Mine was a quiet Christmas eve with my family and we went out shopping the day after and had dinner. It was simple but it's still special because I spent it with loved ones.

One of the exciting things that every family would do during Christmas mornings is opening gifts under the Christmas tree. I used to wait impatiently 'til Christmas day before I open my gifts... but lately I just open them when I receive them. Ha! I'm just too excited I guess... So just imagine how much I wanted to open this box that arrived in our doorstep 2 days before Christmas day...

Review : Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 27

This is actually a late post, but I still want to share it because this product that I will review is one of the few BB creams that I LOVE! 

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream

I bought this at Cinderella, Glorietta for PhP 799.00. I purchased this a long time ago and I'm not sure if the Missha stall is still there. :P

The shade is have is No. 27, Honey Beige. This is not my exact shade. It's a tone darker, but during the time I took the photos, my skin was also darker or of the same shade as this BB Cream. So all was good!

Before I proceed with the review, here's what was written on the label of the product's packaging:

How to Use:

After your basic skin care routine, use a primer for an even base

Pump out an appropriate amount of BB Cream (1 pump is usually more than sufficient)

Dab product on cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose areas and use the tips of your fingers to lightly smooth product over face OR

Lightly dab product with a sponge and smooth evenly over face

Build coverage using leftover product by lightly tapping over any problem areas

Set with powder for a matte finish if desired

The one I bought is the 20ml tube. Missha also has this in a 50ml tube with a pump dispenser. The smaller size is just a simple tube with a small nozzle. You can easily control the amount of product you dispense (it also helps that the product has a thick, creamy consistency). Design-wise, it looks classy with it's metallic red color, with a twist cap that's silver. The fonts used show a serious tone which shows a different vibe compared to most cutesy designs that I usually see in Korean makeup.

Missha claims that the Perfect Cover BB can provide sun protection, add coverage, and is anti-aging (although I consider this more as moisturizing), lightweight, and gives a natural-looking finish. Those claims are music to my ears because those are exactly the things I look for in my base makeup! Let's see if these are true. ;)

Here's the product. As mentioned above, the consistency is quite thick and creamy... 

But when spread out, you'll feel that it really is lightweight, but also gives quite an impressive coverage.

It gives a semi-matte finish. See the before and after photos of my face below for a better comparison:

The yellow undertone of the shade Honey Beige gave me a more warmer tone which I actually like because it is closer to my neck and shoulders' skin shade. My face is redder as it is often exposed to the sun.

As seen on the photos, it does give that matte finish but still not flat (that's why I call it semi-matte). It actually looks natural! The coverage is really good as it took care of the redness and also the pimple scars I have. It's buildable too! Just dab it on the darker scars and it's like an instant concealer. It didn't do much on the pore reducing part if you're wondering about that... but this product doesn't claim anything to help in that department so this is not an issue.

As suggested in the product description, I apply a setting powder on top. By adding so helped with minimizing pores and the combo of BB Cream + powder made sure that my makeup lasted for the whole day. Even if I don't blot my oily skin, my base makeup is still there (but shiny with all the oil).

I like that this product simplifies my morning rituals as it is like a moisturizer + sunscreen + foundation in one. I do still use an oil free moisturizer underneath, but if I'm in a hurry, the hydration that this product provides is enough. I brought this with me when I travelled to Australia and it was just so handy!

What I LIKE:

- Really good coverage (buildable)

- Has SPF 42, PA+++

- Long-lasting

- Lightweight

- Easy to blend on skin

- The shade Honey Beige is warm tone

- Gives adequate moisture to skin

- Natural-looking finish

- Packaging

- Locally available

What I DON'T LIKE:

- This is not really a big issue, but I find Missha PH's price a bit more expensive than I expect (if I compare it to the prices in the Korea and some other Asian countries and even in the US).

- No oil control (As I've mentioned, the product never claimed to control sebum production so it's still not an issue... I just prefer products with oil control)

So yeah... All the claims that it promises are all true. No wonder it's one of Missha's best selling products. As I've said, I love this BB Cream and I recommend this if you're looking for a BB to try.

Last summer, we had a family vacation in Jeju. One of the products I bought there was this BB Cake that I will be reviewing...

Since the box's labels are in Korean, I went to the US website of the brand for the product info:

In the website, no. 23 is the darkest and the warmest of the three available shades. This was actually the shade recommended to me by the SA. I was actually just admiring the packaging but the SA was very aggressive to make a sale that day. Haha! She kept insisting that I will like this product. She made me try it and I actually did! Haha! Even with the language barrier, that SA is really good! Her convincing power is pretty impressive. But of course, it helps if the product is also good. ;)

Check out how pretty the compact is. It reminds me of the compact thingy that Sailor Warriors from the anime Sailormoon use. Haha!

The compact's size is pretty much like the usual BB cushions. A little bulky but that's not much of an issue.
It also has a built-in mirror.

It also includes a very soft applicator and the compact has a separator betweent the puff and the product itself for hygienic purposes.

Here's a closeup of the product.

It's in a thick cream form... like a cream foundation. It's called a BB Cake and I think when I bought this was the first time I heard of a BB Cake. This is also the first time I used a BB cream that is not in liquid form. I got really curious about it which contributed to the reason why I bought it.

It also doesn't hurt that it has high sun protection qualities. It has SPF40 and PA++. It also promises oil control, great coverage, anti-wrinkle, long-lasting, and brightening properties. Everything sounds too good to be true!

This is a swatch on my arm.

The shade is pretty warm which I really like for my BBs and foundations because I have a warm complexion.

When I spread it, it gives a semi-matte finish!

The coverage is just amazing! It's buildable too. I don't even have to use much concealer! Very impressive for a BB! It easily made my skin even and hid the redness and majority of my pimple scars.

After putting the rest of the makeup, including a translucent powder.

My skin looked flawless! It's amazing how my skin looks so bright. So yeah, it really did good in the coverage and the brightening department.

To test the lasting power and coverage, I went a whole office day without retouching nor even blotting the oil off and my makeup looked like the photo above.

Coverage was still there so yay for the long-lasting part! My face got oily but hey, that's after 10 hours! The fact that my makeup was still there without blotting is amazing. And this is actually pretty good because I usually get this shiny within 4 hours.

My face gets that instant "blooming" effect because this product gives that brighter, smoother, and even poreless finish!

I think it's pretty obvious that I have nothing but love for this product. Haha! So let me summarize the review.

What I LIKE:

- Medium-heavy coverage, buildable

- Has SPF40 and PA++

- Long-lasting

- Has oil control

- Semi-matte finish

- Brightening

- No caking

- The shade is pretty close to my skin tone

- Packaging

- Has an applicator that's soft

- Locally available

- Sort of affordable (when bought in Jeju. Not sure how much it is here in the PH)

What I DO NOT LIKE:

- Only comes in three shades

Would I repurchase? Well, I still have a refill here with me. But I probably will because I love it so much! It's just a bummer that it has only 3 shades and the darkest is already the one I have so I don't know if it will suit those who have darker complexion than mine. It works perfectly fine on my oily skin and I think it's great for normal-oily skin. Not sure about those with dry skin though.

This is a pretty good product from Missha. I think this would be an easy favorite of mine from the brand. :)

Jeju Trip (2015) + Haul

A month and a half ago, I went on a 4-day-3-night vacation at Jeju, South Korea with my mom and brother. I don't get out of the country much (I've only been to the US prior to this trip), but I think that I will be doing more traveling from now on. I just love discovering new places and learning about different culture, especially their art and FOOD! I have to be more uptight with my spending in order to do this. :P

Our decision to go to Jeju was a little bit spontaneous. We were planning to go to Japan but when we contacted a travel service agency, we learned that my mom's passport was about to expire in 6 months which will be a problem when it comes to applying for a Japan travel visa. So they recommended Jeju, which is a visa-free place that we can visit. None of us have been to Jeju and we thought that it would be a nice place to go to since we've been seeing some pictures of friends who have already went for a vacation and enjoyed. And so, we decided to go to Jeju island instead. The travel agency group made our 4-day vacation easier since they are in charge of booking the plane and lodging. The whole package also included the tour (we were in a tour group), transportation, and the food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). We think that availing their service is more favorable, not to mention hassle-free, since we don't know much about Jeju and we can't speak Korean. :P

The timing of our trip was perfect. We arrived there during the time when the cherry blossoms were blooming! It was our first time seeing an actual cherry blossom tree and we were very excited about that. They just look so beautiful and yet so fragile. They bloom so beautifully yet wilt so soon. 

Anyway, I want to share with you the pictures of the beautiful places we were able to visit in chronological order as well as the items I was able to take home (and will blog some time when I get the time... haha!)! Yay! 

We were picked up by our tour guide and the proceeded to Self Bar, a barbecue buffet restaurant for our lunch. It was the first time I tried authentic Korean barbecue, and it was glorious. I became an instant fan!

We visited Hallim park, a botanical garden that's divided into sections showcasing different kinds of plant life.

The park has a few caves that you can enter.

I really enjoyed the Jeju Stone and Bonsai garden the most!

For dinner, we had Chicken Ginseng Soup, a popular dish there. Ginseng is known for many health benefits so I understand why people like them. Unfortunately, my mom and brother weren't into it. I like it though. :P

On our second day, we stopped over this street to take pictures of these beautiful cherry blossom trees.

My mom really enjoyed the trip so far because she just loves flowers. I think this part was where she enjoyed the most.

The rest of the day was rainy which was a let down, but that didn't stop us from continuing the tour. We visited the Seongeup Folk Village next.

We bought some fresh oranges or tangerines from some ahjummas while we were taking a break because we didn't have any umbrellas. They gave us a free raincoat after that. They were so sweet! :D

We also visited the orange farm! We weren't able to try the oranges here but we were able to buy some really big ones during the third day of our tour and they were very sweet! 

This is what we had for lunch. I can't remember what this was exactly, nor the name of the restaurant (I'm sorry). I think this is an Osam Bulgogi, please correct me if I am incorrect. (The picture was taken while the meats were still raw)

Next, we went to Aqua Planet, one of the largest aquariums in asia.

It really was big and full different kinds of marine life.

I enjoyed seeing the seals and the dolphins the most.

And I love these two little creatures here who were so photogenic! Haha!

We also visited the Seongsan Ilchubong also called the Sunrise Peak.

My brother and I wanted to reach the top to see what it looked like up there.

I stopped halfway because I was getting tired and we only had 20 minutes left before we go to our next destination. My brother went on though.

But according to my brother, the top was too foggy to see anything so the effort wasn't rewarding. :(

We had a quick stop at the Canola Blossom field where my mom also enjoyed the yellow flowers. Yellow's her favorite color! :D

On our third day, we get to do some shopping! WOOOT!

But of course, we took more pics of the pretty cherry blossoms while we were still there. :P

Had authentic Beef Bulgogi for lunch after (my pics are uncooked though). This was the tastiest Beef Bulgogi I have ever tried!

Our next stop was the Teddy Museum Bear Museum. The place was really big and I liked the clothes of some of the bears on display. I'm not so into this though because I'm just not into teddies (sorry). :P

I do like these displays where teddy bears replaced some famous art subjects!

Our next stop was the Hello Kitty Island Museum and Cafe. I made sure I took many photos of this place because my friend is a fan of Hello Kitty. Everything was so cute!!!

Even the food we ordered were so adorable. I didn't want to eat it because I didn't want to ruin the presentation! Haha!

The other places we went to were shopping places and I didn't take pictures because I was too busy... errrmmmm... shopping. Haha! We also watched the show "Painters Hero" which was super entertaining! I love that they mixed the art of painting and comedy together. We also passed by the Mysterious Road wherein our bus' engine is off and at neutral but we kept moving. Mysterious, right?
