Maybelline Fashion Brow Mascara in Dark Brown

Hello dearies!

Whenever I watch videos by makeup artists online, I usually see them say that the brows can make or break your overall look. I agree. The way you shape, groom, and apply your brow makeup can greatly influence your face. The brows just frames your face so if it's too strong, it can be too distracting; if it's too unruly, it can make your face a bit messy.

So I try my best to make my brows look better. To be honest, I don't have problems making the brows of others look good... But I have a hard time keeping mine look good. My brows are uneven and half of it is thick and full while the outer half is... I guess more manageable...? But I happen to know what I need to keep my brows look better—a brow mascara. And the one I'm using now is...

My hair is colored cherry brown (although the around 5-6 inches from the roots are already black and sort of look like an ombre style). It's a dark brown warm shade but pairing it with my naturally dark brows (BLACK!) doesn't look that nice. That is why I always buy a browcara whenever I have my hair colored. I'm happy that I still have this browcara in my stash when my hair grew out and the color looks subtler since my natural hair color is noticeable now that I didn't retouch the color and it's 1/3 of my current hair.

I remembered the moments before I bought this product, I was searching for a browcara that would make my dark brows look subtler to emphasize my eyes more. I wanted something that's still close to my natural hair color (since I don't really color my hair light, I just go for reddish brown or dark brown) but is pigmented enough to cover the whole thickness of brow strand. When I saw this, I like that it's matte and I also like the Dark Brown shade. I also like the thought that its quite affordable!

I also like the small wand and how there's a long side and a short side. The longer ones can reach the longer, thicker strands of brow hair while the shorter one can be used on the arch area up to the outer tip of the brows.

Here is the swatch. As you can see, the formula is matte—something I prefer since there are quite a number of browcaras who have metallic or shimmery finish. The consistency is slightly creamy and scent is barely there.

Below are pictures to show you how the product performs with my eyebrow:

My bare brows

As you can see, my brow hair is quite thick and and a bit difficult to groom since most of them point downwards. A brow mascara is usually necessary to keep the strands in place.

This is what my brow looks like with the browcara alone. The product was able to coat the entire brows evenly which I like because I have experienced from a different product that there is difficulty coating the really dark ones located at the inner area of the brow. I also didn't get any clumping so the finish is actually close to looking like my brows are naturally brown in color. Haha!

Just to make a clean arch, I usually pair the browcara with a good brow pencil. In the photo above, I usually line my brows first with a pencil then coat the brow hair with the browcara to keep the strands in place and change the color of the hair.

The staying power is quite good as well. I don't normally scratch or touch my face so the usual cause when my brows get ruined is sweat or too oily skin. This product can tolerate those problems because whenever I go to work, I do sweat and my face do get oily a lot and it can still last the whole day!

To summarize:

What I LIKE:

- Matte finish
- Coats the brow hair evenly
- No clumping
- Applicator is easy to work with
- Affordable
- Locally available
- Long-lasting
- Available in four shades

What I DON'T LIKE:

- I can't think of anything!

Would I recommend it? YES! Would I repurchase? YES!
I think the last two questions and its answers says how satisfied I am with this product. It's very effective with coating the dark strands of my brows and it's very affordable too. So if you're thinking of trying out a browcara, do consider this one. ;)

And that's my review! Hope this helps.

FOTD: Blonde Hair Red Lips Combo

Hello ladies,

I have always wanted to color my hair differently especially after I had that balayage treatment a few years back. So after last year, I was finally able to get my hair colored.

So I went to Vivere salon and told my stylist, Ms. Rich Abella that I wanted purple hair. However, since I previously had my hair colored blue-black and I wanted dark purple, bleaching will take more than one session. So for this coloring job, we had to divide it into two sessions.

So I actually achieved two hair goals in two weeks. Week 1, I was blonde but my hair was more yellow than the nice blonde we see on film so it was a struggle to fix up my make-up and make it look natural on me.

Dawn came to my rescue with a few brow kits (Kanebo Kate Eyebrow Mascara in LB-1 and Etude House Easy Brow Pencil) and it helped up-lift my face and make the blonde work. Which came in a good time because my cousin's wedding happened that weekend and my blonde hair was immortalized.

And this was how I wore it to the event. Simple classic red lips and a french twist hairstyle to keep everything classy.

I do think french twist looks better with colored hair since you can see the twist better than when it's done on black hair.

It's quite easy to do. I actually did this one myself. It's easier to do on short and medium length hair rather than with long hair. There are a number of youtube video tutorials on how to do it. And here is one.

https://youtu.be/F00c_e16_is

Do you think I pulled off the blonde hair look? I'll be posting my purple hair in a few days so hope you read that too. Plus, since my birthday is coming up soon, we'll be launching a birthday giveaway in a few days, wait for that as well.

Cheers,
LIZ

Review : Canmake Color Change Eyebrows

Hey loves!

Isn't it so annoying when your eyebrows and your hair just don't look together? I know that many girls love to try different hair styles and that includes a different hair color. But it just looks odd if you have a bright hair color and then your eyebrows are just black. I'm not saying that your brows should be the same color with your hair, just find the right shade to match your hair... I guess it's all trial and error because sometimes, some brow colors look good with a different hair color, an example is Cara Delevingne's.

Anyway, I know some people who get their skin around the brow area irritated when they try to dye them so why risk it when you can just get a brow mascara? Brow mascaras are very easy to use and they are becoming pretty common now especially with Asian makeup brands where you can buy them in a more affordable price. One of the brow mascaras I've tried and liked is the...

Canmake Color Change Eyebrows
Bought this for Php 440.00 two months ago. It's affordable, although I've found some that are cheaper in price, I still find this pretty affordable.

The shade I bought is 01 Chestnut. It is available in a lighter shade which is 02 Honey Brown.

Here's the product info from the website:

Just one coat provides a high-color effect similar to bleach!!!
Completely change the look of your eyebrows, for a more stylish impression in an instant♥
High-color/Waterproof/ Won't rub off Warm water removal
High-color effect similar to bleach (no pearl particles)

● Contains no pearl particles, so you don't need to worry about obtrusive shine.
Fiber-free, yet creates soft, natural-looking eyebrows
● Imbues each and every lash with soft, natural definition.
● Creates a soft, natural-looking finish without scratchiness, even after drying.
Simple to remove with warm water

♥What does eyebrow mascara do?♥
① It matches your eyebrow color to your hair color, preventing your eyebrows standing out unnaturally and ensuring that your make-up looks well-balanced.
② It makes your skin look lighter and more translucent, creating a gentler impression.
③ It tames your eyebrows, keeping them looking neat and tidy.

[01] Chestnut brown
Recommended for those with dark to natural brown hair! A versatile color that creates a gentle aura.

[02] Honey brown
Recommended for those with bright to very bright brown hair! Although it's bright, it won't look odd or unnatural.

What attracted me to buy this besides the color is that this product doesn't have any shimmery or pearly finish. I tried the tester and it coated my brows easily and it still looked somewhat natural. You'll see the finish later on this post.

The packaging is the usual mascara type with the tube and wand. I like that the tube is clear so you can see the shade color. The label gets easily scratched off though. :/

The wand is shaped well. It's easy to apply on the brows without worries of applying too much or getting too much product on skin. The size makes it easy to manipulate too.

Here's a swatch of the product.

No shimmer or pearly finish whatsoever! It's also very pigmented and a bit thick... it is lighter than what I prefer but I guess it's still okay because I really like the finish. Check the photos below:

No product on brows

With the product

It colored my very dark brow hair successfully with no awkwards shimmers too. I like that it also tamed the directions of the hair strands. This product is water-resistant because even after a long day (considering the sweat from the heat and my oily skin), it stayed on. Just try not to rub or scratch the brow area and it will be there for the whole day.

So to sum it all up:

What I LIKE:
- Colored my dark brows well
- No shimmers
- Affordable
- Locally available
- Long lasting
- Applicator is easy to use

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Available in only two shades
- Labels on the packaging gets scratched off easily

Would I buy again? Hmmm... why not? I like this product and I do recommend it. I would like to try other brands though. :)

And that's my review. I hope this was useful! :D

Nature Republic Botanical Eyebrow Mascara

Hey dears!

Sharing this amazing find from Nature Republic!

Nature Republic Botanical Eyebrow Mascara
Bought this for Php 345.00.

The shade I got is 01 Brown.

Let's check the details about the product on the packaging:

Packaging is really simple. It's so unlike most of the product packaging of the brand... or other Korean brands for that matter...

But I don't mind. I find it pretty okay actually. It's not bulky, it's simple but it doesn't look tacky, and it shows the color of the product.

The wand is small enough to make sure the application is neat and easy. It holds enough product to cover both my brows.

Here's a swatch on my arm.
I like that the color is near my current hair color. And what I love most about this is it is matte. I've used brow mascaras that have shimmer and I really don't appreciate that.

So here's how it works on my brows...

Bare brows
(I sort of didn't blend the foundation well on the pic... sorry. :P)

Here's how it looks when I just apply it alone. I didn't fill in the brows with a brow liner.

Here's my brow with the product and a brow liner.

It made my brows brown! It covered the hair strands very well. I really like it because it delivered what I wanted which is toning down the blackness of my brows and a matte finish to make them look natural.

I'm happy I discovered this product and I will most probably buy one again.

Review : Tony Moly Party Lover Coloring Browcara in Light Brown

Hello loves!

Looking for a product to match your hair color? Then a brow mascara is what you need! I've been getting my haired colored lately and my brows are thick and black which obviously doesn't look good with my reddish brown hair.

So I've been trying out different brow mascaras out there just to lighten the strands. One of the products I've used is...

Tony Moly Party Lover Coloring Browcara
This is Php 348.00.

I bought this a couple of months ago at their store in SM North.

The packaging is pretty simple—just a brown tube with few labels (that I can't read Lol).

So here are some info from their website:

It comes in 2 shades. Mine is in light brown though I think I should have gotten the Grey Brown first. :P

Here's the wand. It's uneven since one side has shorter bristles than the other. The size is just right to easily apply the mascara on the brows. The wand gets an appropriate amount of product for each brow.

As directed on the info, apply first opposite the hair strands then brush it according the strands after. But before I apply this, I use a brow pencil to fill the gaps on my brows.

I actually have too dark brows that it doesn't look good in one coating. See the picture above.

So I apply two coats. I let the first coat dry first before adding another one.

Here's the final look of my brows after two coats.

The product doesn't wear off easily. Even if I have oily skin, it sticks pretty well. It lasts the whole day provided you don't scratch or wipe your brow area. Also, this product isn't  metallic unlike some of the brow mascaras I've used before.

What I LIKE:

-Long-lasting
- Affordable
- Locally Available
- Easy to use
- Not metallic

What I DON'T LIKE:

- Only comes in two shades (I wish they have a redder version for my hair match)

Would I repurchase?
I like it but I'm not too impressed since I still need to coat my brows twice to get the desired color. I guess I'll have to try other brands first.

So what are your thoughts on Tony Moly Party Lover Coloring Browcara in Light Brown? Do you wear brow mascaras too? From which brand do you use?

Cheers,
