Review : Baviphat Magic Girls Plus BB Cream #1

Hello loves!

Since it's the summer season here in the Philippines, my face is extra oily and I sweat more than usual. Because of these, my makeup tends to melt, especially if I forget to blot off excess sebum.

That's why I try to use makeup that are made for oily skin like me. So today, I'll share with you one product that I bought some months ago that does that.

Baviphat Magic Girls Plus BB Cream #1

I forgot how much this is when I bought it but I guess it's around Php 800.00-1k in stores? But that's just a rough estimate. I really can't remember. :P

Can't read the details though. But still posting the labels just in case you can read it. :P

This BB has two variants, #1 is for oily skin while the other, #2, is for dry skin.

Loving the packaging art! The illustration gives the vintage feel to the product. 

It claims that it has SPF30 and PA++. The SPF is quite good. These properties are great for the summer!

It smells nice but it's barely noticeable. It's like sweet and herby and baby powder fused together.

Consistency is a little thick but just a little. It's very easy to spread and blend and it also feels light on skin.

It gives a slight dewy/ semi-matte finish and gives a light but buildable coverage.

What I love about this BB Cream is that it's shade is warm enough to match my skin perfectly unlike most BB Creams which are lighter or pinker or sometimes even greyer.

Performance is great! It can last the whole day if you blot off the excess sebum which I only do twice for the whole day at work (around 10 hours of wearing makeup). It helps if you set it with powder to make it last longer and also to make it matte which I prefer when I do my makeup. Been using this everyday when I go to work (along with a lot of concealer because this doesn't help much in covering my scars and pimples) and I do not experience any breakouts or other irritations.

What I LIKE:

- Matches my yellow-toned skin!

- Controls oil

- Lasts long

- SPF 30 and PA++

- Locally available (there's a stall in Cinderella, Glorietta)

- Consistency

- Easy to spread and blend

- Light on skin

- Packaging

- No breakouts or irritations

What I am NEUTRAL about:

- Price

- Semi-matte finish

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Coverage is minimal

Would I purchase again? I probably will. It really makes my face look decent for a long period of time during this awfully hot weather. I recommend this to those who have oily skin who loves using BB Creams that doesn't mind light coverage.

Review : Holika Holika Oil Queen Cotton Primer

One of my biggest concerns during summer days is the staying power of my makeup. The heat and humidity usually cause my makeup to fade or cake. That's definitely a no-no!

So a primer is a must for me, especially since I have oily skin. It helps in so many ways to make your makeup last longer—it prevents caking and fading, hides pores, makes skin softer, and more. I've tried several primers now and I've also reviewed some, each specializing in an area. For today's review, I'll be sharing with you guys a product that specializes in controlling oil.

Holika Holika Oil Queen Cotton Primer

It's Php 485.00.

I bought this last October from their SM Fairview branch but this is also available via Glamourbox.

Let's check the product info on the box:

It's kinda blurry (sorry), so I got more info from the Holika Holika Canada website:

  Sebum control primer that controls overflow of sebum and changes the skin from an oily skin to a soft skin

DIRECTIONS:
  After base skin care, softly apply focusing on parts with sebum

and also at the bottom of the bottle includes the expiration date and some other info that is in Korean or Hangul (is that right?)...

So let's talk about the packaging...

It's in a plastic bottle that holds 30ml of product. The design is very cute and clean. It really has a cute cotton character wearing a crown!

Dispensing the product is very simple because you just pump it out. The cap though is hard to clean because it has the shape of the pump so try to wipe the pump before closing it after every use so that no product will be stuck in the cap. It's for hygienic purposes too.

So this is the product. The scent is like a cross between fruity and baby powder... I like it. :P 

It's white in color and the consistency is a little thick... sort of like the usual BB cream.

It makes the skin a little silkier. Careful with the amount you put on because it leaves a white matte finish so blend it very well.

In terms of performance, it really does what it says, that it effectively controls excess sebum. I don't get as oily as I usually do when I use this primer (my face becomes a greaseball without any product on after a few hours). It takes around 4-5 hours before I have to blot my face which is quite impressive considering that it's so hot right now in the Philippines. And also, it has SPF15. It may be a bit low but I don't usually rely solely on primers for my SPF—I also have sunscreens, BB Creams and foundations (even my daytime moisturizers have SPF) for that especially since the sun is more intense this summer.

What I DON'T LIKE:

- The cap

- It's too white

Would I buy again?

Yes! I really like this product because excess sebum is one of my skin concerns and this really help in dealing with it and prolonging my makeup. I recommend this to those with oily (like me) and combination skin.

My B•liv Experience

Hello everyone!

During the last week of April, I was contacted by Josephine to try out B•liv. They asked what my skin type was and other skin concerns and they suggested me a routine to follow using their products to remedy these problems. I immediately agreed to try it and I received this products from B•liv a few days after:

I was so excited to try them out. I wasn't aware of the brand but checking out their website really got me curious. Besides, I'd do what I can to get my skin looking better since this has been an issue of mine since I hit puberty. I was glad that I got the opportunity to try something like this, a skin care set formulated to fix MY skin problems.

So before anything else, what's b•liv all about?

These three I use daily. 2 of them twice a day.

Below are individual shots with descriptions of the products. I've also linked them to the website in case you'd like t know more about each. I can't do a detailed review on each of them since I used them together.

Off with Those Heads - Removes blackheads and whiteheads, controls oils and prevents breakouts

This has a clear gel consistency and is mildly scented, much like the other products which I like since I don't like applying products on my face that smells too strong (unless they smell of Vanilla. :P). This product feels so cool on the skin when applied.

Shrink and Tighten - tightens porer, firming and brightening.

It has sort of oil-like consistency but it isn't oil! It just feels thick when applied and it has a warm sensation that will last for a few seconds til it gets completely absorbed by the skin.

Spots Got Shot - dries up acne, soaks up excessive oil, prevents acne reoccurrence and removes dead skin cell

This has a white, creamy texture. This too gets absorbed by the skin pretty quickly.

Glow and Shine - gently exfoliates skin, lightens and brightens the dull and uneven tone

I love how these smell. It's creamy with a bit of fine, gritty scrubs for exfoliation. I so love how my face feels like after using this.

(I've already used the other mask sheet before remembering to take photos. Sorry.)

Kick Spots Out - Soothing and Oil Controlling, remove acne causing factors and prevent future complications

 Japan Silk Mask Repair & Rescue - sensitive Salvation

 Here are the directions they gave me on how to use these products:

Day:

1. Cleanse your face and apply toner evenly.

2. Apply 2-3 drops of OffWithThoseHeads at T-zone & problem area.

3. Tip SpotsGotShot on the affected or spotted area.

4. Apply moisturizer and sunblock.

 Night:

1. Cleanse your face and apply toner evenly.

2. Apply 2-3 drops of OffWithThoseHeads at T-zone & problem area.

3. Apply 2-3 drops of ShrinkAnd Tighten+ and gently massage until fully absorbed

4. Tip SpotsGotShot on the affected or spotted area.

5. Apply moisturizer

6. [Once a week] Apply a thick layer of GlowAndShine evenly on your face and neck. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and gently massage with wet hands for 5-10 seconds. Rinse well with plenty of water.

7. [Once a week] {lace SheetMask on face for 20-30 minutes. Remove Mask and gently massage excess serum into the skin.

8. [2-3 times a week] Place Japan Silk Mask on Face for 20-30 minutes. Remove Mask and gently massage excess serum into the skin.

I followed the directions strictly and never skipped a day. Such a disciplined kid I was! It was quite surprising! Haha! I used to forget doing my skin care before. :P 

 Anyway, here was my photo before I used B•liv:

Yes, I do look unpleasant without makeup. Haha. Please bare with my natural face.

And below is what my face looked like after 3 weeks with B•liv:

I kind of got a little darker because I went swimming. :P

My face wasn't as dull and it seemed to help with tightening some of my pores which you can see in these side by side pictures of my left cheek below:

 It didn't do much on the acne marks though but all throughout the time I was using b•liv, I never got any new breakout! That impressed me the most.

My 3 week experience didn't made drastic changes to my skin but it helped avoid reoccurrences for sure. I didn't encounter and irritations on my skin and I like how these products feel good when applied (I don't appreciate products that feel greasy).

Do I recommend this?
I do, especially their Glow & Shine. Though the change was subtle, it still delivered what it promised. The products were easy to use and they didn't made any damage to my skin so I believe that b•liv is worth the try!

Double Review : Krave Cosmeceuticals Oil Eliminator and Misty Pritz

Today I shall be sharing with you a double review of products from Krave.

I reviewed both products in the same post since I use them together and I've been using these two for almost a month now...

These products are...

 Krave Cosmeceuticals Oil Eliminator 

and 

Krave Cosmeceutical Misty Pritz

I got these using the GC Krave gave me during their first anniversary event a few months back.

First, let's go to the Oil Eliminator...

I believe this is the new packaging... It looks classy and the puff is very soft. It gives off the right amount of product that should be applied. Only thing I didn't like is that since you have to use it directly to skin, it can get kinda unhygienic since I don't think the puff can be taken off for washing.

Most of the important descriptions are already there. I like that they made the box look classy and all but the label is quite hard to read. I guess I notice this things since I'm an advertising arts graduate and took up 2 courses of package design. I guess they need to find a better printing partner or a better material to print on. :P

So let's go to the review:

This is worth Php520.00.

Here's the product on my arm:

The powder is very fine and smooth. Easy to blend on skin. It is odorless too which I like.

But be careful on how much product you put on because it can still leave your face kinda whitish. See what happens to my arm when I try to blend the product.

Here's my face with my usual makeup...

and here is my face when I apply the oil eliminator.

It lessened the shine, gave my face a matte finish and it did minimize the appearance of my annoying large pores. So yayy! But it didn't really control the shine of my face for 12 hours long. I got super oily already in a matter of 4 to 5 hours. Longer than usual since I really do have oily skin.

So that's where the Misty Pritz come in...

I've been looking for an affordable Setting spray and I was glad to see that Krave offers one and it's just for Php 450.00.

Just like my thoughts on the box of the oil eliminator, the printing is kinda bad. 

Here's what's on the back. Now this is much, much more readable! 

This is a spray bottle and in just 2 sprays, you can get the product around your face already.

The product is also odorless, colorless and easily dries up on your face. It get's absorbed by the skin quite fast. I feel refreshed when I spray this. I would bring this in my kikay kit but the bottle is too heavy.

I don't know if this does anything to makeups such as eyeliner/ mascaras that aren't waterproof but just to be safe, make sure that you spray it at least 10 inches away from your face.

So let's see how the combo of the oil eliminator and the Misty Pritz work on me by challenging myself not to retouch nor even blot the oil off my face while I was out of the house for 7 hours.

As you can see in the pictures, I'm still oily and shiny as usual. I got all oily/shiny in 4 to 5 hours. But what I like is that my makeup didn't cake and I didn't experience any smudging from my eyeliners/mascaras that usually happens when my face gets too oily.

And these products never gave me skin irritations nor breakouts which is great. These two might also take you a while to finish them off since a little amount goes a long way.
