She was able to get this for only ₩7,000 (that's around Php 280.00 here) somewhere in Ewha Womans University. It's original price was ₩14,000! (Good job, Jho! *insert Facebook like symbol here*)

I requested for this because I've read great reviews about this powder and I would like to try it for myself. They claim that this product is being used by many celebrities from Korea, and I just think that their skin looks so flawless. I've read that this is very soft and smooth and it gives a natural smooth finish on the skin. Exciting right? Here's a product description from sasa.com:

how to use it 

Tap the bottom of bottle 3 times, twist open the lid and take out the brush. 

Tap the brush to remove excessive product. 

Gently brush on the forehead, cheeks and chin. 

Apply light layer of foundation by making continuous circular motions on clean and dry face from the T-zone out until the desired coverage is achieved. 

Tips: 

Take light and small portion each time and build up to the coverage you desire.

For oily skin, absorb excessive oil with facial absorbent paper and re-apply the mineral foundation to get the same natural effect.

I've seen some pics of the previous packaging of this product and the present packaging is definitely an improvement. This design is classier with the metallic red lid and the clear acrylic container. I like that there is a mirror and that the product is separated from the applicator. 

The surface that separates the powder has holes so you can control the amount of product you will get and it has a sticker so that no powder is spilled. Some people do not completely peal off the sticker to avoid spills and also reduce the amount of product taken.

The applicator is a white puff that is actually pretty soft but I don't use it because I prefer using my powder brushes when I apply this.

The product is a bit pinkish. This shade is called Original Beige. I've seen another shade which is Beige Ochre, a darker and warmer shade.

 The powder is very light and fine and when you spread it, you can feel how soft and smooth it is.

It may seem like the powder is very light but it's actually translucent. Once you spread the powder and blend it over your foundation, the finish is still like your skin tone but you look more radiant and glowing. Here's proof of what I am talking about!

I apply the product just like how I apply the Ben Nye Banana Powder (click here for the post).

I leave the powder on for 5 minutes or more. I usually do my eyebrows and apply the rest of my eye makeup while I wait. I like this technique since while I apply powder eyeshadows, I don't worry about the fall out of the shadow because it will just land on the large amount of finishing powder I applied under my eyes. I just sweep the powder off after a few minutes and no eyeshadow smudges from the fall out!

When my eye makeup is done, I sweep off the powder and blend it around my face and this is what happens.

My face looks brighter. It's like a subtle highlighter and finishing powder in one! If you think the powder is too much, just spray some face mist and it will set faster and it will just look like your natural skin! Check out my photos with the rest of my makeup on...

I find that my skin looks really good on photos when I wear this. It's like the pores are gone and your skin is healthier and brighter. And this won't cause any white cast on flash photography if you're wondering.

I find finishing powders great for setting and prolonging makeup and this product does those very well and I like that this effectively controls oil. It takes me a good 4 hours before my face gets shiny. Yay!

Review : Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder in Translucent

Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder

I got this powder for free when I attended the Max Factor Creme Puff Restaged event last November. The event was about the new golden look of this classic product for its 60th anniversary and the unveiling of its product ambassador, the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow!

Just by knowing how long this has been available in the market is already saying something about this press powder. Only really beloved products would stay for as long as six decades in the market! This is probably why Max Factor tries to innovate the design so that it will keep up with the current trends and generation.

So this is the new golden look.

I must say, the classic black was already good but this one just gives that glam feel to this powder. The only thing I didn't like is that the labels are scratched off easily.

I got the Translucent one.

And btw, is that an applicator??? I think it's just a filler, you know... so that it doesn't break when it's being carried around everywhere... but if it is a sponge applicator, it's totally useless. :P

After opening the compact for the first time, I immediately smelled a perfume-like scent. It's unusual for me to smell something that strong from a makeup. I mean I've used scented makeup like from Guerlain or Chanel but so far, this probably has the crown for strongest scent in a makeup product. Not that I'm complaining. I actually like the scent. But some people prefer their products unscented. So before buying this, check first if you like how it smells. And also, do not worry because the scent only lasts, or at least is noticeable for only a few minutes.

So this is Translucent so I expected it to be translucent. Perfect for retouching to get rid of the shine when you're out of the house. Here's a swatch:

I had to swatch it heavily and many times just so it can be visible on my arm. But I have read some reviews that says it has good coverage... probably the other shades. Translucent does not in my opinion.

It feels silky smooth and sits prettily on top of my liquid foundation. I love it as a setting powder. It gives a matte finish on my makeup as well and suits my skin tone.

What I LIKE:

- For a 21g product, this is affordable

- Available in 7 shades

- Silky smooth

- Matte finish

- Locally available

- Love it as a setting powder

What I'm NEUTRAL about:

- I like the package design but the labels/letters are easily scratched off

- The scent is fine with me but I guess it's too strong for a makeup product and might be annoying to some.

- Would have loved it if it has oil control

What I DON'T LIKE:

- I have no idea if the sponge included is an applicator or just a filler but if it is an applicator, then it is a huge con.

Would I buy again?

I'm not too sure. I'm leaning to 'no' for now just because I like to try other products and that this didn't impress me so much. I like it but I still want my powders to help control oil.

Loving My Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder

Hello loves!

Sharing with you this product that is now a must since the first time I've tried it!

This powder has been so popular since last year. I believe it's because this is the powder Kim Kardashian's MUA uses on her.

I've read so many good reviews on this but I also found some bad ones. So I didn't know what I was really getting into when I bought this. I just did because I was curious about what all the hype was about. I was supposed to get the smaller one but a friend of mine was selling this in a very affordable price so I got the bigger one... and I'm so glad I did!

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder

I bought my 3oz bottle from a friend for Php 800.00 only. :)

The packaging isn't any special. Just a plastic bottle with labels on it.

I use this as my setting powder first. It gives my face a matte finish and a little glow. I love that it has a yellow tone because I have warm skin tone. It just looks natural when applied and it makes the BB Creams that I use that has pinkish tones look better. It offers a bit of oil control too and what makes me love this so much is that it makes my skin feel sooooo silky soft!

BUT that's not all!

There's another use for this powder in my makeup routine—I use it as highlighter! It's not something new. It's actually what made it so popular. :P

In the next few pictures, I'll show you how I do it...

I first put some powder on the cap.

Using my Virginia Olsen Contour Brush, I get this much of the product.

And just to show you the difference this process does, I'll only do it on half of my face.

I apply it on these areas of my face. I also put some on my nose bridge, a bit on the center of my forehead, on top of my cupid's bow and on the top area of my chin—the places where light usually touches.

I let it set on my face for around 5-10 minutes. 

And then I lightly brush it off with a thin fan brush.

And voila!!

Instant glow, right?
It may seem like it takes a lot of effort to do but I like the finish better than most of the highlighters I've tried. This is matte and it makes my skin look gorgeous on camera! Haha!

And even if I put quite an amount of powder on the under eyes, I don't encounter any caking! :)

Though I find the finish absolutely lovely, I'm still curious what the lighter shades of Ben Nye powder will look. The Banana one is too close to my skin's color already and I have friends with lighter skin tone that I usually get as my models on makeovers and I want to use this technique on them too. Maybe I'll get the shade Buff sometime. :P
