Affordable at only Php 165 for each eyeshadow, and Php280 each for the highlighter. Oh, and don’t forget to use our new all-organic eye primer Virginia Olsen’s Eye Prime (Php499) to add vibrancy and intensity on your lids! These products will be available in the Philippines this July 2014 in www.virginiaolsen.com, www.lazada.com.ph, and The Ramp Crossings, Shangrila Plaza.

And they also sent me these awesome products from the latest collection!

Three of them are eyeshadows while Innocence is a highlighter, which I also use as an eyeshadow!

As always, Virginia Olsen Eyeshadows are very pigmented. I knew right away what to expect and what looks I can do using the shades they sent me.

As you can see on the swatches above, I wasn't disappointed. All four shades are super pigmented! Kikay artist in me is very happy!

And of course I have to play with my new toys! Here's the first look I made using the colors Straight Up, Cloud, Grape Vine, and Innocence...

I used Innocence on top of my cheeks and also as an eyeshadow.

Below are closeup pictures of my eye makeup.

Sorry for the untidy eyebrows. I made the look a couple of days after I got back from US and I didn't groom my brows during the 3 weeks I was there. Hehe. :P

So on the inner corners, I used Cloud. At the middle is Straight Up. I used Grape Vine at the outer corners and lastly, Innocence at the top of Grape Vine. :P

So what do you think of this EOTD? I managed to play with all four colors and the look reminds me of the time when it's almost evening and the sky is a combination of pink, purple, blue and black with lots of stars...

And before I end this post, I'd also like to share this new product from Virginia Olsen. I haven't tried it yet but you may find it interesting too...

Eye Prime has a powdery gel consistency, so a little goes a long way. Simply apply a thin layer over eyelid and smoothen it on your skin. Once it has dried, you will feel a smooth and even surface that makes application of eyeshadow a breeze. Our Virginia Olsen Eye Prime works best with loose pigments such as Virginia Olsen mineral eyeshadows. This organic primer acts as a base to which the pigments, glitters, or shadows will adhere into.
Eye Prime retails at Php499 and will soon be available at www.virginiaolsen.com.

And that's all for now! I'll post more looks using these new shades soon! Happy Sunday everyone!

What do you think of the new collection? Which color is your favorite?

Cheers,

EOTD : Royal Treatment

Hey babes!

I woke up earlier than usual this morning and decided to use my extra minutes before going to work by taking some pictures of my eye makeup today.

*excuse my unkempt brows... I have full bangs and hide them so I can get away with being lazy! HAHA! I promise to groom it tomorrow! :P

So what's with the name?
I thought of "Royal Treatment" because the colors I used, purple and gold, are usually associated with royalty.

So here are the products I used for the look:
Coffret D'Or Gel Eyeliner
Holika Holika Jewel-Light Waterproof Eyeliner in #5
I also used Sephora Eyeshadow in Starry Sky on the outer corners of my eyes. I forgot to add it on the pic. :P

I guess this color scheme is one of my favorites. I think I've done this look many times now but with different brands of eyeshadows.

L.A. Colors Face Loose Powder in Light to set it.
For my blush I used San San Blush-On in 01 and for my lips, NARS Lipstick in Rebel and topped it off with NYX Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa.

So that's all for today! Hope you like this look! :D

Cheers,

EOTD : Summer Bloom

Hey beauties!

Remember the makeup goodies I took home from a Virginia Olsen event? Well, I wanted to use three of their newest eyeshadow shades in my eye makeup for the day.

Here are the shades:

Puppy Love, Midnight Glam and Prom Night.

These are from their 2013 summer collection. You could view the other shades of the collection here.

I also used one from their existing collection, Baby Roses.

I just think this is such a pretty shade! It's like something a fairy princess would wear!! :D

Here are the swatches of the eyeshadows that will be used for this EOTD.

I chose to have a light and wearable look for this EOTD since I'll just be at work. I decided to have something cute and feminine but I really wanted to use a lot of Midnight Glam since it is my favorite. I guess it's just too dark so I'll most probably make a different EOTD with that shade next time.

I took shots of the steps I did for this EOTD. It was my first time doing eye makeup with mineral eyeshadows so I guess I'll leave it to you to judge if I did good or not. Haha. :P

After applying primer (I used NYX HD Eyeshadow Base) to my lids...

Apply Puppy Love on the majority of the lids from the inner corners to a little bit over the mid part.

Apply Prom Night at the outer areas of the lids.

I added Baby Roses on the inner corners of my eyes and on the inner areas of my lower lashes. Also add some more Prom Night at the outer areas of the lower lashes.

I also added a very little amount of Midnight Glam in the sockets of my eyes. I guess it is barely noticeable since I just wanted to my eyes appear a little more deep set.
I also applied a black gel liner with a soft flick and a white matte eyeliner on my water line.

Just add mascara and some more cleaning and blending to finish the eye makeup.

Here's what the EOTD looked...

I guess I did achieve the feminine and wearable look for work, do you agree?

It was quite hard to manipulate the mineral eyeshadows since it tends to fall off from my makeup brush. Make sure to use a tissue and place it under the eyes so that the pigments won't fall on your cheek. I also realized that mineral eyeshadow doesn't work well on top of another mineral eyeshadow... or maybe I was just doing something wrong. If you're an expert on this, please do teach me! :P

My eye makeup isn't all done yet! I decided to put some false lashes to add more drama...

And that's my whole look!

I used a soft pink blush and lipgloss to create a refreshing and 'blooming' face.

And oh, I also used Virginia Olsen's Bronzer Wood Matte for contour. :)

Anyway, here's a closer look at my final EOTD:

But my bangs kind of hid the eyeshadow... :|

Oh well. But it's nice to see the pop of purple whenever I blink or close my eyes.
The mineral eyeshadows were fun to use and I'll be practicing and playing with them more. I have other shades in my stash and I plan to do more looks with them. So far, I like the pigmentation but for staying power, it tends to crease after some hours on my oily lids. :P

Anyway, what do you think of my EOTD?
Did I do good on my first try on mineral eye makeup?
I would appreciate if you could recommend ways on how to effectively apply mineral eyeshadows and how to prolong their staying power.

Cheers!

2013 Virginia Olsen Brushes

Hey everyone!

Looking for hypoallergenic, vegan, eco-friendly and cruelty free makeup brushes?
Then I know just what you need!

Introducing the 2013 Virginia Olsen Brushes!!!

A few days ago, I attended the 2013 summer products launch of Victoria Olsen and there I was able to try their 2013 brush sets for the first time.

Top to bottom – Precision Pencil brush, Short Shader brush, Angled Eye Contour brush, Flat Top brush, and Sculpting brush.

"Virginia Olsen not only offers quality mineral makeup, but we also have Beauty Tools that complement our natural mineral cosmetics. In addition to our seven existing brushes – Total Face brush, Kabuki brush, Contour/Blush brush, Eyeshadow brush, Blending brush, Concealer brush and Angled Eyeliner/Brow brush – we are excited to unveil five more to our collection
this year! "

For this post, I shall share with you each brushes and their respective descriptions from their press release. I also have a few comments on the two brushes they included in my press kit namely the sculpting brush and the short shader brush.

ANGLED EYE CONTOUR BRUSH– Php 350.00
This soft and smooth brush has a long, round and
tapered bristles for shading and contouring. The angled
design is just the right size to make a sideways "v" at
the outside corner of the eye lid.Just gently follow the
natural crease of the socket blending back and forth to
build up depth of color.

FLAT TOP BRUSH– Php 500.00
This face brush is ideal for buffing and blending color.
The flat, round and feathery head provides lightweight
and buildable yet seamless coverage that complements
our mineral makeup. Just apply the powder using short
buffing strokes from the face to the jaw line

PRECISION PENCIL BRUSH– Php 300.00
The soft, smooth and synthetic bristles are shaped into a
unique pencil/bullet shaped tip for precise makeup
application. It is designed to fit into the crease of the eye
and to result in a perfectly blended shadow, as well as
for applying color along the lash line or the lid. This is the
right tool for blending eyeliner into eyeshadow to create
smokey eye looks.

SCULPTING BRUSH– Php 450.00
This brush is designed for contouring your cheek
bones and jawline for that slimmer and younger
looking face. It is ideal for controlled application of
highlighting, brightening and bronzing powders.
Simply sweep powder or bronzer on your face and
create a buildable coverage to add definition to your
facial structure.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE!
The shape is unique and it really makes contouring so easy! My bronzer never looked as good and natural!

SHORT SHADER BRUSH– Php 300.00
This extremely versatile flat brush simplifies application
of eye makeup. It can be used for applying a spot of
color onto small areas of the eye such as the outer
eyelid or for smudging on the lower lash line. The short
and precise flat head yields a more concentrated color
application.

This works really well with the eyeshadows I got from the event. It gets the pigment well and leaves a pretty bold color upon application!

These brushes are made from premium-grade materials, which can be used with wet or dry products. The synthetic Japanese-grade Taklon bristles are hypo-allergenic and safe for delicate complexions. The sleek ferrules are made from recycled aluminum. The natural bamboo handle has a low impact on the Earth’s resources as it is a highly sustainable plant. Each professional length brush is created for precision and has been designed with the right density to create flawless, natural finish in every makeup application.

All brushes are eco-friendly, cruelty free and vegan, so no animals were harmed. They are
available by set to get better value (discounted at Php 1,500.00) or you can also get them

I agree with most of what's in this press release!
The brushes are so soft!!! I can't take my hands off of them! I enjoyed doing my usual makeup application with the two new brushes I have. These are certainly a must-try! And what's great is that they are on a huge discount! :D

Have you tried any of Virginia Olsen's makeup brushes?
Which of them do you find most interesting?
