Hello dolls!
My favorite makeup would be eyeshadows and if you're like me, then you will definitely agree that finding a really good eyeshadow primer is one of the discoveries to happen in your makeup-loving life. I've had my shares of hits and disappointments and my search still continues. Here's the latest primer I've bought...
Kat Von D Lock-It Eyeshadow Primer in Light
The regular price of this at Sephora PH is PhP 1,425.00 but I know I bought this on sale... I just can't remember how much exactly. Haha!
I wasn't really planning on buying an eyeshadow primer back then. I just thought that maybe the eyeshadow primer from Kat Von D would be good considering that the brand is known for it's bold colors and creative makeup. Plus, it was on sale. Haha! I just wanted to try it out so that I can find out for myself.
Good thing that the shade available was light. I think this is the second lightest shade next to fair. I wanted a shade that is a bit lighter than my skin to easily create definition (since I have semi-hooded eyelids).
There other shades are Fair, Medium, Tan, and Deep.
When I bought this, I was expecting it to be good to be honest. I haven't tried much Kat Von D makeup but I have seen reviews of their products that are good and the few ones I've used (usually eyeshadows) are indeed pigmented. I didn't know how a stick version would feel (since I usually use liquid/cream type primers), but I just dived in! Haha!
Anyway, let's get to know the product by checking the product descriptions:

100% Cruelty Free Forever!
Did you know?
You can apply Lock-It Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer along the lower lash line to prep for a smoky eye. Extending the primer from your lid down to the lower lash line keeps your shadow and liner locked down, too!
This primer locks in color-correcting power instantly! Apply one lid at a time, coating the entire eyelid, then use your finger to quickly blend.
I love the design. The overall dark feel of it makes it look edgy and mysterious. I'm really impressed with the consistency of the product designs of KVD.
As mentioned, it's a stick-type or bullet-type primer. You just twist it up to get the product.
At first I thought that the length of the product isn't that long and that it wouldn't last long in terms of usage for me but a little goes a long way for this and I've been using it for 5 months now and I'm just around half of it.
Here's a swatch. It's actually pigmented to my surprise. It evens out the skin tone around the eyes. I can compare the consistency to a concealer. It's creamy and can be spread easily with fingers. It may take a bit more time with a brush but I find that fingers are better anyway when using this.
To test the power of this primer, I chose a pigmented eyeshadows. This is a MAC eyeshadow.
Left is without primer and the right has the Kat Von D Lock-It Eyeshadow Primer underneath.
These are thick swatches but you can tell that the one with the primer has more intensity.
To check how durable the primer can make the eyeshadow, I did these tests:

Here, I wiped my arm with my fingers.
Then, I wiped the swatches with a tissue back and forth.
The pigments without the primer disappeared but the one with the primer was locked-in! Very impressive!
And how did it work on my very oily lids? It worked like a dream! No creasing at all! I've brought it with me when I travel, I use this when I go to work and my eyeshadow stayed put the whole day! My brow makeup gets smudged but my eye lid stayed on point! AWESOME!
What's more impressive is how much it can hold glitter makeup. I love glittery things so I couldn't resist not trying a very glittery eyeshadow. And when I put this then topped it with glitter, the sparkles stayed in place THE WHOLE DAY! Wow!
I have nothing but love for this but I do have a "con" that I've noticed: If you use it on top of powder, it gets harder to spread so try to apply it directly on skin only and don't let powder mix with it (even your loose face powder). Other than that, I am very satisfied with this.
Would I buy again? Hell yeah!
And that's my review of the Kat Von D Lock-It Eye Shadow Primer in Light! Do you know other eyeshadow primers that you would recommend?
Cheers,
