Ever Bilena: Matic Brow Liner in Earth

Good evening ladies,

Last Wednesday, Dawn attended the Ever Bilena event at Whitespace Manila and she has gave me a choice to take one of the products given to her for me to try out and review.

Of course, since I've really sparse eyebrow hair, I went with the Matic Brow Liner in Earth.

So this is a retractable brow liner (as the name suggests) and comes in two colors, Earth and Midnight.

Below are the ingredients of this liner:

Cyclopentasiloxane , Paraffin, Diisostearyl Dimer Dilinoleate , PEG - 6 Beeswax, Ozokerite, Hydrogenatred Castor Oil, Ceresin, Tocopherol, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, May contain : Mica (CI 77019) , Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) Red Iron Oxide (CI 77491) , Yellow Iron Oxide (CI 77492), Black iron Oxide (CI 77499), Bismuth OXychloride (CI 77163)

The pencil is soft and creamy in consistency. You need to keep the tip short if you are heavy handed as it can break easily.

I did 3 different strokes for the swatch, the top one is somewhat of an in-between heavy and light stroke. Middle is the more heavy handed stroke (where I broke the tip of the pencil). Lastly, the bottom is the feathery stroke which is recommended for filling in your brows.

Below is the picture after smudging it a bit. As you can see, it's not smudge proof. If you have the habit of scratching your eyebrows (for any reason), you might want to bring this along with you for retouching purposes.

Ok so here is my brow without any product. As you can see, I have sparse and thin eyebrow hair, which are just barely visible if seen from afar.

Now here is my brow after filling it in with the matic brow liner.

I do have to say that I found it a little hard to balance the application. I have a hard time doing the feather strokes and I'm a little more heavy handed when doing my brows. This is one of the reasons why I prefer powders to pencils. But if I do go for pencils, I prefer less creamier ones.

So this is not really much of a favorite of mine. Though it is quite easy to use, and in my case, it being not smudge-proof worked as I was trying to balance it out.

Below are pictures after 7 hours of wear. It tends to fade out as soon as your face starts getting oily. Sorry about the stark difference in skin color, I used a different light source for the 7 hours later.

I kind of expected it to be like this that's why I used it for just that day, since I did not have to be at the office for the whole day.

This is a fairly affordable eyebrow liner however, I feel like I won't be buying it again if it ever ran out. The liner costs somewhere between 180 to 200 while my current everyday liner costs a mere 100 and performs a little bit better than this one.

So that's it for this eyebrow liner from Ever Bilena. Check out the other products from the event in Dawn's post. You can also visit their website and facebook page for more products from Ever Bilena.

Review : The Face Shop Designing Eyebrow Pencil

Hey loves!

When putting on makeup, I try to keep my brows groomed and if needed, shaped using brow makeup, so that my brows can frame my face better. I know many who believe that kilay is life when it comes to ones makeup look, so I try to equip my makeup stash with good brow products.

Lately, I've been using brow pencils because it's easier and faster to use. The one/s I'm using are...

The Face Shop Designing Eyebrow Pencil
Each brow pencil is PhP 225.00, but I was able to get it on a Buy 2, get 1 promo.

I bought the darkest shades because I have dark brow hair.

Info from the website:
Description:
A rectangular-tipped eyebrow pencil with smooth application for easier eyebrow drawing without irritation
Suitable for make up beginners

Available Colors:
01 Light Brown
02 Gray Brown
03 Brown
04 Black Brown
05 Dark Brown

It also contains the ingredients list on a sticker on the bottom cap of the pencil.

The pencil actually has two caps on each end. One has the pencil while the other houses the brow brush that helps you blend the product.

It's a twist-up product and has a triangular shape. It makes it easier to glide the pencil on your brow and will not give you a very sharp, and pointed line. We want a natural looking brow and not a dark and sharp one.

Here are the swatches. From top to bottom: Gray Brown, Brown, Dark Brown

As you can see on the swatches, the lines produced are soft and most importantly, not sharp. It creates soft lines that blend well to fill in the brows without looking harsh. What I did notice though is that it's more pigmented than the brow pencils I've used from other Korean brands.

Anyway, check out below how they work on my brows:

dark brown

Well, I really do have dark brow hair. I need a brow mascara to make them blend well. But I do think that The Face Shop Designing Eyebrow Pencils are very easy to work with, affordable, and fills in the brow with a soft finish.

It can last the whole day on my oily skin. I don't touch my face much so that helps a lot there. :P

What I LIKE:

- Affordable
- Locally available
- Soft, but pigmented lines
- Easy to use
- Comes with a brow brush
- Available in five shades
- No need to sharpen
- Long-lasting
- Slim and classy packaging

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Nothing... I do think that it can be more pigmented than what I expected, but just make sure to work it with light hands.

Would I recommend it? Yes!

And that's my review, folks! I hope this is helpful!

Shu Uemura Metal:Ink Liquid Eye Liner in ME Brown

Hello dearies!

I like shimmery eye makeup, but usually the simple, nude, shimmery kind. It gives you a brighter look with a hint of glam. That's why I was just so happy when I received this as a freebie when I ordered one Shu Uemura product from BeautyMNL:

Shu Uemura Metal:Ink Liquid Eye Liner in ME Brown

It costs PhP 1,750.00, but unfortunately, the brand just closed its doors in the Philippines a few months back. :( I guess that's the reason for the promos.

Anyway, here are pics containing the product info from the box:

And on the packaging:

And info from the website:

Vibrant metallic colors - lasting day & night.
Waterproof, easy-to-use, intense shades.
Long-lasting liquid liner meets dramatic explosion of colors. 10 metallic shades inspired by hanabi, a festival of fireworks that vividly decorate tokyo nights.

Define, decorate and empower your eyes.

I love the classy-looking packaging. I also like that it has that strip of the shade it's in.

The applicator is easy to use and it creates a fine, solid line.

The shade is a warm, brown color with glitters that are a mix of gold, silver, and purple/pink. It's so beautiful!  See the swatch below:

I got this rich color with one swipe.

I tested its durability...

When I rubbed it with my hand, it barely smudged. It did lose some of its vibrance, but it's still looking gorgeous.

But when I rub it while wet, it was removed.

When under running water, nothing happened. So I guess it still keeps its waterproof claim... well, more like water resistant... I don't think anyone would rub their eyes the way I rubbed my hand anyway.

I wear the eyeliner like this...

I love putting thick lines so that the glitters are visible. I like wearing it for everyday. The brown color is less dramatic as when I wear a black one and the glitters give a fun and light vibe to my overall look. I really like it. I do wish I could get my hands on the other shades. :)

What do you think of the Shu Uemura Metal:Ink Liquid Eye Liner in ME Brown?

Review : Maybelline EyeStudio Crayon Brow in Brown

Hey dearies!

I was doing groceries some weeks ago and saw that some Maybelline products were on display in one of the isles. The most affordable from the bunch was this brow pencil...

Maybelline EyeStudio Crayon Brow in Brown

I was able to get it for PhP 99.00. I don't know if that was a discounted price or the regular price but I thought that it was so cheap and that it wouldn't hurt my wallet if I decide to get one to try out. If I like it, then that would be great since I would have a cheaper alternative compared to the recent brow products I use.

So obviously, I bought one. Only one shade was available at the Save More branch I was in—brown. My hair is colored (I think this is like a coffee bean brown...?) so I thought that was good. And if I base it on the color of the brows of the model on the packaging, I think it's pretty close to my hair color.

Info from the website:

EYESTUDIO CRAYON BROWLINER

Defines brows naturally.
Easy to use eyebrow pencil that creates natural looking brows instantly.

Creates natural looking brows instantly!
• Delivers precise application for evenly defined brows
• All day wear
• Comes with natural shades to match brow colors
• Easy to sharpen with sharpener
• Safe for sensitive eyes and ophthalmologist-tested
• Contact lens safe

What I like about brow pencils is that I don't need those angled brow brushes anymore that I need if I use powdered or gel brow products. I only need a sharpener every once in a while.

It's easy to carry around too and design-wise, I think it's a mix of girly and classy!

Given the right sharpener, the product won't break easily. It doesn't get too soft during the hot weathers so you won't get to experience the product breaking/sliding off from the pencil during application.

Everything seems good until I swatched it...

As you can see in the photo above, the swatch of the product is a pale brown shade. Don't get me wrong, this would be great for those who have fine brow hair strands... but for me who has thick ones, it will look odd. It's nowhere near the shade on the packaging too so I am quite disappointed.

Check out how it works on my brows below.

Bare brows

With the EyeStudio Crayon Brow in Brown

The product made my brow hair so waxy and the brown shade was too light for my dark hair. My brows look so unnatural. :( The product settled on the hair... I guess my hair was too thick that it caught a lot of the product. :( On the bright side, it lasts the whole day!

I think this would work better to those with fine brow hair or thin brows. If you have thick brow hair, I suggest you try other products because you might end up having the same experience...

What I LIKE:

- Affordable at P99.00 (I think this is a discounted price)
- Easy to carry
- Doesn't break easily
- Packaging
- Locally available
- Not too pigmented (good for people with heavy hands)
- Easy to use
- Long-wearing

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Comes with only two shades (Grey and Brown)
- The brown shade is too light for my dark brows
- Hair becomes waxy when the product is applied on it

Would I repurchase? No. The product just can't handle my dark brows. LOL Maybelline has other brow products I can try and maybe there's one that suits my brows better. :)

And that's my short thoughts on the Maybelline EyeStudio Crayon Brow in Brown! If you have thoughts about my review or if you have used this product and want to share your experience, please do post your comment below. :)

Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown

Hello dearies!

If you like to sport natural looking makeup but still want to add definition to your eyes, then you probably have a brown eyeliner. For me, I like a fierce black liner (with a flick/wings) on my upper lash line, but I like a soft brown liner at the lower lash line. I'm currently using this...

Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown

I got this at 50% off months ago. Got it for PhP 237.50.00 only!

I bought it mostly because it was on sale. I thought that a brown liner is never a bad purchase because it is wearable and I can use it many times for sure.

Anyway, these are the labels around the pencil:

Here's the info on the website:

America’s #1 longwear eye liner glides on effortlessly for drama and definition. No matter what your day holds, the waterproof formula will keep you covered.

There are 8 shades listed on the website too—Black, Brown, Amethyst, Black Brown, Charcoal, Jade, Topaz, and Sapphire.

I like the classy design and also the retractable packaging because I don't have to sharpen it. I like that it's also slim so I can create thin lines as well.

Here's a closeup of the whole liner.

And here are the swatches:

The line is strong, matte, and pigmented. It glides sort of okay, but I've tried liners that glides more easily. :P

Here it is when I try to smudge it.

I like that it still looks clean. It stayed well and just faded a little.

And here it is when smudged while wet.

It's there but mostly faded. I like that it didn't smudge all over. I think this is more water-resistant than waterproof... although I did smudge it while wet... :P

I do think that this is a good eyeliner. BUT if you like to smudge the liners a bit to make the look natural-looking and not too defined, then you might need time to smudge, smudge, smudge because it stays on your skin really well. It does look good on the waterline if you apply liners there. If you have oily lids like me, I wouldn't recommend using this on your upper lash line because it will still smudge and transfer all over the lids after two hours. Darn these oily lids!!!

So that's my short thoughts on this liner. Hope this was helpful! ;)
