Review: Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion and Vitamin C Serum Soothing Gel

Quite recently I discovered the local skincare brand, Hello Glow. I'm happy to know that more and more local brands are popping up even during the pandemic and that they are launching more products (which are made in South Korea, btw) to help our skin look good and healthy.

A couple of weeks ago, I received two of their products—the Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion and Vitamin C Serum Soothing Gel. I've been using them for a while and here's my review of them.

First, the Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion (Php 150.00).

When I received this item, I was so excited about it as it has some of my favorite skincare ingredients, niacinamide and lactic acid! Niacinamide helps your skin stay firm and retain moisture while lactic acid is anti-aging and lightens dark spots. Other key ingredients are Vitamin A, which helps in skin healing and keeping it healthy, and Vitamin E which helps soothe skin and help keep it hydrated too.

Review: Hello Glow Sunflower Collection

Don't you just get excited when you see a skincare set that works and fits the budget? Well that was what I felt when I was able to try Hello Glow's Sunflower Collection.

But before I share my review, I have to say that before I tried the collection, I honestly was not aware of the brand Hello Glow. It has been a long while since I just browsed the beauty sections of malls (since the pandemic started I think) nor have I actively looked at everything that's new at the beauty scene. I was actually contacted by the team behind the brand if I wanted to try and review the products to which I agreed to because I was curious about it.

Why was I curious? Well, I did a quick research about Hello Glow, a fairly new local brand (founded in 2020) and quite active in social media. It gave me a young and cool vibe. The products they have look fresh and also quite within a typical pinoy's budget! It claims to produce products that are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and SLS-free.

What's more, the collection that is being featured has sunflower as main ingredient. I've used dozens of products with sunflower and I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that sunflower oils are one of the good oils for skin if you're someone into face oils... and look what's included in the collection—a sunflower beauty oil! 

No More Dry Skin with the Healing Power of Vaseline Body Lotion

Are you dealing with dry skin? How do you usually deal with it? 

My face has oily skin so with just the right skincare, especially moisturizer, I rarely encounter skin drying on that area. For the body, unfortunately, I do encounter some dryness, mostly on my elbows, knees, and feet. I've experienced this way back when I was a kid and my mom would advise me to apply some petroleum jelly on the dry areas for intensive moisture. When the heels of my feet get cracks, I would apply petroleum jelly and wear socks overnight to keep the product on my feet and not transfer on the bed sheets when I sleep. The next day, the cracks lessened! 

So yeah, I have been a witness to the moisturizing properties of petroleum jelly so when I saw the package that arrived in our mail yesterday, I smiled. Why? Well, it is a kit containing Vaseline's Petroleum Jelly and Lotions. It's always good to receive things that you will surely use, right?

Not only that, it contained this very interesting experiment using the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly! This experiment highlights the healing power of the petroleum jelly. It's actually very fascinating... Check out the video below to learn more:

As seen in the video, they coated leaves with the petroleum jelly and left them outside during the hottest days of our country. It's actually quite amazing how the leaves with the product retain its color and moisture for so long! I didn't see the actual billboard which was along C5 last April 8-10 since I don't usually pass by that area...

BUT I get to have a closer look of this experiment because along with the kit were leaves with and without petroleum jelly! 

THESE ARE REAL LEAVES, GUYS!!!

The leaves may appear darker but it's probably because it was inside the box for so long and without sunlight, but moisture-wise, I'm amazed. I'll be checking these leaves for the next few days to see how long the ones with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly would stay green.

Not only does it retain and provide moisture, it also protects and help heal minor cuts and burns! It really is a wonder product. 

I actually got goosebumps when I read the part on the video where it stated, "If Vaseline can keep a leaf vibrant, imagine what it could do to dry skin."

And the good news doesn't stop there! See those lotions beside the petroleum jelly? What if I told you that they too have petroleum jelly infused in them??

Good thing I now have Vaseline Lotions to try. I'll use them both and see which variant I like better, although I'm leaning to the Intensive Care one since I'm not much into getting my skin lighter. And I like the scent of it more too. ;)

I've actually used both (Intensive Care last night and the Healthy White this morning) and in case you are wondering, both of them are quite lightweight on skin! None of the thick layer that some might dislike when applying petroleum jelly. It sets and gets absorbed by the skin pretty quickly. My skin feels refreshed just a few seconds after applying. I'll continue using the Intensive Care variant from now on and will update this post about my thoughts after finishing the bottle, ayt?

The Body Shop Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Cream

Right at this moment, I'm thinking of every deadlines I have to meet in a few weeks time. I guess some of my worries are also my fault because of procrastinating (I didn't do much during the holy week vacation). The summer heat is making my mood even worse. The only thing that is making me happy right now is the scent of the The Body Shop Japanese Camellia Cream that I just applied. 

I actually got this a few months back and I really loved how it smells. I'm almost done with the whole tub and I think I'll feel sad once it's gone. :P

The Spa of the World range is composed of different kinds of products from scrubs to creams and the Japanese Camellia cream is just one of the skincare products included.

I have a soft spot for Japanese stuff (not the Daiso stuff, but I like shopping there. Haha!). I love reading about their culture and art (from their classic woodblock prints to the recent anime phenomenon). I like how disciplined and polite the people there are as told by friends who've been there. And I also love how quirky and weird their commercials are, which I usually watch when I need some quick laugh. So the Japanese Camellia Cream was the one that stood up to me the most when I saw the four products from the Spa of the World range. Check out Liz's post for product details of the other products from the range.

The products are housed in this very luxe packaging. It's very different from the tubs I'm used to seeing when it comes to TBS' body butters. This packaging looks very classy and I will surely recycle this once I've finished the whole tub.

The scent of the product is floral and it can really change any bad mood into a good one. It's invigorating but at the same time soothing. The cream is thick but I don't feel sticky when I apply it. The hydration it gives is enough for my skin when used daily. You can instantly feel the skin softer when applied and the scent lasts a while on me, which I love because I just love the smell so much. This really is an instant pamper and uplifter! 

I recommend you check out the Spa of The World Skin care range from The Body Shop, especially the Japanese Camellia Cream. I am sure you won't regret it!

Review : Kala Milk Lotion

Only a few hours left before 2015 ends. I bet you're all enjoying a festive dinner right now or having fun with family and friends. I, on the other hand, am enjoying a peaceful movie night with my dogs. New year's eve is a stressful evening to them so I try to do my best to calm them down and that is to give them exercise during the day and early evening to wear them down, give them a heavy dinner, and try to keep them in a room where the noise from the fireworks aren't as loud. 

But before I resume and play another movie, I'll be sharing a review of a newly discovered skincare product...

Kala Milk Lotion

This is one of the newest products from Kala Milk. I've introduced the brand before (you can read the post here) and also featured the lotion in our post about their holiday soaps (click here for the post).

I received this lotion just last month for review. I have tried their soaps and I became a fan because of their super creamy and moisturizing properties. That being said, I was so excited to try the lotion out. I expected a very creamy and moisturizing experience with it. And I just love milk so that too adds to the excitement.

So let's get to know the product first from the labels:

The bottle is a very simple plastic bottle with a large opening, which is ideal if you see the consistency of the product. I find the label design cute, but the bottle to be very basic (I've seen so many brands who use this same bottle shape and size), which is still a good thing for me. 

The scent of the lotion is not just milky, it has like an herby smell too. I don't know the exact smell but it's not overpowering and is barely noticeable after a few minutes have passed.

And as expected, the lotion is really creamy, LIKE REALLY CREAMY. The consistency is very, very, VERY THICK. Even if you shake the bottle, it will not easily come out. It's a good thing that the opening is large, as mentioned, so that you can just scoop the product with a spatula if it becomes difficult to get some out. What I do is I leave it upside down so that the product is already at the mouth of the bottle, which will make things easier.

Even though the product is thick and creamy, it is not greasy nor super sticky and it doesn't feel that your skin can't breathe. I don't like it when lotions, especially when they are as thick as this one like body butters, feel like it's suffocating my skin... so I am happy that this does not do that. In short, it feels light on skin in just a couple of minutes after application. I believe that this is because the product gets absorbed by the skin easily. It's also pretty easy to spread on skin. I don't have to keep massaging until I don't see the white lotion on me, which is surprising considering how thick it is.

It's mostly organic if not all. My skin didn't experience any irritations. And it does a great job in providing my skin the moisture it needs. Even my friends complimented how soft my skin was. I partner this with the Milk Chocolate variant (one of the holiday blends of Kala Milk) and the result is fantastic! If you do have dry skin, I can't say if the moisture it gives is good enough. But for me who has oily skin on the face and do not experience much dryness in the body, this is good enough.

So to summarize...

What I LIKE:

- Moisturizes my skin

- Smells good

- No irritations

- No greasy nor sticky feeling

- Gets absorbed by the skin easily

- Affordable

- Filipino made

- Package design

What I DON'T LIKE:

- The product is so thick that it can be a challenge to get the product out of the bottle

Jergens: Hydrating Coconut Lotion Launch

A good day to you ladies,

Last week, Jergens launched it's newest addition to it's classic line-up of body lotions and even included great tips to achieving that beautiful glowing skin.

It has been awfully hot the past few months, and even though it's the "ber" months, I think everyone will agree that there is less 'burr' in the air than there is 'ang init'. Of course, weather has a big impact on our health. Aside from the usual increase in number of heat strokes, flu cases and what not, the first and most obvious part of our body affected by the weather is our skin. So taking care of our body and skin is a must for every one, and this was the precise topic up discussed during the event.

Jergens had invited Ms. Mara Aquino and Ms. Erica Padilla to talk about their line of work, how they gain confidence in their work, and how they take care of their body and skin. I shall summarize the points which they have given.

On their work

Both of the lovely ladies are court side reporters. Ms. Aquino had previously lived in Canada and was offered the job soon after she had just relocated to the Philippines. Ms. Padilla on the other hand, is an actress and had also landed the job sometime in between.

On confidence on the job.

Ms. Aquino advises, knowing what you are doing. Put effort into researching and knowing what your trade is. If you know your stuff you'll gain that confidence.

Ms. Padilla then talks about how to gain confidence when they're suddenly put on the spot, which in their line of work happens more often than not. She says that she draws a lot from her experiences in acting: always keep your cool, be creative, and always say it with a smile. Smiling and saying things with conviction will get you through.

Both of them also agree that taking care of your body and health also adds to your confidence. When your body is good and you feel healthy and fresh, it gives a positive vibe. This then translates into your attitude while on the job, it keeps stress levels low and energy high, and when you're like this, you will always feel invincible and eventually translating to confidence.

Lastly, on taking care of the body

Keeping that glowing radiance, is not easy. These two lovely ladies, take care of their body in different ways; Ms. Aquino's exercise is martial arts and Ms. Padilla's is yoga. I know most of us will say, but it's too much work and too time consuming, to which Ms. Padilla answers, you have to make time. With their busy schedules, they always allot time for work outs. The trick is, to motivate yourself and know why you want to do it. The next would be to not be intimidated by the difficulty level, start slow and start at your own pace. In this way, you'll know your own body's limitations and strengths.

Second, eat right and hydrate. Most individuals take for granted the wonders of a right balanced diet and just goes for exercise but these two go hand in hand. A complete healthy regimen is not purely 3x/week at the gym, or running, or yoga. Eating right should come with it. Another beauty secret that's taken for granted is drinking tons of water. A good hydrated body keeps the circulation working like a well oiled machine and keeps high blood at bay, especially in hot weather.

Third, if you want your skin to stay young and supple, then feed it as well. Of course, hygiene is and will always be the first order of the day, so remember to be thorough in removing all the products that you've put on at the end of the day (i.e. make-up). Go really bare with your skin, then start nourishing it with products you trust, and know that each area of your skin is different and you need to tailor what you apply accordingly. The best time to put them on is immediately after showering, when your pores are clean and open and the moisture is just resting on top of your skin. Applying lotions, like Jergens, will help lock that moisture in the skin and protect it from the drying elements of both hot and cold weather.

Lastly, these are only tips to help you protect your skin before damage sets in, but when there already is a problem, they advise still seeing your dermatologist. Of course, no amount of application of products will help if the problem is pathologic and should be seen by an expert.

As culmination of all these advice, Jergens set-up a hydration station, filled with juices that are infused with flavors of the ingredients they use for their signature lotions.

The event was then opened to the public as well for them to try.

Aside from that, Jergens also gave a workshop for people to discover (and rediscover) the art and beauty of calligraphy (or typography).

It was a crash course of sorts, with instructors showing you the basic strokes. They even have a guide for you to use.

Unfortunately, I am NOT the artistic side of the peachypinksisters, so many sorry to Dawn about my measly lettering.

Even the goodies they gave stress the importance of eating right,

hydration and exercise, 

(I believe the shirt is a great gym/workout shirt, hence)

 and skin nourishment.

Here is their new addition the hydrating coconut. I will be trying this out so expect a full review in the next few weeks.

Too Cool For School Skinny Body Soda

Hey darlings!

I've been in the heavy side since I was a child and I've been insecure about how flabby my body is. Losing weight is a very hard task and I'm currently in the middle of it. I've lost 17 lbs now and I still need to lose more. But wouldn't it be awesome to find a product from a beauty brand that helps you look and feel thinner?

Too Cool For School Skinny Body Soda

I was contacted by a representative of the brand if I wanted to try this product and I thought that this would be awesome since I have a lot of those flabby cellulites that need some tightening.

And so this product arrived. Look at that super quirky and cute packaging! Love it! Anyway, check out the product description below for a heads-up on what the product is all about.

It doesn't promise to make you thin just by using it. But it will help you look better as it makes the skin firmer on the areas that are uneven because of cellulite dimples like the tummy, butt, and thigh areas.

This kind of product isn't new to me. I've seen some before and even tried one (but not long enough to see any difference if there'll be any). I guess more and more products like this are appearing on the market because, well, that's our society! We love to look better and even if we sweat and work our bodies all day, there could still be some dimples in our body that isn't really a pretty sight. So wouldn't it be great if something can solve that little problem for us?

So anyway, the instruction on using this is very simple. Just shake the bottle at least 10 times and massage it on target areas.

The product, when dispensed, looks like this...

It is bubbly and it sounds like something being fried (LOL). It feels cold and gives a tingly feeling as you massaged it on your skin. It doesn't sting or hurt you at all, but it can be a little ticklish.

You can barely smell any scent... if I have to describe it, maybe it's sort of fruity... but yeah, it is barely noticeable. That works for me so it wouldn't counter with my perfume or cologne for the day.

So I use this after my bath. I massage it until the tingling sensation is gone and it gets absorbed by skin pretty quickly. It doesn't give any sticky feeling and it actually makes my skin feel smoother and a bit firmer.

And about the cellulites? I barely see any difference. I still have many... but I guess it's because I am big so maybe I just have to lose more weight if I even want to see a difference when it comes to firming lotions in general. 

And those are my thoughts about Too Cool For School's Skinny Body Soda. Have you tried any product that is similar to this? What do you think about it?

New from The Body Shop: Fijian Water Lotus Range

Hello everyone!

Found another scent from The Body Shop that I think I'll be addicted to and I know most will also surely love!

I received two products from the range. And indeed, they smell fantastic!

I tried the lotion the evening I received them and the next morning, when I was gonna wash my face, I was surprised that I can still smell the scent! I was so impressed on how long lasting it was!

I brought this at the office and all my female officemates loved it! They all found the scent really good and I think one of them plans on getting one soon! ;)

The lotion on the other hand is very much like the other lotions from The Body Shop but the scent is just addicting for me. I think I can pass my favorite Vanilla scents for now and use this. It makes me sleep better while I smell the amazing floral scent. Even if they market it for the summer, I think this is something I can enjoy at any time of the year. I really recommend you check it out in-stores!
