Review : Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara

Hey loves!

I've blogged before my review of Max Factor's False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara and in that post, I mentioned how much I loved that mascara. This time I tried a mascara from Max Factor's sister company, CoverGirl!

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara
Not sure how much this is right now at the department stores, but online, at BeautyMNL, it's PhP 655.00.

I was excited to try it out because I was expecting that it will have the same effect as the False Lash Effect. It's packaging's shape is pretty much the same. Anyway, let's check out the labels on the packaging first so we can get to know the product better.

Info from the website

Get volume + length rain or shine!

Our super-volumizing fiberstretch mascara formula and oversized brush make every little lash bigger, fuller, longer-looking and more dramatic.* Also available in original, non-water-resistant formula.

HOW TO USE:

Step 1
If desired, use an eyelash curler BEFORE you apply mascara.

Step 2
Apply one coat of mascara to the upper lids. Coat brush again and reapply– focusing on the outer edges of your lash line.

Step 3
For a more dramatic look, lightly brush your bottom lashes as well.

So according to the product description, we can expect a set of lashes that has more volume and also longer. That's the desired finish I look for in my mascara. :)

It's water-resistant, not waterproof. So I'm thinking that it's a good everyday mascara, except for days that are rainy or if I'll be sweating because of the heat or from certain physical activities.

So on to the review...

I like the bristles of the applicator. It's not very long that it can easily sting my eye. It separates the lashes really well to avoid clumping.

Here's how it performs on my lashes:

Bare lashes

with one coat

with two coate

As you can see, it clearly added volume and length to my lashes. It didn't clump my lashes either. It really works well, except that I want more. I want MORE volume! I want more LENGTH! I want that doll-like lashes that some mascaras (mostly from Japanese brands) can give me.

What I do like is the formulation that doesn't pull down my lashes. I usually curl my lashes first before applying the mascara. The LashBlast Fusion mascara kept my lashes curled... well, I guess it slightly pulled the lashes down, but the curled lashes is still there. It also dries fast upon application, so I don't have to wait a while to close my eyes so that I don't get the product on my lashes to my skin. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the chemical scent.

It is water-resistant. I rarely get any smudges. I get some sometimes, usually when I sweat and my face gets too oily. But that happens very rarely. What I do appreciate the most is that since it is only water-resistant, it's easy to remove with a makeup remover!

To summarize this review:

What I LIKE:
- Doesn't pull down my lashes
- Water-resistant
- Lengthens and volumizes (but not so much)
- Applicator and packaging
- Dries fast after application
- Easy to remove with makeup remover
- Locally available
- Sorta affordable

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Chemical scent
- I prefer more volume and length

Would I buy again?
Well, I don't think I will. I just prefer a more dramatic set of lashes. But I think this is a pretty good everyday-at-work mascara. It will make your lashes longer and thicker but will still look sorta natural, or at least it doesn't look like you're wearing false lashes. It's still pretty good but not good enough for what I want. :P

And that's my review! I hope this was helpful. Let me know what you think! :)

Cheers,

Dawn's December 2016 Haul

Hello loves!

Besides the family and friend bondings and the delicious food, the other things that I enjoy about December are the various sales and the Christmas bonus from work. ;) There's always a shopping spree moment for me during this time of the year. What got me into a more intense shopping spree is the fact that I didn't buy much beauty products during the months of October and November. So yeah, I did some major spending and I love it! :D

Here are the items that you will see on the blog (for reviews and swatches) pretty soon...

Mario Badescu Skincare Glycolic Acid Toner
I ran out of toner so I immediately bought one. I was using one from Skinfood, Kiehl's, and Clarins prior to this one and I loved them all but I thought of trying a new one next. I chose the one with Glycolic Acid because I have acne problems to deal with. I hope this works on me. :)

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Primer - PhP 895.00
Lunasol Skin Contrast Face Powder - PhP 2,499.00

I bought the Stila primer to use on a Stila eyeshadow that was included in a beauty set I bought before. The Lunasol powder, on the other hand, is an unplanned purchase. My sister and I were just in awe when we swatched it. The powder was so soft and smooth that we both bought our own!

Snoe Shoo-Zit Spray Me From Behind -  PhP 349.00
Snoe Rouge Deluxe in Bite Me - PhP 399.00

I finally bought a sort of black lipstick. Yay! And if you want to read my review of the back acne spray, click here.

Zenutrients Luxurious Goat's Milk and Oatmeal Body Scrub - PhP 234.00
Zenutrients Whitening Underarm Cream - PhP 234.00

This body scrub smells AMAZING!

Canmake Mix Eyebrow - PhP 490.00

Snoe Emu Cleanse  - PhP 499.00
I bought it because I know that Emu is good for the skin. It's good for moisturization and has anti-inflammatory benefits. This cleanser also has some acids that suit my skin well and helps treat some of my acne problems.

Girl Stuff Nail polishes in Grace and Machiatto - PhP 100.00 each
Girl Stuff was on sale and I'm looking for nude nail polishes. ;)

Zenutrients Oil-Around Argan
Zenutrients All is Well Balm

Argan works wonders on my hair but it's quite expensive. This 250ml is only PhP 499.00 so hopefully it works well so that I have a more affordable alternative. The All is Well Balm will be placed on my office table. It smells really good. Minty and calming, something that will help me relax on a busy day.

Zen Zest Body Spray in Vanilla Cream
Zen Zest Linen Fragrance in Stimulating

Zen Zest was also on sale. I love it when I smell good and I love it even more when my room and my bed smells good as well. These items are around PhP 100.00 or even less!

Maru Marula Oil Infused Hair Treatment in Vibrant Shine and Intensive Moisture

I was looking for hair treatment and I chose to get these because they were only PhP 75.00 and the packaging looks cool. Haha! I hope they're good. :P

L.A. Girls Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Dreamy - PhP 349.00

I was deceived! I bought this because I asked the S.A. what lipstick she used because it was like a brick red color with a hint of burnt sienna shade. She said she used this one and I was puzzled actually because her lipcolor did not look anything like the color of the lip gloss as seen on the clear packaging, but she swore that it was this one. I dunno if she was lying, but this shade is pretty close to MAC's Ruby Woo—red with bluish undertone. I wanted a warm-almost brown shade! Oh the deception. The betrayal, man!

Revlon Photoready Eye Art in Peach Prism - PhP 468.75

This was on sale. The original price was around PhP 650.00. I liked the shade and I also like that it has 2 products—a metallic base and a glittery liner.

Covergirl TruBlend - PhP 200.00
Another product on sale. But this is for my mom. :)

Marrionaud Pointed Eyeshadow brush - PhP 89.75
Marrionaud Eyelash Curler Refill - PhP 33.00

Marrionaud Pedicure Metal Corn Cutter - PhP 109.00
Veert Wax Strips for Normal Skin - Php 257.00

I also took advantage of Etude House's Year-End sale. They have a promo wherein you get 2 products for the price of 1. This will last until January 17 or until supplies last.

Etude House Hot Style Bubble Hair Coloring
in Cherry Brown and Sweet Orange - PhP 428.00 for both

You don't have to get the same shade too. As long as it's the same product. I've been planning to change hair color and I was able to get two shades. I'll be using the Cherry Brow first and maybe the other one after 5-6 months I guess. :P

Etude House Color My Brows in Natural Brown - PhP 378.00 for both

Browcaras are now a staple in my beauty kit because of my thick brows. Glad that this was included in the sale!

Etude House My Beauty Tool Eyeliner Brush - PhP 248.00

I actually just bought this to get a better freebie. Haha!

5 I Need You Mango Mask and 1 I Need You Olive Mask - PhP 174.00 for all six

Etude House Stay Up Foundation in Ivory and Beige - PhP 778.00

I bought different shades because one is for me and one is for a friend. It's like I got them for PhP 300+ each only!

And these are my freebies! 3 mini Precious Mineral BB Creams and a Mini Precious Mineral Any Cushion! You can get it if your purchase amount to at least PhP 2,000.00.

And of course, I didn't leave out my art material shopping. I know I bought a lot of art stuff two months ago, but I just can't help myself... These make me happy. :)

 Calligraphy Pad - Php 179.75
Kami Marker Pad - 848.75

 3 Palomino Pencils - Php 119.00 each

Pebeo Huile XL Oil Colours - PhP 517.00
I know this is student quality and I think I should level it up a bit but it has been more than two years since I last used oil paint. I better practice again. :P

Black Paper Sketchbook - PhP 399.00

I also just want to show you some products my sister gave me. Most are lip glosses and that Armani liquid lipstick is something that you should check out because it's really good! Gonna post a swatch soon!

And those are the new stuff I got last December! Which ones are you curious about? ;)

Cheers

FOTD : Because I'm Feeling Mod

 Hey gorgeous!

Here's the FOTD post I was supposed to publish yesterday.

I was out with the family at BGC to celebrate my mom's birthday.

Because of all the hype with bold, matte lipsticks, I've forgotten to use most of my pale lippies. I actually have quite a number of them because I really liked doing smokey makeup.
So yesterday, I explored my makeup stash again and used the palest gloss I have and partnered it with a sexy cat eye liner. No smokey eyes for this one. Just all mod. I used white eyeshadow and some brown ones to add "depth" to my eyes. Too bad I didn't have falsies when I did this cuz they would have added a little more 'umph' to the look!

 MAKEUP USED:

FACE:

Etude House Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine Dual Primer
Chanel Mat Lumiere Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup in 40 Beige
San San Age Defense 2 Way Cake in 01
Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer in Pure Beige
E.L.F. Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter

EYES:

Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer
Etude House Drawing Eye Brow in Brown
Etude House Color My Brows in 3
Dollface Cosmetics 88 pcs Eye Shadow Palette
Dollface Gel Liner in Black
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Wet 'N Wild ColorIcon Eyeliner in White
Idol Eyes Creme Shadow Pencil in 130 Pixie

CHEEKS:

CoverGirl (I forgot the shade)
Benefit Georgia

LIPS:
MAC Viva Glam Lipglass in Gaga 2

And here are other vain pics I took...

I feel like it works perfectly with the new bangs and my 'doll-like' curls as Liz calls them. I liked the look so much that I will probably do more mod looks for the next few days. Haha.

What do you think of this FOTD? Should it stay or should I stick with colorful ones?

Cheers,
DAWN
