Review : Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB

Hey loves!

Back when I attended the Holika Holika first branch opening in the Philippines at SM Fairview, there was one BB Cream that I wanted to try so much. I've read good reviews about it and some blogger friends I came with recommended it so I was so happy that Holika Holika Philippines sent me one for review. They actually asked for my skin type, my makeup and skin care preference, and the products I'd like to try before sending this. I guess this is a product that really suited me since they sent me this—and I agree! Let me tell you why through this review.

Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB
This 40ml bottle is sold for Php 755.00. You can buy this at their store or online at Lazada or Glamourbox.

I got the shade #2 Aqua Neutral. It's available in 2 shades—the other one is #1 Aqua Beige which is lighter.

The box has important labels such as product descriptions, ingredients lists, directions, and precautionary advice.
And as for the expiration date, it is labeled on the bottle.

More info from the website:

This product contains over 70% healthy aqua.  The moisturizing jelly texture on your skin is enriched with moisture, soaking into your skin and clarifying the skin, a new moisture technology BB cream. Jelly BB makes moist and bouncy jelly skin. Jelly texture spreads evenly and is perfect for covering up facial blemishes. This is a water based range of make-up. It is able to minimize pore size.

Benefits:

  • Moisturizing
  • Minimizes Pores
  • Good for Covering blemishes

How to Apply:
Take an appropriate amount and apply a small dab to your cheeks, forehead, and chin. With the tips of your fingers spread bb cream evenly throughout your face. To avoid bb cream from caking, let sit for 5 minutes before building bb cream up for more coverage, and before apply any loose powders to set it with.

The packaging is unique and cute. Although I really like it so much because of how it looks, I still prefer tube forms since I get the product out easily, especially when there's only a few left. Though I still have around 80% left on the one I have, I'm already worrying on how I will get the product out once it gets to around 10%. If you know any solutions to this, comment below (besides shaking it upside down or leaving it upside down when I am not using it—it gets too messy). And also, the bottle can be quite heavy so it's not something I'd bring with me.

I like that this has a spatula. Makes it a little easier to get the product out since the consistency of this is... well, jelly!

It also comes with an applicator. It's nothing too fancy—it's just like most sponges, but it's very useful when applying this BB Cream. I suggest you dampen it with water first. The BB Cream dries really fast when applied so having a damp applicator slows down the drying process giving you enough time to blend the BB perfectly. Having a wet sponge also prevents you from wasting too much BB cream since it will not suck too much of it.

Here's the BB on my hand. The shade is warm which is a big plus since I avoid BB's that are greyish or too pinkish. The scent is like a mix of being zesty and floral—I loooove how it smells. I know some people who do not like products with scents but if you still want to try this BB, do not worry, the scent is barely noticeable after a minute or two.

The product feels light—like you're not wearing much makeup at all. It's something I like about water-based products. Other than that, it's easy to blend provided you apply it fast or with a damp applicator.

Here's the product when blended.

AMAZING! It looks like it's airbrushed!
The coverage is medium and it's buildable if you want more coverage. It also covers pores well. The finish is matte which is something I favor because I have oily, acne-prone skin and having a super shiny face is something I try to avoid at all times.

See how it performs on my cheek:

It covers quite well except for the really dark acne marks. A good concealer can take care of that. :) It's a little lighter than my skin but I can top it off with powder that can even my skin out. The only problem is that the shade I have is the darkest and it can be a bit tricky for those with darker skin than I do.

And here are some selfie shots of me with Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB on.

Those were taken at the office with fluorescent lighting.
I really LOVE the finish. It is matte, covered my pores, and I still look natural! And since it's water-based, it has oil control... amazing oil control. I only needed to blot after 4-5 hours which is rare for me when I use BB Creams. Also, I haven't experienced any caking when I use this. I never encountered any breakouts nor irritations from the product too.

So to sum it all up,

What I LIKE:

- Good oil control
- Medium, buildable coverage
- Warm tone that matches my skin
- Affordable
- Locally available
- Feels light on skin
- has SPF 20 PA++
- Covers pores
- Easy to blend
- Matte finish
- Looks natural and airbrushed
- The scent
- Comes with a sponge applicator
- No skin irritations nor breakouts
- Long-lasting and no caking

What I DON'T LIKE:

- The bottle (it's heavy and it can be tricky to get the product out when there's few left)
- Only two shades available

Would I buy again?
I usually say I'd rather try other brands but I think this time I will say, I WILL! This is one of the BB Creams that I genuinely fell in-love with and that is saying something because up until now, I still prefer liquid foundations to BB Creams in any given day. This is an exception. I love how this works on me. :D

I recommend this to people with combination and oily skin. I believe you will like this BB as much as I do. ;)

I guess that's all I can say about Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB.
What do you think of this BB? Would you consider using this? Do you know other water-based BB creams that I can try?

Review : The Face Shop Clean Face Oil-free BB Cream

Hi lovelies!
Having oily skin is a bit, no, REALLY annoying especially since I love wearing makeup. Blotting is necessary every now and then and makeup, especially those with heavy coverage, makes my face more oily. I tried using water-based ones but it's not long-lasting or too expensive for me.
But now that my face is starting to clear up from the dark marks I got from pimples, I could use makeup with less coverage (though I still prefer heavy ones since I'm lazy to use concealer, haha). I'm currently experimenting on foundations and BB creams so I am willing to try out what I think is interesting, even if I haven't read any reviews about them which I usually do before.
I saw this BB cream some months ago and got curious about it since it is water-based and it smells so good, I bought it!
The Face Shop Clean Face Oil-free BB Cream
This is around Php765.00 in stores.
It has 35ml and has a life span of 1 year.
Oh, this is my first BB Cream from the brand! :)

Front and back pictures of the tube where you'll see a few descriptions of the product and its ingredients.

Description

A BB cream for bright and light make-up. Covers up skin troubles and freckles. Tested for sensitive skin.

Application

After toner & lotion, get adequate amount on the skin
For cleaner skin look,
Put sun block before BB cream
 For better protection of skin
Put BB cream before sun block
For better coverage
Put sun block , BB cream and foundation
This is for all skin types
Has Chamomile extract
Quick Clear Complex
New and improved Quick' Clear Complex treats oily or problem skin more quickly and effectively
This is a swatch of the product. It's kind of gray for my warm tones skin (I'm NC25).
It smells really good. Sort of a mild floral scent. I really like the smell.
It feels light on skin and it's so silky that it's so easy to blend. I feel like I didn't apply anything when I use it.
Here are my before and after pictures when I use it:

It made my skin a bit greyish. It has minimal coverage as well.
I'm not quite satisfied with the product alone. I have to use sun block (this BB Cream doesn't have SPF), concealer and a higher coverage powder foundation to have a better looking skin and get my complexion looking more natural.

This is a picture of my cheek after 6 hours of no retouching nor even blotting my face with an oil film. It's less oily than when I use a heavy coverage liquid foundation I normally use. Though I think I didn't use a good enough concealer here in this pic... haha! :P
I never experienced any skin irritation nor breakouts when I use this BB cream. :)
So to sum it all up:
LIKES:
Light, silky feeling
Easy to apply
Smells good
No skin irritation
No breakouts
Nice packaging
Locally available
Long-lasting
Oil-Free
DISLIKES:
Greyish tone
Super minimal coverage
No SPF
Comes in one shade only.
Would I buy again?
Probably not. I'm willing to try other BB Creams and I prefer those that are yellowish since my skin is yellow-toned. And I like my BB with SPF so I could skip the sun block part. Haha!
But I'm really impressed with how it feels and its scent though! It can be a really good primer. :)
Have you tried this BB Cream yet? How about other ones from The Face Shop?
Cheers!

Review: Lioele Water Drop BB

 Hiya folks!

I've had some requests to do reviews on BB creams.
I didn't bother buying BB creams when they became popular because I'm contented with the foundations I have. I like heavy-coverage foundies since I have a lot of acne scars to hide. :P

But since my skin is getting a bit clearer now, I had the courage to experiment with other makeup bases including BB creams.
One of the BB creams I bought is...

 Lioele Water Drop BB
I bought the mini one which costs Php250. The bigger one costs Php795.

Here's the description on the tube:

"It is an exclusive moisturizing BB cream which makes your skin moist since waterdrop, which is generated when you apply it to skin, is well absorbed into your skin."

(SPF 27 / PA++)

And here are more info from the website:

"Water Droplet Moisture Supply Provides natural Skin Glow, rather than by adding pearl. Simultaneous blocking of UVA and UVB, relieve Reddened Skin with its cool waterdroplet."

Why did I choose to buy this particular BB cream?
I have very oily skin. I guess water-based makeup is more advisable for me to use so might as well try one. I never bothered to buy water-based foundations before 'cause I find that these products have only light to medium coverage and I hate having to apply concealer on every dark spot on my face. But like I said, I'm willing to try out new things. :P

First thing I noticed when I opened the product is the cap.
There's this pointy thing that fits inside the opening of the tube to prevent the product from spilling. I likey! ♥

The opening of the tube is just right. Very easy to control to avoid getting too much of the product.

First time I saw the product, I thought it was kind of grayish but it blended on my skin pretty well. The product is very light on skin and quite easy to spread out because of the thin consistency. It also has a light to medium coverage.

Oh! It also has a pleasant smell. And the finish is not entirely matte but it doesn't have the spakles, pearly effect nor the dewy effect like some other BB creams. It's just very natural.

So this is my hand where I blended the product on. See? You barely see it.

And here's the product on paper
The right side is when it is blended.
Unlike oil based products, the paper absorbed it fast.

And here I applied it on my face:
It didn't help with the acne marks but it did lessen the redness on my skin

So with some help from my trusted concealer and finishing powder, I went out and see the staying power and oil control of the product.
My photo before I left the house...

I controlled the urge to retouch! Haha! Not even blotting.
 and 7 hours later...
Here's my face! A little shiny but usually, my face gets shiny all over after that long hours of no retouching.

So yeah, pretty decent oil control. I only felt my face getting oily at around 3-4 hours. Staying power is also decent provided that you don't sweat a lot.
I noticed that the product gets easily washed off. Maybe because it is water based. Whenever I brush my teeth, the product around my mouth and on the areas where water touched my face (even under my chin) gets removed. So better watch out and carry your umbrellas this rainy season when you use this product. Well, at least you won't have to wash your face over and over and over when you remove your makeup. :P

LIKES:

Affordable
Blends well on my skin
Available Locally
Has SPF 27
Light on skin
Pleasant Smell
Decent oil control
No caking
OK Lasting power as long as you don't sweat a lot
I like the cap with the pointy thingy inside (what do you call that anyway? Haha)

DISLIKES:

Not enough coverage for me
Easily removed with water so OH NO! It's the rainy season!

Will I buy again?
I like the product but I probably won't for now since I would like to try other products too. :P

So that's it for my review of this product!
