The Body Shop, Philippines Celebrates 19 years of Cruelty-Free Beauty

The Body Shop has always been a big name when it comes to beauty. 

Founded in 1976 by Dame Anita Roddick in Littlehampton, England, the beauty brand pioneered corporate activism and was built on a philosophy that business can be a force for good. With its brand expression, Beauty with Heart, the company continues to be focused on five core values; Against Animal Testing, Support Community Fair Trade, Activate Self Esteem, Defend Human Rights and Protect The Planet. All products are created using the finest ingredients sourced from the four corners of the globe, which are not tested on animals and are 100%. vegetarian.

I remember back when I was still a teen, my mom once treated herself with beauty products from The Body Shop. Our first TBS product, ever, was the three step nail buffer and the rest was history.

  

Now, after 19 years of being in business in the country and with over 55 stores in various locations around the Philippines, TBS is now a proud member of the SM Group of Companies. To mark this auspicious event, the brand has opened its first-ever Shop-in-Shop concept store in the newly renovated The SM Store Makati, making it more accessible to all beauty fanatics.

The brand is housed in a 22.5 sqm space, boasting the latest Pulse Shop-in-Shop concept design. Its size is bright and big enough to shop for your favorite products. 



With tables and accessible bays that are easy to browse, each showcases bestseller items and cult favorites from bath and body, down to make-up, skincare, & fragrance. Shopping for favorite products from the brand was made easy.

They then opened another same concepts store in The SM Store Mall of Asia, one which Dawn and I have yet to visit but according to TBS, is occupies a 15.4 sqm space right beside other beauty brands.

What would a celebration be without a big blow out right? That is why from May 1 to June 3, 2015, The Body Shop will be blowing away anniversary treats to everyone in celebration of its 19th birthday.

Yesterday, The Body Shop let us experience a shopping high and treated us with 3000 Php worth of gift cheques to spend.

Since The Body Shop is now 19, I thought it apt to bring along my 19 year old sister as Dawn's proxy for this blog event.

 

The treats are just to die for. They offer sales from the regulars - which we eagerly await all year - like the all time Filipina favorite Lip and Cheek Stain; 

 

to the newest but most craved items of the store - found in their top 10.



I got quite a good deal with 3 of the store's top 10... I wonder if some of my other favorite items are on other store's top 10. That'd make a pretty sweet deal won't it?

They also slashed 40% off on their BIG sized Bath Gels (750 ML) and Body Butter (400 ML)! Talk about stocking up on a lot of skin-love items. :) Yey!

Since Mother's Day is right around the corner, they even have a 50% off on selected gift packages for your Mom's Day gift shopping pleasure.







Aside from those above, they also have other items on sale like my favorite All-In-One BB cream and the popular face compact.



As well as their soaps which are now Php 95 (prev 195) and tube lip gloss now Php 150.



The other treats were pretty good too.

And of course, what's another thing we now have come to love about shopping? REWARD POINTS of course! The Body Shop now accepts SM Advantage Card for points earning and redemption. And for people like my mom, they also now accept SM and Sodexho premium pass in all their stores nationwide! Ain't that great?

I went a little overboard and spent over the gift cheque balance but it was well worth it for this haul! Even bought our mom something special for her day.

I'm so happy this shampoo was one of the top 10 of the store, I've had quite some problem with that and I'm excited to give this one a try. Will give you a review in a couple of weeks.

Someday by Justin Bieber Fragrance Launch

Hello lovelies!

 

Yesterday we were privileged enough to attend the launch of Someday by Justin Bieber. Nope, it's not his new album or single, and I think all the JB fans out there already knows about it. For those who aren't avid JB followers/fans, Someday is Justin Bieber's first fragrance for her.

 

The launch was held in SM Makati's Department Store. It was a modest event where fans and non fans alike were able to take photos with the Justin Bieber posters and sample the fragrance Someday.

 

It was attended by JB fans, celebrities, and also fellow bloggers.

Dawn and I were actually one of the first people at the event. The program started promptly with Maan and the other staff going about and explaining the fragrance and the concept behind it to everybody. So on to the scent. I have to be honest, at first I thought they were going to give out perfumes for men. I was some how amused that it was for women, and happy too since I won't have to give it to my brother. More goodies for me.

As I said earlier, Someday is his first fragrance for her and was launched in the USA in June 2011. It was a great success making a record-breaking number of sales after its launch. It became the biggest celebrity fragrance launch in history and sold over $3 million at Macy's alone within 3 weeks.

 

This fragrance boasts of a number of awards: "WWD Product of the Year" in the Prestige Fragrance category, Best in Class Marketing Award in Canada, The Fragrance Foundation's 2012 Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award (US), Best New Celebrity Fragrance (UK), and honors at the 2012 FiFi Fragrance Awards (a.k.a. the "Oscars" of the fragrance industry).

 

 

So what's in this fragrance?

Justin’s fragrance for her is an addictive fragrance that evokes a sense of sexy, modern sophistication. We're still currently in the process of testing this fragrance out but initial reaction... It's awesome! The smell is lovely, fresh, flirty and does not come off strong. The packaging is super pretty and chic you wouldn't even think it's fragrance by JB.
