FOTD: Pastel Love

Hey Ladies!

Been a while since I last posted an FOTD.

I know that spring is nearly coming to an end (and yes, I am aware that we don't have spring in the Philippines) but I just have to do a makeup using pastel colors since it is in-trend this season. Liz wanted to do it on her but we haven't gotten around to taking pics and all, plus she's in Canada right now and didn't bring much makeup with her... So I did the FOTD myself.

I like pastels but not on my face. I am more into the dramatic kind of makeup so I rarely wear any pastel colors.

Anyway, here's my FOTD:

FACE:

Missha M Shiny B.B Cream
Missha The Style Silky Soft Foundation in No. 2
Etude House Surprise Essence Concealer
Tony Moly Baby Doll Pot Concealer in Shade 2 Natural Beige
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake in Chino

EYES:

Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer
Etude House Drawing Eye Brow in Brown
Etude House Color My Brows in 3
Dollface Cosmetics 88 pcs Eye Shadow Palette
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Wet 'N Wild ColorIcon Eyeliner in White
Wet 'N Wild ColorIcon Eyeliner in Amethyst
T. Le Clerc Paris Eye Pencil (cant remember which shade)
In2It Liquid Eyeliner in Dark Violet
Nichido Gorgeous Eye Pencil in Pink Diamond

CHEEKS:

The Body Shop Rose Flower Blush
Etude House Face Color Corset in #3 Lavender Veil Finish

LIPS:
Chanel Rouge Coco in Magnolia

Here's a very closed-up picture of the whole look:

My face looks odd in the photo. It's just that this is the most decent one in the bunch that you can clearly see the makeup. I was in a rush to take photos since I was going out to eat dinner with the family and they were already waiting for me.

So what do you think of pastels on my face?
Should I wear more pastels?

Cheers,
DAWN

A Saturday of Eating and Shopping

My tita's friend and her daughter and her daughter's friend (phew!) came to the Philippines from Australia a few days ago. My sister stayed in their place when she was enrolling to one of the universities in Australia so now that they're here, we went out and treat them at Mall of Asia.

We got there around 4 in the afternoon. We decided to grab cakes and coffee at our favorite dessert place, Chocolat. I super love their cheesecakes and milkshakes. Also a favorite from there is their Death by Tablea.

We went shopping for a while. They were buying a lot! Around 6-8 pairs of shoes, bags of clothes and so on! While I, on the other hand, bought art materials for an oil painting I've been planning to do. :P My sis and I also went to Watsons to buy some toiletries and makeup (will be posting the stuff we bought later on this post).
For dinner, we went to Gumbo.
When we have no idea where to eat or if we aren't in the mood to experiment on trying a new restaurant, we always go for Gumbo. We really like the food there, especially their Baked Artichoke Formaggio and Strawberry and Chocolate Cheesecake! :P

A shot of our orders. That's quite a lot for us. We weren't able to finish it so we got it wrapped. Every dish was very DELISH!

Oh, and we also played with the crazy hats there! Haha! :)

So here's our little haul from Watsons.

My sister, Trace, bought the following (she's going to Australia and staying there for a loooooong while so she has to stock up on makeup since most of the makeup she uses are priced higher there):

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
(She was jealous of mine so she bought one for herself)

2 Nichido Black Liquid Liners
Nichido Spot Concealer in Natural

A Bonne Salt Scrub and Myra Vita White Whitening Face Lotion

Wet 'n Wild i-Shimmer

Fanny Serrano Two-Way Cake in Chino
(The other one is mine)

And I wanted to buy a cute blush but I didn't find anything of my liking today. So I just bought these:
3 Eyeliners from Wet 'n Wild:
MegaChrome Eyeliner Pencil Crayon Ligneur in 150
Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencil in 130 Pixie
ColorIcon Eyeliner in 661C Amethyst

Celeteque Toner and Cyleina Soaps

And my purchase from a seller in Girltalk already arrived! Yaaaay!
MAC DSquared2 Sculpt and Shape Powder in Bone Beige Emphasize
So excited to use this new baby of mine. ♥
And before I end this post, I saw this earlier!!!
This is where Marionnaud in Mall of Asia used to be situated. Why is it gone?!?
Anyone knows if it's gone for good or is it just under renovation?
I wish it's just the latter.

MAC, Guerlain, Etude House, etc Haul

We went to Mall of Asia to buy
just this :

MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NC 30

but we went home with
ALL of THESE:

2 Guerlain Parure Pearly White Liquid Foundations in shades 03 and 33

 Guerlain Terracotta Sun-Kissed Tinted Moisturizer

2 Guerlain Moisturizing Bronzing Powders

Guerlain Or Imperial Sublime Radiant Powder

Guerlain Terracotta Sun Elixir in 01 Ultimate Gold

These Guerlain products are all at 75% off because the brand will be removing itself from Marionnaud. There are just a handful of products left if you're interested to check it out.

After Marionnaud, we went to SM department store to purchase a few more products:

Etude House Color My Brows in 5 and 3

Etude House Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine Dual Primer

Etude House  Touch Touch Shadow Liner

Etude House Nail Polish in WH702

 and they gave us freebies!!!

Also bought a Fanny Serrano Two-Way Cake and an EB gold liquid liner

and the mascara Dawn's been lemming for just because Lisa Eldridge used this in one of her tutorials --- Max Factor's False Lash Effect!

We just splurged on all of these but they're super worth it!!
We've been busy trying out our new babies!

Which of these do you find most interesting? Anything here you'd like us to review?

 Cheers,
DAWN and TRACE

Wear Fuchsia!

Neither have I ever been fond of any specific shade of lipstick, nor have received so many compliments about my pout (from friends, students, teachers, and relatives online and in person)... Until now.

Regardless of lighting and mood, a bright fuchsia just manages to flatter my face and catch attention!

Natural lighting (sitting right beside a huge window)
@ a coffee shop early afternoon
Indoors at night @ a party
where my professor asked me what
lipstick I'm using so he can buy
thes same shade for his wife!
At the department office,
under ugly fluorescent lights

TIPS:

  • Since the color itself is shocking, get ready to bring out your white and black tops. Loud prints will look weird and awkward when sporting this shade. I've been wearing my plains over and over, and I bought 3 more over the week, because of my fascination with fuchsia!
  • Exfoliate your lips. I'm using C. O. Bigelow's Mentha Lip Buffer in Peppermint (yum)!
  • Since I like my lips matte or semi-matte - because gloss over my full pout will make me look like a, uhm, slutty goldfish - I moisturize with a non-petroleum based balm. I've discovered that the classic Nivea Creme (in the vintage blue tin) gives you that smooth surface without the shine. (Congratulations, BTW, to Nivea for celebrating 100 years --- catch on Facebook! Can I just say that I really like this brand!)
  • Softly line and fill your lips with lip pencil to avoid bleeding. No need to go full-on; just make sure you've colored and shaped your puckers. I'm using Fanny Serrano Lip Pencil in 03. Forgot to do this when I began sporting the shade, and I found the color gunk transfering to outside my lips, seeping through the lines, and feathering!
  • Check once in a while. The color will fade into a stain or you can reapply. Either way, make sure you have a mirror handy.

MY PICKS:

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa
(this under lipsticks will mattify the shade)

Revlon Colorburst in Fuchsia
(gorgeous! almost a dupe of NARS Funny Face)
MAC Amplified Pro Creme lipstick in Full Fuchsia
(more magenta than NARS FF)

#6 is the one that started it all: NARS Funny Face
(almost red, but balanced by blue and magenta tones)

Even if I have these lippies already, I seriously, seriously still want to get my hands on NARS Schiap and MAC Girl About Town.

Anyway, here's to hoping we can all pull off the shade! :)

To end this post, I'll leave you with a totally unrelated picture of a really hot guy:

Ernest Hemingway at 19 years old.
Ooh la la. A lit genius with a face like this?
Have a great day to everyone!

Cheers,
Trace

A Kikay Kit Preview: My Lootwagon's Giveaway Entry!

Hi everyone! I have decided to enter another giveaway, but this time - it's a different sort! I've recently followed Aimee Diego of Lootwagon and have read her reviews and recommendations. She's now hosting a pretty generous giveaway, so of course - I am here to enter and share my own thoughts! We can get lucky, can't we?

My favorite Lootwagon entry is her "What's in my Kikay Kit?" post. I have always loved peering at other girls' purses online (of course, in any other case it would be creepy!). Just take a look at that jampacked nifty kit of cuteness:

I personally do not carry around expensive items in my retouch kit because of a bad experience last year - I went clubbing and I accidentally left my kikay kit on the sink and never got it back! And what was lost? A black Chanel kit, my Shiseido eyelash curler, a Chanel gray eyeliner, a Chanel Glossimer, a The Face Shop foundation powder, a Bloom blush brush, a Bobbi Brown Bridal Face palette and some other expensivo-items. Sad, I know! The content of my bag is more costly than my Nokia 3120c cellphone! Imagine my distress when I realized the items I saved up for *by not eating lunch or skimping on other stuff LOL* were gone, all gone!

So now, I carry around a decent stash that won't make me cry out in agony when misplaced. Unlike Aimee, I can't afford to carry my MAC Studio Fix NC30 and a liquid foundation in my kit, I am just too sloppy and disorganized! Here are the contents of mine:

Laura Mercier clear makeup bag
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder
4U2 Dream Girl Lovelight Oil Control Powder in 2
Laura Mercier Undercover Pot - 2
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in 10 Grapefruit
Shiseido Aqua Diamond Rouge Lipstick in RS392
In2it Blush in CB 02 Kiss
Fanny Serrano Eyelash curler
Kabuki Princess Powder and Angled Blush Brush
Clinique Happy 30ml
Dioraddict 2 Eau de Toilette sample
Valentino Rockin'  Rose Couture Eau de Toilette sample

It is a  mixture of high-end and low-end products, perfect for on-the-go touch ups. Although I have a feeling that the items are about to change since I am getting tired of the shades.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that sneak peek! Do follow and join Aimee's blog contest - on video!

Cheers,
Trace

P.S. This blog entry actually made me depressed, because it brought back memories of my lost kikay kit. Imagine, 3 Chanel items and a Bobbi Brown Bridal Palette that looks like this:

Ganda, right? Good thing I wasn't crazy about that palette (pigmentation wasn't very good)... If that were a NARS palette I would have absolutely gone bonkers.
