes to making the eye makeup last longer. It just didn't help at all. :(

The product was a disappointment. I fell in-love with the matte finish but how it made my eye shadow crease earlier than normal is just too bad. *sigh* I don't know if it's because my lids are just too darn oily but I doubt that because this don't happen when I use UDPP or my Too Faced eyeshadow primer. :(

Have you tried eye primers that disappointed you as much? Which ones?

Review : The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye

Hey dearest!

Do you love wearing eye makeup too? Have you discovered your love for eye primers to make your makeup last longer?

Since the first time I've used one, I immediately became a fan and made eye primers a staple in my makeup routine. Having oily lids can ruin your eye makeup big time and with a good primer, your beautiful look can last the whole day! I have tried probably a dozen of eye primers already and around half of them are pretty decent. And for today's post, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the most recent primer I got...

The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye
This costs Php 895.00. The one I have was sent to me for review.

This is pretty new. It became available on September last year.

The packaging is pretty simple. It's in a tube that looks pretty much like the face primer version of Instablur. It's easy to squeeze out the product and I can get to open it by cutting it easily once I run low on this so I can fully use it.

Below are details about the product from their press release.

Below are details on the packaging:

Just by reading what it claims, I can't help but get excited about this product. It helps blur your imperfections (lines and dark circles), prolongs your eye makeup, and enhances the color of your eyeshadow. This is 3-in-one! You get the 2 important roles of an eye primer and you would not need an under eye concealer anymore! I have high expectations on this because I really liked the face primer which they released 2 months prior to this one (you can read the review here).

The consistency is gel-like. If you've tried the face primer, you'll be familiar with it. It looks thick but spreading it is easy because it is very smooth. It has a tendency to be clumped together and if you're using sponges or brushes to apply, it may fall off before you can spread it on skin so I just use my fingers. :P

It has a sheer yellow tone to it that helps give a light coverage on your eye area. This color suits my skin very well and I think it really brightens the eye area.

The pic above is when I slightly blend it. You can see how it goes through the lines of my hand. A little more blending and it can do a slight "blur" effect to lessen the visibility of the lines. This effect is more visible on finer lines of the face and on the pores too.

Below are swatches of my MUFE eyeshadow...
Left: without The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye
Right: with The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye

And above is when I smudged the eyeshadow over and over.

It held the eyeshadow rather well. It looks more enhanced with the primer and when I try to remove it, you can see that it kept the color there unlike the other one without the primer which looks almost gone.

Excuse the eyebrows, I was planning to do a strong eye makeup look there. Haha! Anyway, one eye has the Instablur Eye product applied while the other one doesn't. It gave a light coverage on my eye circles and it did very well on mattifying and "blurring" some of my fine lines around my eye bags. Very impressive, right?

Everything seemed to be going rather well... but I got disappointed with the way it handled the oiliness of my eye lids. In just 4 hours, my eye makeup began creasing and my eyeliner began transferring to the upper portion of my lids. This do not happen when I use good primers like the one I have from UD and Too Faced. I gave this another shot and I used eyeshadows that are known to last longer such as the Maybelline Color Tattoo, but unfortunately, they creased badly too.

So here's a summary of my thoughts:

What I LIKE:
- Enhances the color of eyeshadows
- Blurs fine lines
- Light coverage for under eyes
- Easy to apply
- Packaging is simple and practical
- Price is reasonable
- Locally available
- Multi-purpose
- Makes eye area so smooth

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Doesn't help prolonging makeup. My eye makeup creases after 4 hours.

Would I buy again?
I think I won't. The con is too important for me. I think I can handle it if it doesn't enhance the eyeshadow much because I can just use a very pigmented eyeshadow. I can also handle a primer without the coverage part because I can always use a concealer. BUT a primer for me should prolong makeup and unfortunately, this doesn't do that for me... I guess this would work on dry to normal skin better.

Have you tried this yet? What are your thoughts on this product? Share your comment below! :)
