Review : The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye

Hey dearest!

Do you love wearing eye makeup too? Have you discovered your love for eye primers to make your makeup last longer?

Since the first time I've used one, I immediately became a fan and made eye primers a staple in my makeup routine. Having oily lids can ruin your eye makeup big time and with a good primer, your beautiful look can last the whole day! I have tried probably a dozen of eye primers already and around half of them are pretty decent. And for today's post, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the most recent primer I got...

The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye
This costs Php 895.00. The one I have was sent to me for review.

This is pretty new. It became available on September last year.

The packaging is pretty simple. It's in a tube that looks pretty much like the face primer version of Instablur. It's easy to squeeze out the product and I can get to open it by cutting it easily once I run low on this so I can fully use it.

Below are details about the product from their press release.

Below are details on the packaging:

Just by reading what it claims, I can't help but get excited about this product. It helps blur your imperfections (lines and dark circles), prolongs your eye makeup, and enhances the color of your eyeshadow. This is 3-in-one! You get the 2 important roles of an eye primer and you would not need an under eye concealer anymore! I have high expectations on this because I really liked the face primer which they released 2 months prior to this one (you can read the review here).

The consistency is gel-like. If you've tried the face primer, you'll be familiar with it. It looks thick but spreading it is easy because it is very smooth. It has a tendency to be clumped together and if you're using sponges or brushes to apply, it may fall off before you can spread it on skin so I just use my fingers. :P

It has a sheer yellow tone to it that helps give a light coverage on your eye area. This color suits my skin very well and I think it really brightens the eye area.

The pic above is when I slightly blend it. You can see how it goes through the lines of my hand. A little more blending and it can do a slight "blur" effect to lessen the visibility of the lines. This effect is more visible on finer lines of the face and on the pores too.

Below are swatches of my MUFE eyeshadow...
Left: without The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye
Right: with The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye

And above is when I smudged the eyeshadow over and over.

It held the eyeshadow rather well. It looks more enhanced with the primer and when I try to remove it, you can see that it kept the color there unlike the other one without the primer which looks almost gone.

Excuse the eyebrows, I was planning to do a strong eye makeup look there. Haha! Anyway, one eye has the Instablur Eye product applied while the other one doesn't. It gave a light coverage on my eye circles and it did very well on mattifying and "blurring" some of my fine lines around my eye bags. Very impressive, right?

Everything seemed to be going rather well... but I got disappointed with the way it handled the oiliness of my eye lids. In just 4 hours, my eye makeup began creasing and my eyeliner began transferring to the upper portion of my lids. This do not happen when I use good primers like the one I have from UD and Too Faced. I gave this another shot and I used eyeshadows that are known to last longer such as the Maybelline Color Tattoo, but unfortunately, they creased badly too.

So here's a summary of my thoughts:

What I LIKE:
- Enhances the color of eyeshadows
- Blurs fine lines
- Light coverage for under eyes
- Easy to apply
- Packaging is simple and practical
- Price is reasonable
- Locally available
- Multi-purpose
- Makes eye area so smooth

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Doesn't help prolonging makeup. My eye makeup creases after 4 hours.

Would I buy again?
I think I won't. The con is too important for me. I think I can handle it if it doesn't enhance the eyeshadow much because I can just use a very pigmented eyeshadow. I can also handle a primer without the coverage part because I can always use a concealer. BUT a primer for me should prolong makeup and unfortunately, this doesn't do that for me... I guess this would work on dry to normal skin better.

Have you tried this yet? What are your thoughts on this product? Share your comment below! :)

Review : The Body Shop All-In-One InstaBlur

Hi loves!

I think I found another great primer, especially for those with enlarged pores and oily skin like I do. And it is the...

The Body Shop All-In-One InstaBlur
This 25ml tube is worth Php 1,195.00.

This was given to me by The Body Shop almost a month ago and I've used this for almost every time I put on makeup (which is like 6 times a week). It instantly became a favorite of mine. You'll know why as you read further. :D

But first, let's check out some info about the product from the packaging and from the press release.

You can check out my initial thoughts when I first tried the product out during the launch event here.

I use this as a makeup base, though you can use this alone if you like your skin looking shine-free. Everything that it promises are the things I look for in a primer or makeup base. So I was really hoping that it would deliver because if it does, it's a wish come true!

Here's the product. It's translucent and has a thick, gel-like consistency. It's not at all slimy but it's very smooth once spread out.

Here's how it looks like when slightly spread out. It becomes invisible so this product really is a universal shade item.

And after spreading it evenly, it becomes matte and some of the product even sank on the lines of my hand making it look smoother. When I first swatched this back in the event, I was really impressed on how smooth it was and how it instantly covered the lines on my hands.

And now, for the ultimate test, how it works on my cheeks where I have enlarged pores.

 Bare face

 With the product

As you can see, my face is all matte now. The pores are minimized. My face looks like it was blurred! The bigger pores aren't fully-covered though but that's where my foundation comes in. You'll see how it works as a base on the next photo below.

 With foundation and powder

My skin looks like it's photoshopped! Wow! If you look closely, you'd still see that I have some blemishes somewhere but it's all covered up (I used the HD Collagen Foundation from Nature Republic) and the pores are barely noticeable too! It really did instantly blurred my skin.

And what made me really happy is that it really prolonged the wearing time of my makeup. It can last the whole day primarily because it really control the excess oil. My face is really oily so it only takes a couple of hours before my face gets sticky and shiny. But with this product, it takes around 5 hours before that happens. And when I'm in the mall where it's colder and there's less dirt and pollution, my face looks shine-free for 6-8 hours. I remember I went to the Robinsons Red Hot Sale Event and my face was still looking good until 5pm (I applied my makeup around 7am because I had school in the morning). I only retouched once around 3pm.

 What I LIKE:

- Compatible with any skin shade
- Covers pores
- Hides minor blemishes
- Prolongs makeup
- Controls Oil
- Super smooth
- Locally available
- Packaging (easy to squeeze out the product)
- Instantly mattifies skin
- Gives some skin benefits (Vit E and Marula Oil)
- Didn't experience any caking with this on
- No breakouts or irritations

 What I DON'T LIKE:

- NONE!

 Would I repurchase?
DEFINITELY! I am loving this product! I recommend this one to anyone actually, especially for those with oily skin! But if you use this outside during daytime, make sure you wear sunscreen since this doesn't have any SPF. :)

So what do you think of The Body Shop All-In-One InstaBlur? Do you like products like this too?

No Retouch with The Body Shop's All-In-One Instablur

Hey everyone!

Yesterday, we went to SM Mall of Asia to attend an event by The Body Shop, Philippines.
This event is about their new campaign: The No Retouch Movement.

So what is it all about?
Nowadays, all our pictures are retouched by photoshop, filters, or applications like Camera360. We want to look as flawless as possible.

So The Body Shop wants us to skip those filters and go natural. Upload those pictures as soon as you snap that selfie! Get that photo-perfect skin using their newest product—The All-In-One Instablur.

As soon as we arrived at the venue, you'll see how much this new product is highlighted around the store. I was really excited to try this out because a couple of my insecurities are my blemishes and enlarged pores. I was ready to go to the makeup station and get me a makeover with the product.

But before anything else, the foodie in Liz and I were drawn to this station. Haha!

The macarons were calling my name. Haha! My favorite was, of course, vanilla. :D

So back to The Body Shop's All-In-One Instablur. The event started with a short introduction about this new product. We can sum it up using these info from the press release:

The five actions the product gives are like music to my ears. They're like all the things I look for in a primer! :D

To demonstrate how effective it is, they did a makeover and got our pretty fellow blogger, Helen, as their model.

After cleansing and toning, they used the All-In-One Instablur as primer. It is best to apply it on the forehead, cheeks, chin, nose, and areas with blemishes.

After that, they applied the rest of the makeup!

Here's Helen, all-dolled-up! She looks so radiant and fresh!

And after that, they gave us tips to get a perfect selfie!

And we also get our very own makeovers! Yippee!

Here's a before and after pic of me. (Sorry I wasn't able to bring a camera. I only used my phone for pictures during the event)

There was no need to use concealer even if I have blemishes that needed covering. The Instablur as a primer really made the powder foundation stick to my skin and covered those annoying dark spots!

Even Liz's skin looked poreless!

The Peachy Pink Sisters selfie! No filter! :P

We were able to take home the product so pretty soon, I can post a review about it with better pictures. Hopefully I can show you how the product works on my skin. :D

If you're interested to avail the product, it's for Php 1,195.00.

It's available in promos such as this where you buy the Instablur and All-In-One BB Cream and get other TBS products for free! Do check out your nearest The Body Shop stores for more info. :D

So are you ready to join the No Retouch Movement?

The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Colour Shade in Guava

Hey loves!

Love the color pink? How about hot pink?
If you do, then I'm sure you'll like this blush from The Body Shop!

The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Colour Shade
Php 695.00

But I got this as a gift from the brand.

The shade is 06 Guava.
One blush is 4g and has a lifespan of 2 years.

Here are some product details from their website:

This extra-fine powder blusher gives smooth, buildable colour and has great staying power. With ingredients including vitamin E and marula oil, it’s make-up and skincare in one.

Superfine
Blends easily
Lasting colour

How to use:
Apply with a blusher brush to dust the apples of your cheeks and contour cheekbones.

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Nylon-12, Zea Mays Starch/Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Barium Sulfate, Silica, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Lauryl Methacrylate/Glycol Dimethacrylate Crosspolymer, Magnesium Myristate, Squalane, Soybean Glycerides, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Pentylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii Unsaponifiables/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Unsaponifiables, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Benzyl PCA, Lauroyl Lysine, Tocopherol, Tin Oxide. [+/- CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 77491/Iron Oxides, CI 15850/Red 7 Lake, CI 77007/Ultramarines, CI 77492/Iron Oxides, CI 77499/Iron Oxides, CI 19140/Yellow 5 Lake, CI 77742/Manganese Violet].

The All-In-One Cheek Colour is available in 6 shades in-stores (in the PH) but in the US website, it has 10 shades.

Here's a closeup of the product.

It looks like it's so intense because of the hot pink color which sort of worried me since I am not a fan of strong blushes. I like my blushes subtle because I usually wear bold lips or strong eye makeup. Good thing it's easy to control the color of the blush so you can go from a mild pink blush to a very pink flush.

Swatch on arm

As you can see on the swatch, it gives a good color payoff. It's not powdery, it's so smooth, and it has subtle shimmers too. It's very wearable!

Here's me wearing the blush.

I think this shade would look lovely in almost any skin tone. It made my cheeks look fresh and rosy for the whole day! Besides the color, it promises some skin benefits such as Vitamin E and Marula. Oil.

So what do you think of The Body Shop All-In-One Cheek Colour Shade in Guava? Have you tried the other shades of this blush from TBS? Which one?
