Chihuahua Cosmetics Eyeliner in Black

Hi dears!

I believe that most makeup enthusiast's problem is not fully using all the products they buy before it expires. I think it's because we jump to another product even before we finish the one we currently have, not necessarily because we don't like the quality, but because of our curiosity to try something new. I'm guilty of that, and I buy so, soooo much, especially blushes and eyeshadows that takes a long time for me to finish.

So when I saw Chihuahua Cosmetics' ad saying, "When was the last time you finished a lipstick?" placed on their booth at the BDJ x Project Vanity Beauty Bootcamp, it got me thinking—it's been a looong time ago since I did! I thought of all the products I wasted just because I wanted to try a new one. And so I appreciate what Chihuahua Cosmetics is doing and that's providing products that are smaller in size so we can actually use up the products we buy (it feels really good to actually get your money's worth and actually use up the makeup you have). Their items are also travel-friendly too!

Pitch Black is what it's name says, it's a solid black color! This range has the classic bold red, nude, pink, and purple hues; but it also has other unique shades like a solid white one and even a blue one. You can mix them up together to create a new lippie color!

I find darker shades make my skin look radiant so mixing this up with my other favorite bold, matte lipsticks would be a great idea. Maybe if I'm a bit braver, I can wear it alone! Haha!

Packaging looks a lot like the regular Color Sensational lipsticks, but the cap is in a different color—blue. The design is pretty simple. It's not my favorite look... but hey, I don't expect to get anything fancy when you buy something so affordable.

It has a creamy consistency that makes application easier and also helps blend the colors better if you plan on mixing it up. After a while, I notice it somehow becomes a bit more matte, which is a quality I really like because I tend to mix it with my mattes.

Review: BYS Jumbo Liquid Eyeliner Pen

Good evening ladies,

I have been using this eyeliner pen from BYS since they gave it during their anniversary event last year. I'd gotten so busy in the following months after that event that I kind of forgot to share what I thought about it. So here's my review of this product.

At first, I wasn't all that happy about this eyeliner pen. First, it's JUMBO, so naturally I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get a thin line with it. Second, when I first tried it during the event, I had to put some pressure before getting the line I want (thus I thought it was going to be one painful liner to apply). It laid around my make-up stash for sometime until I had to travel and pack light so (at the time) I felt forced to use it. After my second use, I never parted from it again.

I guess since I left it with the point down, it had enough time to soak the felt so when I used it again,it glided smoothly over my lids. One swipe and you get a jet black finish. The line is not as harsh as the older pen/brush type liquid liners and to me looks more like an in between gel and pencil. Also I found that I had better control with the jumbo than with my old thin pens.

Here's a swatch I did on my hand. 

It looks a little less appealing since I tried drawing a very thin line.

Anyway, here it is after vigorous rubbing.

Since I am prone to rubbing my eyes, I tried simulating that here. The fade out is still quite acceptable and I like the fact that it doesn't smudge as much.

Unlike previous reviews where I have picture of my eye immediately after putting make-up on, I opted to post the after 10 hours look.

This is exactly why this jumbo liner will be a permanent resident in my make-up stash. I did not retouch nor did I put any eye primers prior to applying the liner. It stayed jet black and without smudge for the whole 10 hours I was at work.

It's very durable but clean up is easy as well. I basically just wet a cotton pad with cleansing water, press it onto my lids for 5 to 10 seconds (no need to rub) and the liner comes off cleanly. I haven't experienced any post-make-up raccoon eyes with this liner so I'm quite happy.

I haven't visited Watsons in a while so I can't give you the price for this liner yet. I will try to update you with the price range as soon as I can.

Review: The Body Shop Smoky 2 in 1 Gel Liner in 01 Black

Last month, The Body Shop introduced to us their new 2-in-1 Gel Liners. I was sent one to  try it out and to make a review about it. So here are my thoughts about this product!

One of the claims that they use in their marketing is that it's the first gel liner for the eyes and the brows. They also say that it can create precise lines and stays up to 24 hours. Just by reading that, I became really excited about it. Wouldn't you be too? :)

But let's get to know the product more first by reading these info from their website and the press release: 

So this comes in two shades—Black and Brown. I think, at least for me, the two in one claim of this gel liner only applies to the brown if you'll be using this in an everyday thing. The black one is just too intense. I guess I'd only use the black one on the brows if I will be doing a creative look.

It looks so good so far. 

So let's take a look at the packaging of the product now.

It came like this. Pretty much the same as some of the gel liners I've tried.

The product itself is completely sealed. It is housed in a folded paper that contains the important labels.  

You can also see the important info around and at the bottom of the packaging.

It also comes with an applicator and it is housed on the packaging. I like this concept a lot because having to bring a separate applicator can be a hassle especially if you have the usual long handle that's included in a brush set, which can't fit in your kikay kit, or if you have a short one, which can get easily lost.

And the brush really is handy! Even if it's short, it's still easy to manipulate, the brush is soft and doesn't have any fly-away bristles, and it doesn't shed easily.

Here's the product!

It's very rich and creamy which makes application very easy. No weird smell too!

And here are the swatches:

On my hand

I applied it thickly on top and then a thin one on the bottom.

I let it dry for two minutes...

Swiped my fingers lightly once.

Yikes. It smudged easily.

Then I wiped it with a dry tissue...

Almost everything was gone!

I was surprised and disappointed. I thought this was supposed to be long-lasting? Two minutes drying time is way too long for a gel liner. 

Anyway, here's how I apply it as an eyeliner

It's not too black. I prefer the really black ones. This also transfers on my upper lid. And when I get oily, it just smudges all over. It still happens when I use primer and use powder eyeshadow to prolong the oiliness. Sigh.

The good side of this is that it makes a good primer to make your pigments bolder when you're doing a smoky eye makeup.

My bronzy eyeshadow from MAC stood out really well when applied on top of the product.

I'd rather use this under my eyeshadow than defining my eyes as an eyeliner. So yeah, it is really for the smoky eyes.

What I LIKE:

- Packaging

- It comes with an applicator 

- Creamy and easy to apply

- Sort of affordable

- Locally available

- Brown shade can be used for brows too

- Helps intensify smoky eyeshadow makeup

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Smudges easily

- Not long-lasting

- Not black enough for me

As much as I love products from this brand, I'm quite disappointed with this one. I just think that the cons are too important for me when it comes to eyeliners. :(

Review : Heroine Make Quick Eyeliner in #01 Black

Sharing a review of this eyeliner I received when I attended the brand launch of Heroine Make at SM Mall of Asia last September...

Here is the product info on the packaging:

It claims to be waterproof, has intense pigmentation, and also gentle for the area around the eyes. These claims got me excited and I guess also gave me higher expectations.

So let's check first the appearance of the product.

It has a hot pink packaging. Very girly, so me (although I'm not really into hot pinks)!

It's a twist-up eyeliner so no need to sharpen! It's very easy to use!

At the end, it has a smudger to create a more subtle finish or to create very awesome smokey eyes.

Here is a swatch on my hand

It does give intense pigmentation. It's dark and it can go darker as you layer it.

I like that it's thin so you can easily create thin lines.

Below are pictures of my eyes with the product applied:

I can create a fine cat eyes using this pencil. I actually find it hard to have a precise eyeliner wing using pencil but this one made it very easy for me. 

But what I noticed at first stroke is that it's hard and dry and it's quite difficult for me to swatch it, especially around my eye area. 

I also don't find it to be waterproof. Water resistant, yes. Not much of an issue for me but the thing is, it gets ruined with oil easily... and I have oily lids. So it gets all over my lids once it gets oily resulting to a ruined eye makeup. :( I can try to stall my lids from getting oily by using a good primer and powder eyeshadow but I guess it's better to just stick with better liners for the top lash line.

But applied at the bottom lash line, it works great. It can stay for a good four hours! I agree with the "Never Get Defeated by Tears" line on the label. :P

This product never caused me irritations although the hardness and dryness feels very uncomfortable because I feel like my skin around the area is getting pushed and pulled when I apply this.

So let's summarize:

What I LIKE:

- Pigmentation

- Can create thin, precise lines

- Packaging

- Water-resistant

- No irritations

- Locally available

- Comes with a smudger

- Sort of affordable

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Product is hard and dry

- Smudges easily once my lids get oily

Would I repurchase?

I don't think so. Though the cons are just a couple, they are a serious matters to me, so I would skip this product. I am interested in the liquid eyeliner though!
