My Surprise Birthday Gift from HBC

Hello loves!

Yesterday I went to HBC, Trinoma to pick up a package containing things that I can't tell you just yet. And upon opening the big, heavy paper bag, I found a surprise!!

And when I left the store, I took home all these!

The surprise was this:

A 1k gift certificate to HBC's beauty section! Cool, huh?? I didn't expect this and I was already thinking of buying stuff from the store. I was so happy to see this inside the package since I get to go crazy shopping for new kikay stuff for my birthday!

I bought all these! I actually bought more stuff than I should. These cost more than 1k. Haha! Everything here are items from HBC that I have never used before so I'm very excited to try them. :D

Super thanks, Lorie and the rest of the HBC team! You've been very sweet since the first time we've collaborated. I super appreciate all the support you've given me and our blog. Thanks for the gift and for remembering my birthday (my birthdate is on the 25th)! :D

And for this mysterious package, I'll blog about what this is all about on Sunday! ;)

Cheers,

Dawn Gets a Lighter Hair Color

 Hey everyone!

Happy Sunday!

I'm currently trying to pamper myself to somehow reduce my stress from work. Unfortunately for me, nothing is working. I've tried everything that makes me feel good like watching art related documentaries, movies, even drawing. *sigh*
Anyway, just so I can think of something else for a short while, I'll be writing a post that should have been published weeks ago and I keep forgetting to upload the pictures.

2 weeks ago, I colored my hair. I did it by myself. Haha! I don't know what got into me and that I was brave enough to do this on my own. I just wanted a change.
Of course I was scared that it might not be colored evenly or it might not look good on me at all. But I just wanted something different so badly. Haha!

I used my trustworthy Hortaleza Professional Hair Colouring Set (Yes, I have a big bottle of Oxidizing Lotion... a gift from my college barkada since I always color their hair. Haha!).
The color I used is Golden Blonde.
If you wanna know how we color our hair using these items, click here.

And thank heavens, it turned out well on me!
See a before and after photo of my hair.

From my black hair to a lighter warm brown shade.
Both pictures taken with artificial lighting.

I would have gotten a better photo under natural light but I barely get out of the house or office during daylight so we will just have to settle with this picture.

 Direct sunlight from my window.
And below are pictures taken inside the car around 4pm.

You could still see the color! Yayyy!

My friends and officemates really love the color! I do too! ♥
I wanna try making this in ombre. Will have to watch some tutorials about bleaching and stuff. Hopefully it turns out well too... if not, I could always cut my hair. Haha! I have to cut it anyway since my perm at the bottom is starting to dry up. It has been permed for more than a year now. :P

That's all... off to whatever it is I have to do... Ugh. :/

Cheers!

Hortaleza Professional Hair Spa Treatment

 Hello everyone!

Crazy weather we've been having lately, huh? One day it's so hot then the next there's flood outside your house! Haha!

Anyway, since I have all the time in the world right now (unlike Liz who can't even sleep because of all the exams she has for this week), I would like to share with your the stuff that I've been using this whole month of July on my hair.

I really have to start taking care of my hair. I usually just use shampoo and conditioner everyday and nothing else yet I do harmful stuff to it like getting it permed, colored and use different products on it to style it. Not to mention the glaring sun that my hair has to endure when I go outside (I don't wear hats or caps nor do I usually bring an umbrella). See what my hair goes through?? And of course these things gave my hair problems. It got dry and I also suffer from falling hair. Boohoo. :(

So off I went to the mall and looked for something that can help my hair. I have limited budget since I don't have work nor allowance right now so I can't go to a salon for treatment.

I stopped by HBC, because it's one place to get affordable items that I know works for me since I've been using their products for years now. There were so many products to choose from. There were hot oil treatments with henna and some have Coco milk or Black Pelan. So I asked for their best treatment for my hair and the SA (I forgot her name, sorry!) recommended this!

Product description, Directions for use, Ingredients and Precautionary advice are located at the back of the container.

I bought the big tub. It's 500g and it costs between Php200-300. Quite affordable, right??

I've been using the product once a week for 4 weeks now.
I follow the instructions and place it under a heating cap which my sis, Tracy, bought years ago (Yayyy! It still works! But I don't know where she bought it). The product smells nice and  has a cooling effect on your scalp when applied which is kind of relaxing for me.
The results are very good. I don't think it made my hair uber gorgeous in the 4 weeks I've been using it but it really moisturized it and gave it more volume especially right after you rinse it off and dried it.

My hair now - moisturized and volumized!

So this is a pretty good product since it delivers and is very budget friendly. I'd recommend it to people who would like to pamper their hair, especially those who suffer from damaged hair, and who's also looking for something affordable! And if you just wanna try them out but don't want a big tub, they have it in 20g sachets! :)

So have you tried this out yet?
Do you use intensive hair treatment at home too?
Any recommendation of other brands I can try?

Cheers!

Week 2 WINNERS of HBC's 8 Ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas

Hello again!

Week 2 of HBC's
8 Ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas has officially ended.

I've read all the entries answering the question:
If you were to dye your hair with an outrageous color (e.g. violet, blue, pink, etc.), what will it be and why?

If I had to answer that question, I would say I'd dye my hair Maroon!
I think it's sexy and bold. Makes you feel confident and smart. Plus, one of my favorite bands is Maroon 5! :P
I'll just have to be braver for me to sport that hair color.  LOL

But anyway,
Without further ado...

The winners for the 2nd week of the giveaway is...

Leilani Sonza and Encey Javahery!

Congratulations, girls!

I've left you messages in you Facebook and in your Email. I hope you could respond within 24 hours. :)

Here's what our winners answered:

Leilani:
I would choose violet :) Not only coz this is my favorite color..but it actually complements a lot of colors in my wardrobe and lipsticks hehehe...I am actually wearing an aubergine color right now :)

Encey:
if i would dye my hair i would want it to be pink and orange. i want to be different and feel confident about my hair. its also good to explore our life especially now that i am a teenager this is the time to do anything we want and to stand out from others. :)

Well,
that's it for the Week 2 of HBC's 8 Ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas!

Anna and Renz Color Their Hair Reddish Brown (DIY)

Last week, the first day of our second semester of our final year as college students (hopefully) started. And since it was the first day, it's almost always certain that classes won't take long either because the prof wouldn't be present or because the prof will only introduce himself and the course and the instructions for next week (we rarely start classes the first day).

Anyway, since we had so much time, I invited my friends over to my house since I live close by. I wanted to do makeovers on them.

BUT I remembered something I got from the Great 88! Sale of Hbc that I haven't used -- Some tubes of Hortaleza Professional Hair Coloring Cream!

I don't think I would be able to use it soon since I just colored my hair recently and then got it permed. It's a risk to use chemicals on it again cuz it may lead to hair damage. No one wants that! :P
So I asked my friends, Anna and Renz, if they wanted to try coloring their hair.
They quickly agreed to my offer. No hesitations, no questions asked. =>

Here's Renz and Anna before I colored their hair

Anna never used any chemicals on her hair. We called her hair, "virgin." Haha! She never had it colored, rebonded or even relaxed!

Renz has rebonded her hair for a couple of times. Her hair strands are thicker than Anna's too.

Here are the materials we used:

2 tubes of Hortaleza Professional Hair Coloring Cream in Reddish Brown
2 Bottles of Oxidizing Lotion 9%
A container for mixing
A tool for applying the Cream
Gloves
Big Hair clips/clamps
Dark/old shirts they can use to avoid staining their uniforms :P

We already made a more detailed review in an older post with instructions too!. :)

I didn't bleach their hair because they didn't want the change in their color too drastic.

Anna went first and then Renz. We waited for 30-40 minutes for each.

After rinsing, conditioning and drying, here's what they looked like after on fluorescent lighting.

We probably should have waited longer before we rinsed the solution on Renz's hair since she did have thicker strands of hair. But still, you can see the reddish brown shine on her hair when the light touches it.

Anna's hair really absorbed the color. It's really reddish brown now! The pic is taken in my room next to the window. I really think it suits her!

And here's Anna's hair outside under the sunlight.

And here are the girls with Neysa and Bel at our classroom. You can see the reddish brown shine on Anna and Renz's hair compared to the Jet Black hair of Neysa and Bel.

And here are some solo shots of the girls under fluorescent lighting next to a window (the camera was set on warm lighting too).

Here's Renz smiling pretty! :)

And Anna with her wavy curls from my curling iron and her award-winning pout! :)

If you're interested in coloring your hair, the Hortaleza Professional Coloring Cream and Oxidizing Lotion are available in HBC stores. It's very cheap compared to other DIY hair coloring creams.
But if you want to play it safe, try out their HP (Hair + Perfection) Color Hairspa!
It's also available in HBC Stores but you can GET IT FREE if you win this week's HBC's 8 ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas Giveaway!

And if you're thinking of going to their stores, now is a great time!
They will be having this promo starting today til the rest of November, 2011!
So visit their stores soon!

HBC's 8 ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas: Week 2

 Hi Girls!

Besides having frizz-and-tangle-free, healthy hair, color also adds a great touch in achieving a great-looking hair.

As you've read some of our previous posts, we're obviously fond of dying our hair whether from a salon or at home using DIY hair colors.
My sis loves it very visible even indoors while I like my hair still dark with only a touch of brown or red or sometimes purple.

If you like to play it safe for now, then you will definitely love the next giveaway from HBC!

This week's featured product will add a colorful sheen on your crowning glory this Christmas season!

Healthy, flowing locks with a subtle touch of color. A week of great hair starts right here.

Oprah Winfrey said, “the right hair color can transform your looks - enliven your skin tone, cover grays, and add sparkle to your eyes.” But for those who don’t have the luxury of time to visit the salon to have this done, a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) treatment is a sure hit.

Not ready to take the full color plunge?
Ease into the perfect hue with HP (Hair+ Perfection) Color HairSpa.
Combining the benefits of cellophane and hairspa treatment in one, the HP Colour HairSpa leaves a reflect of color and helps repair dull and damaged hair, recharging it with new strength and elasticity.

Take home these tubs by answering this week’s question:

If you were to dye your hair with an outrageous color (e.g. violet, blue, pink, etc.), what will it be and why?

HBC's Happy Beautiful Christmas: Week 1 WINNERS

Hey everyone!

Today I will be announcing the first set of winners for HBC's 8 Ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas (week1)!

Last week's featured products were all for our crowning glory.
The winners will win those products from HBC in the picture above! Yay for beautiful and fabulous hair!

But first, I'd like to thank all the people who joined this giveaway. I know that I was late in posting about this event compared to other bloggers who are hosting it as well. But I'm so glad that you people still joined and shared your thoughts and experiences with me and my readers. :D

Anyway,
I will not keep you waiting any longer...

The Winners are...

France Navarro and Neysa Saguid!!!

Congratulations, girls!

Your entries were a delight to read. I think most girls would relate to what you've experienced and the way you fixed those nightmares were both practical and easy to do. And as Neysa said, great looking hair boosts your confidence!
So enjoy your prizes, girls! Flaunt your fab hair and be proud of your crowning glory!

And to review their entries in the question:

Share with us what great looking hair is for you, your most unforgettable hair nightmare and what you did to turn it around.

Here are their answers:

France's Answer:

Great hair for me is super soft to the touch and shiny

My unforgettable hair nightmare was during high school. I had my hair up in a high ponytail all the time so my hair developed a habit of having on odd wave. Since then, it's been frizzy and wavy. Now that I've graduated college, I've grown all the frizzy hair and maintain it with hair serum and deep-moisturizing hair spas.

Neysa's Answer:

Great hair for me is the one that reveals one's awesome features. the right cut, color, shine, or even the bounce of our hair definitely adds instant confidence!

My worst hair experience was also my greatest. I remember having a long break at school, I decided to have my hair cut short and went to a small parlor down the street near our school. For 50php my hair was cut and blowdried into a short bob with short bangs. It was a disaster! the bangs was too short for my forehead and the chic bob that i was going for wasn't chic at all. I looked like EDNA from Pixar's Incredibles--less cute. After 3 days i got my hair rebonded and cut shorter. It was the best haircut i had ever had! I am still sporting that short haired look without the rebond, and i love it, with a little wave here and there, i find my hair unique and only me. And i know with a little shine, color and health boost(hair spa) my hair will definitely jump to that next level!:)

Congratulations again,
France and Neysa!

(I've left you messages in your Facebook and Email. I hope you can respond within 48 hours)

Week 2 of the 8 Ways to a Happy Beautiful Christmas Event will be posted soon.
I hope you all can join again! And I'm also encouraging other readers to join too! :D
Have a Happy Beautiful Christmas, everyone!

Review: Body Recipe Hair Remover Cream and Liz Colors Her Hair w/ Hortaleza Hair Coloring Cream

Today's post is all about hair -- from your crowning glory to those annoying ones you just have to get rid of.

I never really liked shaving because hair gets thicker and I feel like my skin is rougher. I usually wax my legs with Veet Wax Strips every 3 or 4 weeks. I've also tried their cream products before. Although I'm quite satisfied with Veet products, I'm still willing to experiment with other brands as well.

So during HBC's Great 88! Sale, I saw this product and wanted to try it out. I got it for Php88.00 but it's regular price is Php105.00

Body Recipe Hair Remover Cream with Shea Butter and Olive

It comes with a plastic spatula too! Very handy for application purposes. :)

 Information about the product

Directions for use, Precautionary advice and it's Ingredients

What I like about it:

Hair is removed easily
Compared to Veet, the scent isn't as strong
I didn't get any irritation (I have sensitive skin)
I like the plastic tube container for some weird reason. haha.
Available in all HBC stores

What I don't like about it:

It only comes in 50g so buying two will cost you Php210.00 in its regular price, while Veet has 100g which costs Php199.00 in SM Supermarket or Watsons.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the products performance. But I will still stick to waxing. A lot painful but hair grows finer and I'll only have to do it once a month!

The next part of this post is about Liz getting her haired recolored.

Liz has been coloring her hair for around 3-4 times now. And as you can see in the two pictures that her hair has grown and needs retouching.
She has used Kolours and Garnier Hair Colors before and now she's gonna use Hortaleza Hair Coloring Cream for the first time. My sister,Tracy, and I have been using this for a number of times.

Liz chose Deep Hazel Brown for her hair. (Ignore the 5 peso coin at the side. Haha!)
She only used 1 tube and 1 oxidizing lotion for her hair length. The extra one is for me for future use. :P

You buy the cream and the oxidizing Lotion seperately. And it doesn't come with gloves, container or conditioner so don't forget to get those when you plan on using this product.

For steps and some tips on how to apply this, read our review of this product here.

Here's Liz trying to apply this by herself. Haha. Eventually she gave up and I took over. :P

*Since it's only retouching, apply on the part that is uncolored first then just apply on the rest after.
Here's what her hair looks like after application. One is with natural lighting and the other one is when the sunlight hits her hair.

Liz is very pleased with results and really loves the color and it only cost her Php128.00 (since we got the cream from the Great 88 Sale as well plus Php30.00 for the oxidizing lotion)!

Cheers,
DAWN

My "Great at 88!" Experience ♥

Hi Ladies!
Today, I was given this generous opportunity by HBC to get so many of their products -- from skin care, hair care to cosmetics! We've been using a lot of their products lately and we are really loving them. So I was really excited for this day.

I was invited to go to their branch at SM San Lazaro wherein I can get some of the products included in their "Great at 88" Sale. Every product is worth only Php88.00! That's right! Very affordable! I was able to take home so much!!

I took some pictures of my experience:

HBC SM San Lazaro Branch :)

I went with my best friend, Liz. See how happy she is? She's carrying some of the bags that contained the products I got!

Here are the products included in the Great at 88! Sale. You'll indeed shine through the rain with these different products like hair dyes, hair care, skin care and whitening (Body Recipe), and makeup (San San and Allue).

Me with Heidi. She assisted me during the whole time I was browsing around. She's very accommodating which made it easier for me to decide which products to take. :)

And here are the stuff I got!!! Yaaay!  :D
I immediately opened some of the products and I sure am happy with them! Can't wait to try everything else! Some of these we've used before so I'm just repurchasing (like the Hortaleza Professional Hair Colouring Cream) while the others are things that I've not used before. Can't wait to test them out, especially the Skin Lightening Powder!

I got 3 of their San San Age Defense 2-way Cake Powder Foundation in 01 and 02 (which I think is such a great deal since it's almost slashed to half it's original price), 2 San San Pressed Powders in 01, a San San Concealer in Olive and San San Lipstick in Pink Pout (which I think will be one of my most used lipsticks for now, I just love the shade).

I got an amazing batch of their Body Recipe products. Heidi said to try out the Body Whitening Powder so I took all the scents available! My sister really loves their Body Scrub too and the Milk lotion smells fantastic!

And of course I got their Hair Colouring Cream. We've been using them since we first tried it out! :) If you plan on buying these as well, don't forget to purchase their oxidizing Lotion! :) Also got their Shampoo and Conditioner in Apple.

I was really blown away on how much I got to take home! Actually, I still am! All of these only cost around Php2,000.00. It's an amazing deal so why not go visit the HBC store nearest you and experience for yourself this really GREAT sale! The "Great at 88!" Sale will last 'til August 21, 2011. :)

Cheers,
DAWN
