Review: Philosophy The Supernatural Poreless, Flawless Tinted SPF 15

The Supernatural Poreless, Flawless Tinted SPF 15

1.6 oz

$30 / PhP 1, 850 @ Beauty Bar

What it is:

An oil-free, tinted foundation primer that multitasks as a skin perfector and an SPF.

What it is formulated to do:

This oil-free, tinted foundation primer multitasks as a skin perfector and SPF while giving you the appearance of flawless skin by helping to even out skin tone and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Excellent for all skin tones, the supernatural poreless, flawless, unique, velvet-like formula can be used to help create a perfect canvas for foundation application or worn alone as the sheerest of perfection for the ultimate supernatural look.

-Apply evenly over the entire face as a foundation primer or alone.

-Apply liberally before sun exposure as needed.

-Octisalate (5.0%): Sunscreen.

-Titanium Dioxide (4.0%): Non-chemical SPF that offers physical UVA/UVB protection.

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton), Tocotrienol, Retinyl Palmitate, Simethicone, Alumina, Dimethicone, Silica, Squalane, Fragrance (Parfum), Triethoxycaprylyl Silane, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Shade/Coverage: A peachy cream that disappears on your skin! No coverage at all!

Texture: Like a glob of Dimethicone mousse, haha. If you've tried Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer or Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel, then this one is "fluffier" and lighter than both.

Best for: Normal to Oily skin. You have to have moisturized skin to pull this off.

Happy with: the fact that it covers pores very well but you don't have to put so much! It's also a hefty 1. 6 oz so I will probably not finish this up in 3 years haha.

Weird quirk: The smell. It reeks of that nasty sunblock smell, eew. Disappears soon though.

Disappointed with: the fact that I can't use it alone! I have to put moisturizer beneath it to make the primer glide properly. I tried a while ago to use it on its own, but it didn't work out. My makeup went on in patches =( But when I tried it with moisturizer, it felt and looked wonderful.

Why am I trying to cut moisturizer out of my routine, anyway? Lisa Eldridge, a really cool MUA and guru (check out her vids!), explains in her primer video that it is best not to pile on layers of skincare and makeup products because the skin gets congested and you don't get a light, breathable finish on your face. I have been having caking/creasing problems lately - a good friend tells me that base makeup is kinda like skin care, it can react to changes in the weather or even in your hormones. So I decided to just skim down my makeup steps and use one primer since I have extremely oily skin anyway. Unfortunately, Philosophy The Supernatural is not enough. =( I think I need something more miraculous than what this good stuff can offer.

Will I buy again? Yes, if I don't find a primer that serves as a pore-covering base and a moisturizer in one that won't break me out and will make foundation glide effortlessly!

Swatches:

So light and airy! I like! =)

Anyway, it's Dawn's prelims week so we won't be hearing much from her - do wish her luck! But don't fret, since I have awesome stuff to share with you soon, namely:

MAC Mineralize Blush in Hang Loose (In the Groove Collection)
NARS Cream Blush in Enchanted
Christian Dior Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Powder
Laura Mercier Primer, Mineral Pressed Powder, Illuminating Quad in Mocha Spice
Kryolan Eye Base
Guerlain Stick Gloss in Berry Pink

Oh yes, I've hauled quite a lot this August! My July birthday items are not enough, I told you. Pictures to come! =)

Cheers,
Trace

  2. Oh darn, I hate stuff that smells bad! This looks promising as a pore minimizer, though. :D

  3. Thanks Pammy! :) Excited to use them na haha!

Liz, ay this one has a chemical smell, you'd hate it :( What I like about korean/asian brands is that they make everything fresh and dainty, especially the scent :)

  4. Don't cut your moisturizer! I used to think that since I am oily, I don't need one because it just makes me oilier but then hydration is different from oil, instead, get a gel-based or at least an oil-free one. :) Oh and if you're not allergic to silicone, get a primer that contains the stuff, it'd really glide on smoothly! :)

for a primer foundation, I want to try Giorgio Armani Face Fabric! sucks we don't have it here. :(

  5. Thanks Christine! I've gone back to my Myra-E Vita White, I guess I have to consider it my HG now :) The Supernatural has Dimethicone, I agree it makes the foundation glide nicely!!! =)

Buti na lang walang Armani, or else... Wallet =(

  7. I use Skin Hour's mattifying day cream as a primer/moisturizer. It has SPF 15 and does not aggravate oily skin. And my HG tinted moisturizer is Nu Skin's TM because although it gives relatively sheer coverage, it is transfer-resistant :)
