Review: Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion and Vitamin C Serum Soothing Gel

Hello loves!

Quite recently I discovered the local skincare brand, Hello Glow. I'm happy to know that more and more local brands are popping up even during the pandemic and that they are launching more products (which are made in South Korea, btw) to help our skin look good and healthy.

A couple of weeks ago, I received two of their products—the Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion and Vitamin C Serum Soothing Gel. I've been using them for a while and here's my review of them.

First, the Hello Glow Triple Vitamin AHA Lotion (Php 150.00).

When I received this item, I was so excited about it as it has some of my favorite skincare ingredients, niacinamide and lactic acid! Niacinamide helps your skin stay firm and retain moisture while lactic acid is anti-aging and lightens dark spots. Other key ingredients are Vitamin A, which helps in skin healing and keeping it healthy, and Vitamin E which helps soothe skin and help keep it hydrated too.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist

Hi everyone!

I just want to talk about one of my life savers whenever I'm out for a long time and it's hot and my makeup needs refreshing...

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist

This was a gift for me from The Body Shop, Philippines a few of months ago and I've been carrying it in my bag ever since.

But let's get to know what this product is about from the labels at the back of the bottle:

And here are details from the website:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A quick skin pick-me up and excellent for setting make-up. Spritz it on for instant refreshment, moisture, and protection. With a delicate rosewater scent.

FULL INGREDIENTS
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Alchohol Denat., Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Methylparaben, Lecithin, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Water, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben.

How to Use
Close your eyes and hold the bottle 10 cm away from your face. Spray onto the face once or twice and allow to dry.

This is a spray bottle and I love the dispenser. When you spray it, it really feels like mist because the water is so fine and not like it spat the water on your face. It smells really nice too because the scent is rose and I love that scent very much!

I use this whenever it's hot and I wanna cool my face. I also use this to set my makeup. I usually top my face off with powder to prolong makeup and this softens the finish. This gets absorbed quickly and it leaves the skin moisturize for a while. But just to clarify, this doesn't prolong the makeup, it's not a makeup fixer.

I really like this product and I'm glad TBS introduced this to me. I think I will repurchase as soon as mine is out. I love this to bits!

Have you tried this yet? What is your favorite face mist?

Cheers,

Review : The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

Hi loves!

Don't you just love the cool feeling on your face after a long, tiring day? I enjoy washing my face or the wind touching my skin when I face a fan or the air conditioner. I just love feeling the cold wind when I feel tired. It just feels so good, especially during the hot days of Manila weather.

Nowadays, I get to experience this cool sensation whenever I use this product from The Body Shop:

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet
Php 995.00

This product was given to me by The Body Shop PH around a month ago and I've used it since.

Some details on the website:

An instant cooling sensation for all day hydration. This silky-soft moisturiser hydrates and refreshes skin with an ultra-light light formula.

quenches skin’s thirst
feels like a burst of freshness on skin
enriched with wheatgerm oil

How to Use:
Apply to face and neck after cleansing and toning using fingertips.

The jar is a thick, translucent frosted glass. It's quite heavy but it looks very pretty.

The scent is like a mixture of something sweet and floral-ish. It's subtle and very pleasant so I don't think this can be considered an issue to those who are bothered with scented products. The consistency is really like a sorbet but lighter and without the stickiness of the real thing.

It feels incredibly light on skin and it gets absorbed by the skin pretty fast. No need to wait too long for it to dry. You instantly feel the soothing cooling sensation too which will last a good 2-3 minutes. But try facing the air conditioner and you get that super cool and relaxing feeling! Super like!

This is supposed to be a day cream but I also use it at night. The amount of moisture this beautiful thing provides me is enough even when used as a night cream which usually has to be more intensive when it comes to moisturization.

I definitely recommend you to try The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet. It's the perfect for the Philippine weather, especially during the summer! :D

What are your thoughts on this product? Do you like products with cooling effects?

MYRA HOLISTIC SKIN CARE – BEAUTIFUL SKIN STARTS FROM WITHIN

Hey guys!

I received great news from Myra Philippines!

They have new brand ambassadors that embody that effortless glowing skin...

And they are no other than Ms. Judy Ann Santos and Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo.

I believe they are excellent choices because they just look great as they age! They just keep getting more beautiful as time pass by. They really know how to take good care of themselves and I'm sure many of us would love to know how they do it.
Some of the things we can do to achieve that glow from within were sent to me the other day by Myra which are as follows:

- Kor Water Bottle which is a popular hydration vessel used by stars like Oprah, David Bekham, Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow.
- Yummy Healthy at Home Recipe Book that gives instructions on how to create delicious, healthy dishes for our tummies.
- And of course, Myra 300E and 400E!

With all these plus a few more tips which I shall mention in a few, we can achieve a Myra Holistic Skin Care! Check out this press release to learn more about this campaign:
DISCOVER THE TRUTH BEHIND HOLISTIC SKIN CARE AS IT STARTS
TO GAIN POPULARITY IN THE SKIN CARE INDUSTRY!

HOLISTIC SKIN CARE – BEAUTIFUL SKIN STARTS FROM WITHIN

If you think your facial creams and lotions are doing enough to keep your skin look beautiful, think again. Recent studies now show that the real secret to healthy, young-looking and glowing skin has to start from within.

To get that effortless, “lit from within” glow, you have to complement your creams and lotions with a healthy lifestyle and way of life. Use this checklist as a guide to gauge whether you’re taking care of your skin from within—it’s truly the best way to keeping your skin healthy and beautiful:

✓ Sleep. Your entire body, including your skin, goes into repair mode while you snooze. Help your skin cells regenerate and your facial muscles relax by making sure you catch quality sleep. Still feel like you’re not getting enough rest when you wake up in the morning? One of the reasons could be that your alarm is rousing you in the middle of your deep-sleep stage. To make mornings less of a drag—or if you know you’re only catching a few hours of shuteye—try setting a wake-up time that’s a multiple of 90 minutes. This is the length of the average sleep cycle, so you’re sure to wake up to a beautiful morning.

✓ Exercise. Even though you know that a good work out is great for your heart, lungs, and mental outlook, chances are, you’re still not hitting the gym as much as you should. Here’s a little motivation that’ll inspire you to get moving: Regular exercise is also one of the keys to scoring healthy skin. By increasing blood flow, exercise helps nourish skin cells and keeps them vital. It also helps carry away waste products, including free radicals, from working cells. Think of it as a cleanse for your skin, but from the inside.

✓ Hydrate. Healthy skin is well-hydrated skin. If you want your complexion to glow, you need to make sure that you’re drinking enough H20 on a daily basis. Keep this Kor water bottle on your desk at work or in your car, and remember to sip often. Want to add a little flavor? Toss in a lemon wedge or a splash of fruit juice— it’s a great substitute for sugary sodas or iced teas.

✓ Eat Well. Did you know that the food you eat matters to your skin almost as much as it does to your waistline? This is because your skin uses vitamins and nutrients from food to repair and rebuild damaged skin cells. Make time to plan your meals daily with the help of this Yummy Light Meals recipe book, so you don’t end up going for unhealthy options or fast food.

Take Vitamin E. This is where the heart of Holistic Skin Care is. As you go about your usual work day, you get exposed to bad and uncontrollable free radicals that damage your cells. The result: tired-looking skin that looks dull, dry, and aging. Help your skin bounce back and recoup easily by adding a daily dose of Vitamin E to your diet. Since this vitamin isn’t produced by the body, taking a powerful Vitamin E supplement like Myra, can help. It’s rich in anti-oxidants to help boost your skin from within and also stops skin-damaging, free radicals from stealing life from your cells. The best part is, it also repairs damaged cells and works hard to protect the healthy ones. And with more healthy cells in your body, you’ll be able to have beautiful, glowing and younger-looking skin throughout the years to come.

When thinking of beautiful skin, always remember this formula:
your creams and lotions + a healthy lifestyle + healthy cells = healthy, youthful-looking, and glowing skin. Make sure that you take care of your skin from within with Myra Holistic Skin Care. Go ahead—take a Myra Capsule now!

My Current Facial Skincare Part 1 : Ciracle and The Body Shop

Hello everyone!

I've been investing on skincare lately since I am now in my mid 20's. I have not been very attentive to my skin when I was in my teens and... well... I was not gifted with flawless skin too. I have oily, acne-prone skin with enlarged pores.

Before, I was just satisfied with whatever I find "affordable" in the market that also looked interesting at the same time. I wasn't picky enough in what I apply on my skin. Of course I still follow the golden rule: Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize! But I just go for what I thought was good enough.

But one day I just thought that maybe I should stop spending so much on makeup alone and use my money for my skincare more. Better skin means you also look better without makeup on and it makes the face a great canvas when you apply some. And with better skin means lesser amount of concealer and foundation! Haha! Less is more in that case.

The year 2013 was the time that there was a drastic change on my skin. I'll be sharing 2 posts on the products that made a huge difference on the quality of my skin. The products come mainly from three brands—Ciracle, The Body Shop, and Kiehl's. But I also use facial masks from Nature Republic and Too Cool For School at least once a week. I can't give a very detailed review on each item since I use them simultaneously but I will be providing few thoughts on each and pictures of my skin to see how it changed during those times.

For the first part, I will share the products from...

Ciracle
and The Body Shop

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool and Creamy Wash (review here) and The Body Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub (review here)

Been using the Cool and Creamy wash (on my second tube now) since June and the scrub for 2 months (Sept-Nov) 'til I finished it. They are suited for people that have blemished skin. Tea tree is a good antibacterial and that is why I just love these. They take care of cleaning my face and removing dead skin without drying my face. I use the wash daily while the scrub around twice a week. Read my reviews on them to know more. I've provided the links above. :)

Ciracle Vitamin Source C-20
Php 1,290.00

This made me believe how Vitamin C is so good for the skin. My face feels so smooth when I use this. I felt it instantly when I woke up the next morning after the first time I applied it. One bottle lasted 6 months.

So here are the labels on the box:

And more info from the SG website:

Ciracle Vitamin Source C-20 contains the active ingredient L-ascorbic acid, a pure and high-quality form of Vitamin C, and powerful antioxidant. Used in many skin products for its skin rejuvenating properties, Vitamin C has the remarkable ability of bringing a brighter and healthier glow to the face. Each bottle of Vitamin C Source C-20 holds 6,000mg worth of Vitamin C which is equal to 40 oranges or 120 strawberries.

Properties of Ciracle Vitamin Source C-20
  • Assists in the removal of dead skin cells and blackheads
  • Controls blemishes and tightens pores
  • Revitalises the skin and promotes skin recovery
  • Whitens and brightens skin tone
  • Protects, softens and moisturises the skin
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • The serum comes with a syringe cap to enable precise measurements and effortless use of the product.
syringe cap

Directions
1. The initial product consists of an original cap and a separate syringe cap. To begin, unscrew and dispense of the original bottle cap and replace it with syringe cap.
2. Wash your face gently and then use a toner. Note: The serum may feel a little “gooey”. To lessen this, you can mix the serum with toner in your palm before applying it to the face.
3. Squeeze 2 - 3 drops of serum either directly on to your face or onto the back of your hand. Lightly pat it all around the face.
4. You can use an additional amount for any dark or saggy areas. Note: First time users may feel a tingling sensation. This is normal due to the pH adjustment of the skin.
5. Apply a moisturizer. You can also continue with your daily skin care routine.
8. Refrigerate the Vitamin C-20 serum for longer-lasting freshness.

Note from Ciracle
Because the product is highly concentrated with pure vitamin C, it is recommended to use the product as quickly as possible once opened. Vitamin C is sensitive to heat, light, and temperature. So always store it in the refrigerator even before opening the product. If you use the product during the day, remember to wear sunscreen lotion on your face since it will more likely be sensitive to sunlight after using the product. There may be residue or settlements and a change of colour present in the bottle; this is due to the high concentration of vitamin C and is perfectly normal.

Ciracle Pore Control Serum
Php 1,090.00

I actually bought this just because I was curious what Ciracle was about (I even got the Vitamin C serum for free). I'm glad I did because this really helped with my enlarged pores. You can see how on the photos at the bottom of this post. :) This lasted 6 months as well.

Labels on the box:

And more info from the main website:

I use it right after I apply the Vitamin C serum.

It also has a syringe cap.

It's clear and is absorbed pretty quickly by the skin when applied.

and the last product from Ciracle is...
Ciracle Vitamin E5 Cream
Php 1,290.00

This was a gift from Ciracle last August. How happy was I to get this because this became my daily moisturizer. It works so well with the Vitamin C serum. Using this since August. I still have 1/3 of the product left.

Labels on the box:

More info from the SG website:

Ciracle Vitamin E5 Cream is used to help soothe the skin and protect it from external environmental factors like pollution, oxidation and damaging UV rays. Ciracle’s formula contains 5% vitamin E to protect the skin from oxidation, a major factor in visible skin ageing and dullness. It also helps to improve moisture in the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars and brown spots.

Properties of Vitamin E5 Cream
  • Promotes moisture and skin whitening effect
  • Provides skin protection and prevents skin damage
  • Improves moisture and oil in the skin
  • Maintains skin youthfulness with antioxidant ingredients
Directions
1. Use twice a day, morning and evening, after cleansing the face and applying toner or essence.
2. Pat gently over the whole face or dry spot area.
3. For best results, use Vitamin E after applying Vitamin C-20 Serum.
Note from Ciracle
This is an effective product for those with dry skin and works well when used before applying makeup.

I'll be posting the directions on how I use all these products together along with the products that I use from Kiehl's on the 2nd part of the post.

But just to let you see how my skin improved, check out these photos of my cheeks during the different months of 2013.

Taken March 2013
Enlarged pores, some zits and many dark scars from acne. This pretty much how my skin looked like since I reached puberty.

Somewhere around April or May 2013
It's getting a little better by this time. It was the time I got addicted to facials masks. Haha!  But the acne still has redness and I still have enlarged pores.

Taken August 2013
Been using the 2 Ciracle serums for two months by this time and one month using TBS Cool and Creamy Wash. And also started using my 1st Kiehl's product, Clearly Corrective White Skin Brightening Exfoliator, for two months as well.

Taken October 2013

Taken December 2013
This one was taken in a different lighting though. The others were taken in front of my dressing table. But check out the size of the pores throughout the months of using the products. The skin looks healthier and well-moisturized now and it feels softer too.

So I'll be ending this post for now since it's getting quite lengthy. I'll be sharing the other products in my skincare routine as well as how I use them on the 2nd part of this post so I do hope you stay tuned! :D

Colour Collection Vitamin E Sheer Lipstick in Pinkish Nude

Hello guys!

Just sharing this lippie I got from Sample Room using the points I accumulated.

Colour Collection Vitamin E Sheer Lipstick

The shade I got is Pinkish Nude.
I wanted to get this because I want to get that perfect pinkish nude shade which I actually found in 2 lippies I have shared before (click here and here to find out what they are).

More info about the product from Sample Room's website:

Keep your lips healthy and kissable with Colour Collection’s Vitamin E Lipsticks, a range of lipsticks that are formulated with Vitamin E, making your lips still look moisturized and supple even long after the color wears off. It also has sunscreen that protects your lips from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
Tupperware Brands’ premier cosmetic line presents these specially enriched glam lipsticks with Vitamin E -- widely known for its capability to speed up cell regeneration and retain natural moisture content of the skin.
By helping you maintain smooth, sensuous and vibrant lips, Colour Collection's Vitamin E Lipstick puts the glamorous finishing touch to your look with over 15 passionate shades and 3 types of finishes – matte, satin and sheer.
Full size: 4g
Price: PHP 330
Sample Size: 1 pc. 4g (full-sized)

The packaging is the usual classy black tube. I don't really have much to say about it since it's getting pretty common. :P

Here's a closeup of the product.

It's really creamy that it gets melted quickly when left in a pretty warm place. My lipstick bullet broke because my room was... errr... too warm for it I guess. :(

Swatch on paper

Swatch on arm

On my lips

I find this lipstick too creamy for me. It usually piles up on the lines of my lips which looks very unattractive. If you have dry lips, then it will make the chappy area very visible too.

What I do is I blot it a few times so that it looks subtler just like on the photo above. It looks more decent that way in my opinion.

The shade is actually nice but not a fan of the consistency. Still willing to try other lippies from Colour Collection but I will probably stir away from their sheer collection. :P

So what are your thoughts on this lipstick? Have you tried any lipstick from the brand? If yes, which shade? :)

Cheers,
