The Body Shop: Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Good evening!

Two weeks ago, I went to one of The Body Shop's May sale launch and splurged on a few items and one of them is this Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.

I was super ecstatic with it since at the time, my mom had not bought any shampoo for use at home and I was in the middle of a dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis attack. I was either constantly scratching my head, or busy checking my shoulders for dandruff debris... I know, it's kind of yuck sharing, but that was my situation and I just somehow jumped for joy at the opportunity of seeing an anti-dandruff shampoo.

So, here's what this product promises.

The product really smells of ginger, but it's not overpowering. The smell is actually quite therapeutic and adds to that refreshing feeling when you're taking a bath.

The product is also quite light. As you can see, the shampoo is a clear fluid, with a consistency of syrup with a little mix of water.

It's fairly easy enough to use. Just apply it directly to your hair and rinse. Now with the product looking like that, you'd think it doesn't foam up as quickly right? Or you'd need a lot of it to get that clean feeling? I did and was I wrong. The product was not only easy to foam up, I only needed quite a few of it to get my whole hair clean. It also was quite soothing to the scalp. I have been using this product for the past few weeks and it has done quite a good job at keeping flakes away and keeping my scalp itch free. It has also somewhat softened and smoothed my hair. I also noticed that the amount of falling/broken hair that I have when showering, has severely decreased when I started using this. Just makes me believe that this shampoo is very gentle and nourishing to my scalp.

My mom also used this product once and she's fond of mixing shampoo in water first to get it to foam, then apply it onto her hair. She got just about the same results.

I do have to say that I have previously used Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo for my hair once before using this product so I guess, my hair had already been partially treated for dandruff. Still, it is a personal dictum of mine to treat my skin conditions with the prescribed meds then supplement them with others for maintenance. So I cannot fully recommend this when you're in full dandruff flare. I do think it's quite good for everyday use.

So if you'd like to give it a try as well, now is a good time to stock on them. They cost around 550 a bottle but for their May sale, it's 25% less. It's a good buy, especially since you won't really need to use up a lot of the product to get the results you want.

If you've tried it before and longer than I have, do comment and share. I'd be happy to know how it works out for others.

Cheers,
LIZ

    1. It does make me want to try all their other shampoos... but since I'm coloring my hair with bold colors for these review months, I can't. We'll be sure to take a look at that tag. :)
