August and Early September (2016) Haul

Hey guys!

It's my birthday month and I started buying my birthday gifts early! HA~! Well, I do have a birthday bonus from my work so I have the extra money to spend. Some of these were from the kindness of my mom's heart too. LOL

Anyway, just sharing my newly acquired stuff for art, fashion, hygiene, and beauty!

Art After War by Patrick Flores - PhP 5,500.00
The Struggle for Philippine Art by Purita Kalaw-Ledesma and Amadis Ma. Guerrero - PhP 3,500.00

I took my comprehensive exam in grad school last month and these books contain majority of the topics included in one of our tests. I didn't have to buy them since these are also available in the UST Library, BUT during the last couple of weeks before the exam, classes were interrupted because of the heavy rains and I can't access the books. Thinking that these can be good reference materials for my thesis and will also be a good addition to my growing art library, I bought them... well, my mom bought them for me since it will be my birthday soon. I actually just borrowed money since I didn't have cash on hand, but she said I don't have to pay her back. Thanks, Mom!

Tokyo Finds Metallic Pens - PhP 299.75 (from Fully Booked)
I sort of regretted buying this because I still have metallic pens at home. What I like about this is that the end is like a felt-tip kind and not the metallic pointed tip so I can produce thicker lines. All colors work great on black paper and I can still use it on my artworks, which makes these an okay buy.

CRAYONS!

Yes, these are for me to use. Haha! I actually make crayon art! ;)
I'm trying to find other good crayon brands to try. I really like Crayola but I wanted to see if there are professional-grade crayons. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any at National Bookstore, Glorietta, but I'll check out art stores next!

Dorothy Perkins Dress

It was on sale for PhP 1.1k. The print is cute kasi e! Haha!

Messy Bessy Roach Repellant Spray - Around PhP 240.00

The creature I'm scared of (well, at least among the creatures I encounter in the city) the most is the flying ipis! I like this because it doesn't smell as bad as the Baygon brand that my mom uses at home.

Desk and Workspace Cleaner - PhP 70.00

You can use it to wipe your computer/laptop screens too!

Margins Dishwashing Liquid - PhP 45.00

I use this to clean my makeup brushes. I clean my brushes at least once a week and I use quite a lot of tools since I don't use the same brushes (especially the ones for foundations/bb creams) more than once so having an affordable and effective cleaning product is a must for me.

Luxe Scents Fresh Bamboo Aroma Concentrate - Around PhP 200.00
This smells super awesome!!!

Of course I had to drop by Beauty Bar to check what's on sale...

Natura Siberica Cooling Foot Cream Peeling - PhP 261.25
Natura Siberica Smoothing Heel and Foot Balm - PhP 166.25

These babies are on sale from PhP 475.00 so I bought them to give my feet some TLC!

Palladio Eye Shadow Quad in Copper N Chic - PhP 166.25

Original price was PhP 475.00.

Mineral Fusion Volumizing Beauty Balm For Hair - PhP 382.25

Original Price was PhP 695.00

Mineral Fusion Hair Repair Conditioner - PhP 324.50
Original Price was PhP 590.00

Natura Siberica Tonic Lotion - PhP 218.75
Original Price was PhP 625.00. This is gonna expire by October but since it's affordable now and I'll be using it daily AND it's for oily skin, then I just decided to try it out and see if it's good. :P

AND LOOK!

Cargo is now in the Philippines! I remember my first Cargo product back in 2006. It's a blush that's already phased out called "Gotham." It was a favorite of Liz and I. :)

Just this weekend I made some serious spending too. Check these out:

Kasaysayan: The History of the Filipino People - PhP 3,500.00
(from Fully Booked)
I wasn't able to get it for less than 2k when it was on sale but 3.5k is still a good steal.

We also went to the Manila Sundance Bazaar held in the World Trade Center last weekend.

I bought pretty much the same stuff I did when I went with Liz at the Supersale Bazaar last July.

A sketch pad (PhP 150.00) and a fountain pen with refills (PhP 50.00) from Variety Online (Instagram)

A necklace (PhP 200.00) from Soulmade

Got these clothes for PhP 150.00:

Lastly, we were able to score this Hario v60 Dripper for PhP 150.00 from the bazaar.

Again, I went to Beauty Bar to splurge on a few more stuff...

Canus Lavender Soaps - PhP 127.50 each
Original price was PhP 150.00

ArtDeco Nail Lacquer in Ruby Cream - PhP 130.00
Original price was PhP 325.00

ArtDeco Miami Collection Eyeshadow Stick in American Girl - PhP 178.50
Original price was PhP 595.00

ArtDeco Glam Vintage Lipstick in Glamorous Valentine - PhP 268.50
Original price was PhP 895.00

Phew! That's a lot! Haha! So yeah, a happy early birthday to me. LOL

Messy Bessy Natural Hydrating Body Wash in Kiwi

Hey lovelies!

The days are getting hot again because summer is fast approaching. After being exposed to the heat and getting all sweaty, it's a great feeling to take a bath or shower at the end of the day. Lately, I've been loving every bath time because I just smell so good whenever I use the...

Messy Bessy Natural Hydrating Body Wash

The bottle was sent to me a few months back. :)

The brand was actually new to me, but I felt happy to know about it because it means that more Proudly Pinoy brands are available in the market, and it's all-natural too! So what is Messy Bessy anyway? Here's what I've seen on their website:

"At Messy Bessy, we are serious in our commitment to clean your homes without harming your health and polluting our planet. This is why every step of our business is taken with meticulous care – from choosing only natural ingredients, to encouraging our customers to reuse and refill.

And at the heart of Messy Bessy, is project HOUSE (Helping Ourselves through Sustainable Enterprises). HOUSE is a group of enterprises that employ and educate formerly abused, trafficked, incarcerated and impoverished young adults.

The Helping Ourselves Program or HOP is a program where the learners are graded based on their academics, core values, work ethics and work training. We are proud of the partnership we recently signed with Manila Business College, which gives our learners the opportunity to pursue and acquire their college diploma."

The scent I have is Kiwi and this smells really, really good. I like my bath products smelling really good. I'm not into fruity, especially citrusy scents, though but this Kiwi one is just so addicting for me! If you have a chance to smell this, go ahead and see (smell?) for yourself how awesome the scent is!

I looked at their website for product info so we can get to know more about it.
I'm not sure if this one is the same as their Hand and Body Wash because I can't find their Hydrating Body Wash on the website. But I figured that both are body washes so I assumed that their qualities are pretty similar and I just posted the info here so we can have some idea what Messy Bessy Body Washes can do. Here's what the website says about their Hand and Body Wash:

"You deserve nothing more than the purest liquid soap you can find – free of sulfate, parabens, colorant & toxins that can work its way through your skin and into your body. Available in 4 yummy scents: Aloe & Green Tea, Kiwi Lemon, Ocean Rain, Vanilla Orange.

P 180 200ml / P 550 2-liter refill55

TO USE, Apply the Hand & Body Wash directly on your skin or on a bath sponge. Lather & Rinse.

Ingredients: Purified water, Potassium Cocoate, Monoethanolimide Coconut Amide, Sodium Lactate, Essential Oils, Sodium Chloride (thickener). Yup that’s all!"

The product is a bit runny and it's clear. It foams up pretty well and you instantly smell the sweet fragrance easily. The scent lingers for a few minutes (maybe 'til 15-30 minutes if you're not under the sun and sweating) after bath. I just love using this because I smell SO GOOD.

What I love more is that it's all natural! We all know that it's important to take care of the skin. It is it the biggest organ of our body that functions as our protection from our environment. What we put on our skin also gets absorbed into our body, so knowing that Messy Bessy is all natural, I feel like it's safer than other commercial brands. I did not encounter irritation nor allergies from this product... so yay!

Messy Bessy: The Little Warrior

Good day ladies,

I have recently been given a Messy Bessy alcohol spray for Christmas and have been using it for the past few days. I wanted to do a short review of the product.

Messy Bessy is a local brand that started out in 2007. They sell worry-free household cleaning products, all of which are made with safe, non-toxic, all natural, biodegradable ingredients. They hope to spread awareness about the harm caused by conventional house hold cleaning items to the planet, create all natural alternatives, and educate and guide their customers and all others into going green. If you want to know more about their products and their campaign, you can visit their website at http://www.messybessy.com

As you can see this alcohol spray is made with sugarcane alcohol, aloe vera extract and essential oils. Actually while using it, I hardly felt like I was using an alcohol spray since it didn't feel drying on the hands. The alcohol was as gentle water and yet it leaves a soft feeling on the skin. However, since it feels like that, I end up spraying more on my hands (not very "matipid").

The price for this spray is Php 70 for 50 ml bottle and Php 500 for 1-liter refill bottle. Messy Bessy also offers Php 10 discount if you return your used bottles to them; now that's a very environmentally friendly policy. I hope other companies have similar policies too.

The alcohol has a kiwi scent infused in it and it really smells like kiwi. One spray and the scent permeates through your hands and the air. The only problem I have with it is that, the scent is overpowering. It isn't particularly offensive to the nose with one spray, but one spray can hardly cover your hands, so you need at least 2 sprays. This is where it gets too strong. I used it once inside my uncle's car and they had to open the windows since the smell was too strong.

That's actually all I have to say about this product. It's really nice but I'd rather the smell was dialed down but if you're a big fan of the kiwi small then this would be perfect.

Tell us if you have tried other Messy Bessy products or if there are any you'd recommend for us to try.

Cheers,
LIZ
