Jaclyn Smith Skincare Exfoliating Polish

Hey dears!

I'm almost done with this tube so before I finally run out of it, I'm sharing a quick review. :P

Jaclyn Smith Skincare Exfoliating Polish
I got it for free from Lazada a long time ago and I've only used it a few months back because I was finishing a different exfoliating product then.

Anyway, before I used this, I wasn't aware of the brand at all. I wasn't even familiar with Jaclyn Smith who turns out to be one of the actresses who played one of Charlie's Angels. I've already shared a press release about this and you can know more about the brand on that post. To keep it short and simple, this skincare range is a labor of love from Jaclyn Smith and her husband. She takes care of her skin with the right skincare routine and having a husband who's a doctor and understands chemistry, supported her to share this skin care to others. And together, they made the products possible so that more people can experience a skincare routine like hers.

This product is an exfoliating polish. Pretty much just like a scrub that I use twice to thrice (I have oily skin) a week to remove the dirt and dryer surface layer of my skin.

Here's a brief description of the product from the press release:

"Her collection includes the world-renowned, Jacklyn Smith Exfoliating Polish, an effective exfoliating cleanser with micro-abrasion beads, formulated to gently remove dry surface skin cells for immediate freshness and radiance..."

From Lazada's website:

Ingredients: Water, Pumice, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Cetyl Sulfate, Laureth-3, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Saccharum Officinalis (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance

Tips: Like any physical exfoliator this product should be used to gently "polish" the skin, not as a scrub. Although exfoliation is extremely beneficial at removing unwanted accumulation of dead surface skin cells to reveal a smoother fresher face, don't overdo it. Listen to your skin, if it is becoming red or irritated you are either "scrubbing" too hard, or exfoliating too often. Some people may need to exfoliate different parts of their face with different frequencies. For instance, if your face is a combination of dry and oily, you might exfoliate the dry areas once a week, whereas in your oily areas ("T" zone), you may exfoliate more frequently.

Here's the product.

And a closeup when slightly smudged

This is a cleanser with microbeads. It pretty much reminds me of a product from Kiehl's, but this one feels like it has bigger beads and creamier consistency. The scent is very mild and hardly noticeable when rinsed off.

My problem with this is that it doesn't show my the ingredients list. It's not in the tube, but good thing the website has it. I'm no expert in chemistry but in reading the list you can see that this product have micro beads that can be harmful to marine life because these passes through the filtration system and go to our oceans. It also contains alcohols and parabens that can be issues to some people.

During the months that I've used this, it didn't break me out, no irritations happened, and it did the job of keeping my face clean and removing dry flakes and dead skin. My face feels softer after rinsing. It's not the best I've tried but it does a satisfying job. It's still quite pricey for me though. :P

Have you tried the Jaclyn Smith Skincare Exfoliating Polish? What are your thoughts?

These are sample sachets and she recommends that I try them out. She really liked them and she thinks that I might like them too.

I trust my sister when it comes to skincare recommendations. We have almost the same skin type—oily and acne-prone. She likes to try out products and recommends the good ones. I can't try them all though because most of her current purchases are $$$$$ pricey! Haha! :P

    Ingredients

Water/Aqua/Eau, Lactic Acid, Polyethylene, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Pectin, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit, Lactobacillus Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Dehydroxanthan Gum, PEG-100 Stearate, Salicylic Acid, SD Alcohol 40-B, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Sorbic Acid, Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil, Honey (Mel), Acetic Acid, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Bromelain, Papain, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Phenoxyethanol, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Pogostemon Cablin Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Linalool, Limonene, Cinnamal, Beta-Carotene (CI 75130), Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex (CI 75810)
  • How To Use

AM or PM. Use once or twice a week. Apply a thin, even layer to a clean, wet face, massaging in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Leave on for up to 2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and gently pat dry.
PRECAUTIONS: This product increases circulation, which may cause the skin to flush slightly for a short time. For sensitive skin, leave on for less than one minute, or use ExfoliKate® Gentle instead.

    Kate's Tips

When you use ExfoliKate® in the shower, the steam will help to activate the enzymes, making it even more effective.

So I use this as instructed. I can't use the whole sample in one usage, maybe the 2ml sachet can last for 2-3 usages.

It smells ummm... herby? But the scent doesn't bother me. It looks like this slimy green thing but it has these super fine scrubs. When you massage it on the skin, the scrub is not too harsh but you can feel the gritty beads that help exfoliate the surface and dry areas of the face.

This is really effective in brightening and exfoliating my face! I can immediately feel my skin getting smoother after rinsing it off. I was amazed the first time I used it. There's a precaution that it can cause a flush on skin but I didn't get any of that, just soft and smooth skin. No irritations whatsoever!

I'm so happy my sister got me some samples. I really love the result that this product gave to my skin. My problem now is how the heck can I get my hands on a full-size product? It's just too expensive for my budget... but I guess a good skincare product is worth investing.

What do you think? Would you splurge for a good great exfoliator/mask?

Kiehl's Clearly Corrective White Skin Brightening Exfoliator

Hello loves!

I've recently been obsessing with skincare.
Since I'm almost in my mid 20's (turning 24 this month!), I HAVE to take skincare seriously.

I actually hated my skin. It's very oily and acne-prone. I'm always conscious of how I look when I go out without makeup because of all the blemishes I have. The acne doesn't stop on the face, I have some on my chest and at the back. Though they are not as worse as when I was in my teens, I still do not think that I can sport clothes that exposes my back area.

I've experimented with loads of skincare products. I've tried some that didn't help at all and I've discovered ones that are effective and has remained in my skincare routine ever since.

One of the skincare products that I've tried and loved is...

Kiehl's Clearly Corrective White Skin Brightening Exfoliator

I got this 25ml deluxe sample some months ago when we visited their Shangri La Plaza branch. I got this because I was one of the first visitors of the then newly opened branch.

This, on its regular size (125ml), is around Php 1,750.00 if I remember correctly.

Info from the website:

High-performance exfoliating cleanser
  • Effectively cleans and exfoliates pores to minimize skin irregularities & dullness for a noticeably brighter complexion
  • Helps boost skin's moisture level and maintain moisture balance
  • Leaves the skin refreshed, soft, smooth and clean
  • Use daily at night, after Clearly Corrective™ Purifying Foaming Cleanser and before toning
  • Paraben-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free, dermatologist-tested

The sample and the regular-sized one is in tube form. The consistency is quite thick. It's clear and has these tiny, fine beads.

It smells nice and clean too but its mild and is barely noticeable once you rinse. Not sure how I can describe it. It's not fruity but not floral... probably somewhere in between if there is such. :P

It foams up when you massage it. It feels so soft and silky but you can also feel the very fine beads. After I use the product, my face feels softer and smoother. My face also brightened! It's absolutely amazing! I fell in-love on my first try! Even my sister who visited from Australia last July loved this that she bought one when she got back to AU.

Anne, the SA who assisted us back then, said that this is safe to use daily. Since I have oily skin, I did use it daily. Though right now I lessened it down to at least 4x a week. I know Kiehl's products can be quite pricey but a little goes a long way for this particular one. You only need super little—smaller than a pea size! I still have a small amount left from this 25ml sample. I've been using this since June!

I soooooo LOVE this product. I will surely buy a new one—probably this month since I now have a Kiehl's membership card. I'll get double points when I purchase items within my birth month!

I recommend this to EVERYONE! Haha! But yeah, I think this is safe to almost every skin type but I guess the amount of times you use this varies depending to your type. :P But oh, if you have super sensitive skin or have some kind of skin condition, please do ask your dermatologist first.

Have you tried Kiehl's Clearly Corrective White Skin Brightening Exfoliator?
How about the other products from the product line?
