BYS x Glamourbox: Make-up Workshop Event

Good day ladies,

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to attend a make-up workshop by BYS and Glamourbox at the Center for Aesthetic Studies.

BYS celebrates its third year and they have partnered with Glamourbox to bring us three of their best selling products: Nude palette (1 and 2), Countour Trio, and Brow Defining Kit.

These along with other products are featured in the Glamourbox special edition BYS box for September.

To fully utilize these fabulous products, BYS has called on the expertise of Katchi Mejias to educate us on the latest trends on highlighting and contouring.

First off, she reintroduced us to the contouring technique popularized by Kim Kardashian and then she introduced us to these new terms, "strobing" and "baking".

So first, she showed us tips and tricks to achieving a dewy youthful look by using the strobing technique. So basically strobing is all about highlighting. The trick is to get that balance of dewy glow against the ugly shiny look of a very oily face. Apply highlighter on areas on your face that naturally catches the light. However, if you want to amp up the dewy-ness for an evening look (or for photos), you can get a shimmery eye shadow of the lightest shade and use a fluffy small brush to apply it on top of the highlighter. Do not worry about damaging the make-up underneath the loose powder when you brush it off, doing this also sets your make-up.

Next is "baking". After you've put on your foundation and concealer, you press a liberal amount of your loose powder with a slightly damp wedge brush over your under eye area, over the area of  your cheekbones, on your chin and your temples. Leave it on for about 10 - 15 minutes, or while you do the rest of your eye make-up, then dust it off and blend well. Do make sure to blend well to avoid those camera accidents we see on pictures of some famous Hollywood stars.

Anyway, here is the finished look. Katchi says that red lips are quite popular now also dark lips (browns, plums). 90s make-up is also becoming quite popular again.

And here are the products in the loot bag which can also be found in Glamourbox's BYS Special Edition box plus a nail polish.

I will be featuring these products in an FOTD using the techniques taught to us during the event. Do watch out for that.

Cheers,
LIZ

MOX Botanicals Lip Butter in Coconut Almondine

Hey loves!

My lips was annoyingly dry this week. Ugh! I really hate it when that happens. Grrrr... But thank goodness I found something that helped me "fix" my chappy lips and I'll be sharing it to you in this post!

MOX Botanicals Lip Butter in Coconut Almondine

You can get the regular sized product (0.2 oz) at Glamourbox for Php 740.00.

The one I have was included in one of my Glamourboxes last year. I only used it twice and my first thoughts were it was too thick and waxy for my liking. I also didn't like the taste and the smell so I just kept it in one of my "will probably use this in the future" containers. :P

Recently, my lips got so chappy and my current lip balms won't work in giving my lips the moisture it needs. That is why I looked for other balms that I have stored that I can use that might help solve this very, very serious problem. I took the MOX one because I remembered I used this on one of my friends who I did a makeover with. I didn't want to apply the balms I use because they were on stick form and was applied directly on my lips, at least with this one, I use lip brushes because I don't dip my fingers onto products in tubs. My friend really had chappy lips so I applied this first and fifteen to thirty minutes later, the dryness lessened. So might as well give it a try for myself and I am happy to say that MOX Botanicals did the trick.

I left it overnight and during the day, I apply it on my lips before I apply my lipstick and after only two days, my lips were back to normal! I still dislike the thick, waxy consistency and the taste and scent, but this sure solved my problem!

I like that it cured my chappy lips but I still find everything else about this annoying, plus, it's quite expensive! Haha! It's 2-3x more expensive than my regular balms, although it's more hydrating... hmmm...

Anyway, if you don't mind the waxy texture and the odd taste and smell then you might find this product great.

Have you tried this product yet? Would you still consider using balms that are too waxy if it works really good?

Unboxing: Eye of Horus Philippines x Glamourbox Special Edition Box

Hey loves!

A package arrived a few days ago and I was surprised because I wasn't expecting any. It has been a while since I received anything beauty related so I was pretty excited in opening this one. Turns out, it was the Glamourbox I ordered last January. I've forgotten about it for some reason... I have just been busy the past week. :P

I really needed some cheering up this week because work was stressful and I had so many requirements for my grad school classes that was due last Thursday and Friday. This box really turned my bad mood to a happy one when I got to unbox this special edition Glamourbox. They teamed up with Eye of Horus, a brand that specializes in eye makeup that I've been dying to try because of all the positive reviews I've read from bloggers. Yay!

I always loved this new box design of Glamourbox. It's just so simple and chic!
I take the boxes to my office and put some of my stuff in it to make my desk more organized.

When you open the lid, you just know that this package is filled with the Eye of Horus goodies!

Here's what the card says...

You get five items from the brand.

Eye of Horus Teal Malachite Goddess Pencil

I was expecting and preferring a black one because that would be more useable but the teal shade looks good too.

Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara

Can't wait to use this one. I'm about to replace my current mascara because it's past six months and this just arrived in time!

Eye of Horus Sharpener

A very fancy looking eye pencil sharpener here! Super classy!

Eye of Horus Ankh Necklace

Didn't expect jewelry to be included here but the necklace look fancy as well. I think I would be wearing it a lot.

Eye of Horus Facial Bamboo Mit

Another unexpected product to be included in the box but I still find it useable.

I only paid Php 695.00 for the box so I think I got more than what I paid for. I was hoping for more makeup though but I'm satisfied with the stuff I received. Everything included in this special edition box will definitely be used by me and you'll be seeing my reviews on them soon. :)

Press Release: Shop for a Cause with Glamourbox Gives Back

Hey guys!

Glamourbox has teamed up with Eye of Horus to help our fellow Kababayans. It has been a year since the super typhoon Yolanda struck the country and until now, we're still recovering from it. The people who became victims of this typhoon still need as much help as possible and I'm happy to share with all of you that one of our favorite subscription boxes has teamed up with Eye of Horus and It-Ain't-Nothing (an Australian non-profit org) to support 50 Filipino Families and build 50 homes. Check out the press release below.

 Glamourbox Gives Back

It’s been a year since Typhoon Yolanda devastated the country. And while there are those who have managed to shake off the dust, pick up the pieces, and move on, there are still a number of people out there who are in dire need of our help.

Australia-based non-profit organization It Ain’t Nothing recognizes this, and has made it their mission to build 50 homes in typhoon-hit Malapascua Island, where many are still living in makeshift shelters as a means of getting by. Hence, It Ain’t Nothing’s goal is to raise $50,000 in continuing efforts to provide permanent homes for 50 families, with one house valued at $1,000 each. The good news is that as of October this year, 28 homes have already been built. But they are still halfway from hitting their target, and now, you can get your chance to help out and get involved.
Glamourbox believes that beauty is as beauty does, so it has partnered with one of its exclusive beauty brands, Eye of Horus Australia, to raise funds for this worthy endeavor. On November 7 - 8, 2014, both Glamourbox (www.glamourbox.ph) and Eye of Horus Australia (www.eyeofhorus.com.au) will be selling special Eye of Horus gift packs on their respective websites simultaneously, with proceeds going towards building homes in support of It Ain’t Nothing’s cause.

The gift packs are available for P2,000 each of which will contain Eye of Horus’ line of coveted beauty products: Goddess Mascara, Scarab Sapphire Goddess Pencil, Liquid Define Liner, and Sharpener, plus a free gift. These products are valued at over P3,000. And the best part about it is that you know your purchase is going towards putting a roof over a deserving family’s head—making you look and feel good, while you’re at it.

To boost fundraising efforts, Amy Lennane of Eye of Horus Australia will personally be flying in to the Philippines on the first week of November, she will be talking more about the great work that It Ain’t Nothing is doing as well as creating awareness for the cause. Together, Glamourbox and Eye of Horus are aiming to raise at least $4,000, all of which will go towards building four homes for those in need.

It’s time for Glambabes to get involved and show our countrymen that we haven’t forgotten about them! So mark your calendars and get ready to shop for a cause, the Glamourbox way.

Unboxing: Glamourbox Flawless Beauty Box (August 2014)

Hey everyone!

My Glamourbox for the month arrived today.

I was curious about the "Flawless Beauty" box because... well, I want my face to clear up from my acne problems and thought that maybe the box would contain an anti-acne skincare products or a foundation or concealer makeup. Either way is a win for me.

So without further a do, let's open the box, shall we?

Names of the products with the prices

OFRA Cosmetics Long Lasting Lipstick in Laguna Beach
Php 950.00
Not aware of this brand but it really looks interesting. The shade is totally beautiful and I can't wait to try it out.

Ellana Minerals Brilliance and Lip Scrub in Strawberry Vanilla—Php165
Ellana Minerals Multi-Purpose Mineral Powder in Halo—Php160

Another duo that I'd like to try out. I already know how the Multi-Purpose Mineral Powders work but I don't have the Halo shade yet. So I'm glad I can get to try it out.

Belo Essentials AcnePro Pimple-Fighting Gel Face Wash—Php 99.75
Belo Essentials AcnePro Pimple-Fighting Treatment Toner—Php 79.75
Belo Essentials AcnePro Pimple-Fighting Pimple Gel—Php 149.75

Already tried these and well, not really that suited for my skin. :(

TRESemmé Trial Pack Smooth and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner
Full size are Php 275.00 each

Got this before already... I guess these can be handy on travels...

Bonus product:
Beauty Republic Original Dramatic BB Tinted Cream and Dramatic Green Touch BB Tinted Cream
Regular Size is Php 695.00 each
Another unfamiliar brand. Gonna try these as well, I guess. :P

And that's all. To be honest, I'm not jumping up and down with joy with this one... I guess I do like a couple of the products but I probably just expected better. I mean, I got more than the amount I paid but I've already tried most of the items included and I didn't really like some of them. But I really appreciate that most of the stuff included are full-size! I do think this is a good box it's just that I already tried half of the products included. :P

I still paid for another box so hopefully the next one is better. I already feel like I am cursed when it comes to subscription boxes... I don't seem to get the really good ones I see from other blogs. LOL Oh well. :P

Unboxing : Special Edition Belo Glamourbox

Hello loves!

It has been a very busy week for me. When I get home, all I want to do is go to bed and sleep. I can barely accomplish other things I want/need to do outside my work. But it's always good to end a week with a surprise from Glamourbox filled with awesome items!

Getting curious? Well, let's go ahead with the unboxing then!

It's the Special Edition Belo Essentials Glamourbox!

It's never early to be ready for summer! Be a beach goddess with these full-sized products from Belo SunExpert and Belo Essentials... And yes, all of them are in FULL SIZES!!! And a box is only Php 595.00.

As you can see on the above list, this was an awesome deal. I got 3x the amount I paid!

So here are pictures of each product included:
Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40 - Php 329.75

Belo SunExpert Body Shield SPF60 - Php 459.75

Belo SunExpert Transparent Mist SPF50 - Php 449.75

The three products above will be very handy this summer! Love the high SPF for everyday use! :D

Belo Essentials Whitening Anti-perspirant Deodorant
Aerosole 140ml - Php 179.75
Roll On 40ml - Php 89.75

Have used the roll on before and it's good. With such an affordable price, it controls odor and sweat and didn't cause my underarm further darkening.

Belo Underarm Whitening Cream - Php 799.75

This is something I've been wanting to try for a few months now! I have been searching for affordable ways to lighten the UA and I've read forums that recommended this. Crossing my fingers that this will help my problem!

I'm sooo loving this box. It's my second box from Glamourbox this year and it's another awesome one (click here to check my first box of the year—Snoe box). The UA Whitening Cream alone is worth more than the amount I paid for. And they are all in their full sizes!  This is a really awesome deal! I can now forget the disappointment that is the January-February Saladbox I got a week ago. :P

And before I end this post, I'll just share a quick ballpen sketch of a flower. I drew this while waiting for our office meeting to start. :P

Cheers,

Unboxing my Snoe Glamourbox

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

It's been a while since I posted an unboxing post. I've been controlling my urge to buy any subscription boxes during the holidays because I know there'll be loads of things on sale I can spend my money on. Haha!

But when I saw that Glamourbox is collaborating with Snoe, I didn't hesitate to buy the box. Snoe is, afterall, one of the few local brands that really impressed me because of its great quality and lovely package designs.

So I received the box today and was surprised on how heavy it was! It got me so excited to open it because just by its heaviness, I knew the money I spent was well worth it already.

And I don't know if I've mentioned it before but I really love Glamourbox's boxes! They are so sturdy that I keep 'em as storage boxes of random stuff. :P

Let's open the box, shall we?

A happy start for 2014 indeed! My first subscription box is a specialty box containing products from one of my trusted brands. What's not to like?

The list of products included in the box are listed on the card along with their prices.

And here are the goodies!!!!

Wooot! So many full-sized products!!! :D

Hair Heroes Agent Zero Cleansing Serum - Php 599.00
Been so curious to try this and finally got one! Yayyy!

Snoe White Beauty bar in Organic Papaya - Php 139.00

Snoe White Beauty bar in Lightening Licorice - Php 139.00
I've been a fan of some of their soaps but I'm not too fond of these two since they are lightening variants. I don't wanna get lighter! :P

Snoe Body Ritual Recipes Whipped Body Frosting Lotion in Honey Dew Melon Yogurt - Php 249.00
This smells soooo GOOOOOD!

Snoe Fizzy Clean Foaming Hand Sanitizer - Php 179.00
This will surely come in handy. I always bring a hand sanitizer wherever I go.

Snoe Bedside Besobalm - Php 249.00
I actually have a handful of lipbalms but I guess this is worth a try.

Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire - Php 799.00
I think this is the only product that's not in its full-size. Still eager to try and discover why many love this item.

And that's that!
I'm super happy with this box and I think my payment of Php 1,190.00 (shipping included) was well worth it. Expect these babies to be reviewed soon!

And btw, I also received some samples I ordered from Ellana Minerals and Sample Room yesterday!

Yayyy! Can't wait to try all of these!!! :D
