A primer is now one of the items that is a staple in my makeup application as it prolongs the wear of my makeup. Having oily skin, my makeup melts off in a few hours, especially during the summer, and a primer is one of the solutions for this problem.

I've tried quite a number of primers already and I just continue to try more. Here's one of the primers I recently used:

Review : Max Factor CC (Colour Correcting) Cream

Being a makeup junkie, I love trying out different makeup. So I casually stroll at the beauty sections of malls and check out different products from different brands that I could try out. I've bought many that I surprisingly liked while some were disappointments, but there are a handful that I felt somewhere in the middle... meaning, I really want to like them but some of the cons are too important to ignore. One of them is the one I'm reviewing for today's post...

Max Factor CC Cream
I bought this for PhP 695.00.

The shade I got is 60 Medium. It's available in six shades and this is the 4th from the fairest. Most, if not all were beigey in color.

I bought it mostly because of curiosity to try something new and because it claims to provide skincare benefits while making your skin look radiant as seen on the label:

TOP TIPS FOR HOW TO APPLY

With cc cream, a swift application works best. You don’t need to fuss over blending as the formula smoothes quickly and easily over skin.

Squeeze a small amount onto fingertips and gently rub together – warming the product makes it even easier to apply.

Starting under the eyes and around the nose, apply in small circles and work outwards towards the hairline.

If you need added coverage, dab extra cream where necessary and blend.

The product is housed in a tube which is something I like on my liquid products because it's easy to squeeze the product out. It only houses 30ml but for it's price, it's a good deal!

Medium is the shade closest to my face's shade while I was checking the testers out on the counter. As mentioned above, it's all beigey which is something that I usually encounter in western drugstore brands. I always think that a powder close to my shade on top of the CC Cream can do the trick that is why I bought it after seeing how good the coverage was! I also hoped that being a CC Cream, it has that property to blend on the skin that I've experienced in other CC's I've tried like the one from Etude House and The Body Shop.

It really does deliver good coverage—medium coverage and buildable. The consistency is creamy but super lightweight! No oily, greasy texture at all. It's so easy to spread on the face whether you use your fingers, a brush, or a sponge.  When you apply it on the skin, it's like you're not wearing anything! It's mildly scented (like a zesty refreshing breeze with a hint of floral scent) too so no problem for those who don't like heavily scented products.

As seen on the before and after photos above, the coverage really is impressive. The problem? The beigey shade made my NC25 skin look too pink. And I guess oxidation made the color darker too. Maybe I should have gotten the lighter one? Good thing that it still looks natural for some reason after a while of wearing it. 

The product, with the help of a loose powder can stay the whole day which is pretty great. I love that it doesn't make my skin oily too. I have oily skin and I don't feel so greasy when I have this on. I still use a primer underneath so that probably helps also... The moisture it gives is pretty decent although I can't really tell how it will work on those with dry skin.

Summary:

What I LIKE:
- Lightweight
- Medium coverage
- Natural finish
- Has SPF 10 (But this is very low so I recommend to still apply sunscreen)
- Affordable
- Locally available
- Easy to use packaging
- Long-lasting
- Sort of has oil control or at least my face doesn't get greasy easily?
- Decent moisturizing qualities
- Easy to apply

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Only available in 6 shades and they are all beigey! I need a warmer shade!
- The package design is pretty boring

Would I repurchase? I like it but I probably won't. The mismatch in the shade is a turn off. It's just too beige, leaning to becoming pinkish on my skin. Plus, I like trying out new stuff! It's still a recommendable product because... just look at that long list of pros! It's really good.

NOTD: Crowned Purple

Hello dears!

It's been a rainy week so far. I hope you all are safe. I know that the current typhoon caused many unfortunate situations in the northern areas of the country and also to those who are on their way home but are stuck because of the strong rain and occasional floods, but I can't help but appreciate the cooler weather. I wish everyone is safe in their homes though.

Anyway, here's my NOTD. I thought to share it because I got compliments from it and it's actually very easy to do.

It's like a french tip and I just add chunky glitters at the tip part.

These are the products I used for this NOTD.

I applied the Palladio Nail Repair underneath because some of my nails are in need of that. :P

The BK purple polish is actually matte with fine silver glitters.

The tip is a glittery metallic pink (Max Factor Nailfinity in 882 Angel Nails) and then the chunky glitters, which I bought from Landmark, are also pink.

It's an elegant look, I think it would look better if I have longer fingernails. :)

NOTD: Max Factor Nailfinity in 882 Angel Nails

Sharing my NOTD with all of you today!

I used the Max Factor Nailfinity in 882 Angel Nails.

I got this from a friend last week and I wanted to see if it would look good on my nails.

I wanted this because it's so sparkly with a hint of pink! 

But when you apply it, it's soooo silvery that you can barely see the pink tones, you can see the pink tones if you place your nails away from the light. 

I already applied two coats on my nails here. I'm not really bothered by the mostly silver finish because I find that it looks kinda good on my nails.

So what do you think of my nails? :D

Review : Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder in Translucent

For me it was the same trip to mall with a little shopping and then a fantastic food trip with my brother. And before the day ends, I share a blog review with you guys.

Today's beauty product review is...

Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder

I got this powder for free when I attended the Max Factor Creme Puff Restaged event last November. The event was about the new golden look of this classic product for its 60th anniversary and the unveiling of its product ambassador, the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow!

Just by knowing how long this has been available in the market is already saying something about this press powder. Only really beloved products would stay for as long as six decades in the market! This is probably why Max Factor tries to innovate the design so that it will keep up with the current trends and generation.

So this is the new golden look.

I must say, the classic black was already good but this one just gives that glam feel to this powder. The only thing I didn't like is that the labels are scratched off easily.

4 Sweep the powder brush over the powder and tap the excess off on the back of your hand.

I got the Translucent one.

And btw, is that an applicator??? I think it's just a filler, you know... so that it doesn't break when it's being carried around everywhere... but if it is a sponge applicator, it's totally useless. :P

After opening the compact for the first time, I immediately smelled a perfume-like scent. It's unusual for me to smell something that strong from a makeup. I mean I've used scented makeup like from Guerlain or Chanel but so far, this probably has the crown for strongest scent in a makeup product. Not that I'm complaining. I actually like the scent. But some people prefer their products unscented. So before buying this, check first if you like how it smells. And also, do not worry because the scent only lasts, or at least is noticeable for only a few minutes.

So this is Translucent so I expected it to be translucent. Perfect for retouching to get rid of the shine when you're out of the house. Here's a swatch:

I had to swatch it heavily and many times just so it can be visible on my arm. But I have read some reviews that says it has good coverage... probably the other shades. Translucent does not in my opinion.

It feels silky smooth and sits prettily on top of my liquid foundation. I love it as a setting powder. It gives a matte finish on my makeup as well and suits my skin tone.

What I LIKE:

- For a 21g product, this is affordable

- Available in 7 shades

- Silky smooth

- Matte finish

- Locally available

- Love it as a setting powder

What I'm NEUTRAL about:

- I like the package design but the labels/letters are easily scratched off

- The scent is fine with me but I guess it's too strong for a makeup product and might be annoying to some.

- Would have loved it if it has oil control

What I DON'T LIKE:

- I have no idea if the sponge included is an applicator or just a filler but if it is an applicator, then it is a huge con.

Would I buy again?

I'm not too sure. I'm leaning to 'no' for now just because I like to try other products and that this didn't impress me so much. I like it but I still want my powders to help control oil.

More Christmas shopping was done but for this post, the items are all bought by my sister, Tracy, for herself. :P So don't expect any reviews from me since I wouldn't be using them. Hehe. :) I'm just posting this as a price reference. :P

She actually bought this for her even though she already bought a Foundie from Bobbi Brown so that we can avail of their promo which was her Christmas gift for me. More on that on my next haul post soon. :P

Original price is Php 1250.00 but it was on sale and we got it for Php 937.50.

She actually bought this when she was still in Sydney on the way to the Philippines. Regular price of this in SY is $68 but she got this in Duty Free SY for only $54.

This pretty pouch is actually a brush set. She's been looking for  a small set she can carry while she travel.

I actually bought a necklace like this but my sis liked it too so she got one for herself - Php 339.75.

It's very portable and looks chic!

She also bought around 6-8 pieces of clothing that are currently in the laundry so I wasn't able to take photos.
