Review : Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

Hello dears!

It's time for another product review! Wooot!

Since the "extreme" heat is making us sweat so much, a waterproof mascara is your hero when it comes to your eye makeup. Good thing for me, I received one from my Glamourbox last February when they tied up with the cosmetic brand Eye of Horus.

Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara
This is Php 990.00.

Info from the website:

GODDESS MASCARA

Uniquely formulated in the style of the ancient Egyptians with natural waxes and the revered Moringa Oil, found in Tutankhamen's tomb. Ideal for sensitive eyes, Eye Of Horus Goddess Mascara strengthens and lengthens for Ultimate Goddess lashes. Natural based formula wont clump, run or smudge. Volumising, Nourishing and Paraben Free.

Ingredients

Aqua (water), Acrylates Copolymer, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Cera Carnauba (Carnauba Wax), Stearic Acid, Rice Bran Wax, Candelilla Wax, Glyceryl stearate, PVP, Organic Moringa oleifera seed Oil, Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, Methylisothiazolinone, Carbon Black.

Caring for your mascara:

To maintain the condition of your mascara please ensure the cap is screwed tight after each application as the product is made with natural waxes and oil.

This is the closeup of the wand. It's a bit big, which is not a problem for me since I'm used to applying mascara with big wands. The wand has many little bristles to separate the lashes and prevent any clumping.

Here's a swatch on my hand

When I tried removing the swatch on my hand by just wiping, nothing happened. I had to use some of my makeup oil removers to get the job done. Awesome staying power!

Let's see how it performs:
Bare lashes

With one coat of the Goddess Mascara

Application is easy and I didn't encounter any clumping when I add more product. My lashes still look somewhat natural but darker and with a little more volume. What I notice though is that it pulls down my lashes. I guess the formula is heavy? Another thing I notice is that it takes a while to dry after application. I can't close my eyes because my lashes will touch the skin under my eyes and leave some product on them. It kept on happening whenever I am getting ready to go to work. This is one of the mascaras that take a while to dry completely.

This mascara is waterproof. I didn't experience any smudging around my eyes even when I sweat a lot and even with my oily face. What I like about this is that even if it is waterproof, removing it from my lashes is not as hard as most of the waterproof mascaras that I have tried. That's a big plus for me because removing mascaras can be a hassle and can lead to lashes falling out and it can even cause wrinkles around the eye area caused by the stress on the skin when removing waterproof products.

Summary:

What I LIKE:
- Waterproof
- Natural Finish
- Applicator is easy to use
- No clumps
- No smudging or flaking
- Easy to remove
- Locally available

What I'm okay with:
- Packaging
- Price

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Pulls down my lashes
- Takes time to completely dry after application

Would I repurchase?
I don't think so. I don't like that I have to re-curl my lashes since this pulls them down. I also hate the times that I thought it had dried on my lashes but when I blink and I get product under my eyes... Oh well, I've tried some mascaras in the same price range that works better on me.

What are your thoughts on the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara? Do you like this product? What is your favorite mascara brand?

Cheers,
DAWN

  1. I really love the name and the brush. I would love a mascara with a brush like that but it's a downside that the mascara is wetter and takes a while to dry!

    1. Yes. I could have loved it if it weren't like that.

  2. Upon seeing it, it seems like a good one to try out. But upon reading your thoughts about it....I guess I have to pass on it.
