Review : Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask

Hello dears!

A couple of months ago, I got introduced to Dr. Morita sheet masks through their event when they finally brought their products to Philippine shores. There I learned about the brand's history and the different product variants available. This Taiwanese brand headed by Dr. Chun Hsu Jou has developed a number of sheet masks through thorough research and it shows that their sheet masks are well-loved as it is one of the bestselling masks in Asia, specially in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

I left the event with ten sheet masks of their most popular product—The Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask.

Here's the product description I got from their press release:

"Award-winning and best-selling, Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask ensures lasting moisture is delivered to the skin with Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen imported from Japan. Apart from hydrating the skin with three different sizes of Hyaluronic Acid molecules, it also soothes and promotes skin repair with Cucumber Extract, Marine Collagen, Ceramide, and Niacinamide. This makes a great anti-aging option for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin."

During the event, Dr. Jou reminded us how important it is to keep our skin hydrated. Being in a warm, tropical country with high humidity, many of us think that we don't have dry skin... I actually know so many people who think they have oily skin even though I think they are more of a combination or even normal... but I'm no dermatologist so I don't want to assume that they are wrong... but yeah, as someone who have oily skin for almost two decades, I'm pretty sure that my entire face, including my cheeks and jaw area, get oily after a couple of hours. ANYWAY, whatever your skin type is, you can still get dehydrated skin which causes your skin to look dull and even dry. That's why in colder and dryer areas like Japan and Korea, sheet masks are popular because they try to keep their skin moisturized as much as they can. Dr. Jou even mentioned that many use sheet masks everyday and some even twice daily.

So this gave me the idea to actually try the masks daily to see how it will affect my skin...

The first thing I noticed is the sheet mask is thicker than the masks I've tried before. When you take it out of the packaging, you can unfold it easily because it has a backing that keeps it steady. I also noticed how damp the sheet is so you get all the goodness of the essence to your skin. Don't throw away the excess, transfer it to a jar and buy those Miniso compressed face mask and you instantly get another mask to use on your face again.

The essence is watery and clear and almost odorless if you don't actually sniff it. It doesn't feel sticky and my skin actually feels refreshed after use.

The mask fits well on my face although it doesn't cover my whole face. The side of my jaw wasn't covered so I just spread some essence there once in a while.

I wear the mask as suggested, 10-15 minutes, although there are times that I exceed to 20 minutes. If the sheet mask is still a bit wet, I wipe it on my neck, arms, and legs.

I use this in the evening after I cleanse, tone, and add my vitamin C serum.

Here's my skin after 10 days. It got brighter, more plump, and softer. I even think that the acne scars lightened faster than usual too. I really love how my skin looks. I think my skin's condition hasn't been this good for the last five years and I just got obsessed looking at the mirror and checking out how good my skin turned out. Hyaluronic acid is known to retain the moisture in our skin. It's actually a natural component in our body but diminishes as we get older and when we are exposed to skin damaging factors like the sun. So adding hyaluronic acid to our skin helps our skin absorb and retain moisture keeping our skin youthful.

Before I wasn't that much of a fan of sheet masks. I did believe that it really helps in giving you a brighter and livelier looking skin so I usually reserve it for the day before a special occasion, because it really is an expensive routine if you do it daily (this particular mask is PhP 74.00 each). But just seeing this result just made me want to continue using one on a daily basis. I'm just amazed that my skin can get this good even though I thought that I already have a good routine prior to the daily use of masks.

So yeah, I became an instant fan of the Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask. No wonder it's the brand's bestseller. It was even given a silver award from the Monde Selection.

So do I recommend this product? Hell yes!!! I just love discovering really good products and if you ever decide to try this too, I hope you'll love it as much as I do.

Cheers,
DAWN
