I Defeated Cracked Heels with Footlogix!

Hey dears!

I'm a pretty heavy gal with small feet... well, I'm a size 6.5-7 (US shoe size), which is average, but if you compare it to my plus-size self, they look small. So just imagine my two small feet carrying such a heavy weight all day!

I surely demand so much from my feet and they tire easily and they do get damaged, especially when I walk a lot like whenever I travel. Aside from sore muscles, I get calluses and cracked heels! My feet really deserves the right treatment and pampering.

Just a year ago I finally gave the proper attention that my feet deserves. I made sure that I get products that will help my feet look and feel better because they really looked bad. So I started applying foot lotions and treat my feet with a foot spa at home every few weeks. Fortunately, my feet looked better than it was and I was content.

But just a few weeks ago, I received a message that Footlogix Philippines was willing to send me three of their products to try. I gotta be honest, I wasn't aware of the brand, but seeing as it's a brand that specializes on foot care, I was all in! I definitely want to try some products that will further help improve the condition of my feet.

Pamper Weekends with Caronia Hand and Foot Care System

Hey everyone!

I think many of you would agree with me that our feet suffer the most after a long work day when it comes to our body, especially now that it's the rainy season! I work in UST and that place gets flooded quite easily after a couple of hours of heavy rain. We expose our feet to long walks when we commute, getting soaked in the rain/flood while wearing closed shoes, occasionally wearing uncomfortable footwear (I've done this a lot just to look a little prettier. Haha!), and just plain carrying our weight everyday (THIS!!! Haha! I am plus-sized and I have small feet. So yeah, my feet take a lot of pain everyday! Haha!) ! As a result, we get callus, cracks, and sometimes blisters. Yikes!

So I make it a habit that when I get home, the first thing I do is to remove my shoes and let my feet rest for a while before I do chores or take a bath and such for at least thirty minutes.

I would like to treat my feet for a luxurious foot spa once a week if I could but the practical me would not want to spend so much money if I can just do it myself at home!

And here's where the Caronia Hand and Foot Care System comes in. This is a range from Caronia that help our hands and feet to look good and moisturized. I currently have the Rejuvenating Soak and Wash, Renewing Scrub, and Nourishing Cream. I have tried the Nourishing cream before and I liked it very much that I bought another one. I love the scent because it's green tea, and I LOVE green tea!

I was recently included to their blogger list whom they keep updated about the newest trends and products of the brand. I'm happy to grab the opportunity because Caronia is indeed a leading brand when it comes to nail, hand, and foot care in our country. Anyway, the products above were given to me by the brand almost a month ago along with a cute pink case and a towel. I've been using them ever since I received them and I'll share my quick thoughts about them. :)

But first, check out the press release below about the range:

CAREFREE RAINY DAYS WITH CARONIA

The rainy season is here and as we prepare for the wet days ahead, sometimes it's easy to forget to take care of our body.

These unpredictable days normally soak our hands and feet, making them prone to dryness after some time. But don't worry because we have got you covered with the Caronia Hand and Foot Care System - three quick steps that will give you a soothing and rejuvenating hand and foot spa experience:

•       STEP ONE: Caronia Revitalizing Soak & Wash - Cleanse, soothe, and soften your hands and feet with the luxurious blend of Green Tea fragrance, soothing menthol and skin-softening dead sea salt.

•       STEP TWO: Caronia Renewing Scrub – Exfoliate dead skin cells and ease tired hands and feet muscles with the gentle mix of apricot seeds and white wax beads plus the calming infusion of Green Tea fragrance, massage oils and menthol

•       STEP THREE: Caronia Nourishing Crème – Smoothen and hydrate your hands and feet with the mix of Panthenol combined with refreshing green tea fragrance.

And you're done! So try the Caronia Hand and Foot Care system now and have fun in the rain!

_______

So as I have mentioned, I do this almost every weekend. The three steps are pretty simple to follow and you don't need to buy other expensive items to pamper your hands and feet. Everything is affordable including the Caronia range!

Just get your products, a towel, a wash basin, and a floor rug (for cleanliness reasons). A foot brush and pumice is optional. :)

I took pictures of each product, just click the photo or open it on another tab for a bigger view and to read the labels. :) I also took pictures of the usual process I do when I treat my feet with the Caronia Hand and Foot Care range.

I first soak my feet in a wash basin with the Revitalizing Soak and Wash. The amount I use depends on how much water I have in my basin. I don't have a particular amount in mind, I just estimate it according to the foam and the scent. :P

I soak my feet for 15-30 minutes. I usually watch an episode of a TV series that I like during that week. I also brush it with a foot brush after for further cleaning. I sometimes use the pumice to get rid of surface dead skin.

After soaking, I massage the Renewing scrub.

I massage the product for a good 5 minutes. I like that the beads that help exfoliate aren't too gritty but they are not too soft as well.

Finally, the Nourishing Creme. I apply this the last and I also apply it every night before I hop into bed.

The consistency is not too thick. This cream helps to keep your hands and feet moisturized but if you want intensive moisturization, then I think you should look for it from a different product. I think this is more on maintenance... at least for me based on my experience.

It's awesome that you can achieve a spa experience at the convenience of your home using these products from Caronia. I'll definitely continue with my weekend foot spa routine and pamper my feet with love and the awesome scent of green tea! :D

If you want to try the range out, Caronia products are available in leading Department Stores, Supermarkets, Drug Stores, and Health and Beauty shops nationwide.

Nail-a-Holics: A budget-friendly spa experience?

Hello ladies,

Today I share with you my foot spa experience at nail-a-holics nail salon & spa SM San Lazaro branch. Do know that this happened 2 weeks ago, hours before my sister's debut.

So, I was from 24 hour hospital duty that day and it had not occurred to me to take pictures of the whole thing and place as I was not expecting to post about it. I genuinely thought that the service would be ok and that it's not super extraordinary that I'd go blog about it. Anyway, I originally thought that their foot spa as well as the hand spa (if that was the term for it) already included a manicure/pedicure with it. Unfortunately, they did not so I took the 700 peso package which included the foot spa and mani-pedi.

Around this time I was really looking for some good massage for my feet as the past few rotations have been a torture to them and I've been suffering mild aches and pains on my soles. And since I've read a good deal of reviews from nail-a-holics, I was expecting a good service.

So now, let me share to you the experience.

I am not that picky about certain things and I guess I don't get easily grossed out but I just can't stand seeing their towels, the seats, and the throw pillows. I know that the branch had been there for quite sometime, but I think it's only appropriate that they do change the sheets on the seats or throw pillows once every 2 months or what. The seats look exactly like they've been sat on by a lot of people and all the sweat and dust have stuck on them. The towels were battered and a little dark so you know that they've been using those probably since the store started and they've only been washed and rewashed. I wouldn't have any problem with that if I had had this service with some mani-pedi lady from my province or some salon where it only costs around 50 to 100 for both hands and feet, but, to have your business named nail salon and spa, I think an occasional spring cleaning to keep with appearances is necessary. Maybe dispose of those unsightly towels and wash those seats. I don't know if this is only in SM San Lazaro branch, but even so, shouldn't they maintain quality of their equipment in all branches?

Next, I really would have let things go since probably this is the "norm" in other nail spa as I've only been to three. However, when your feet still feels similar to velcro when you're walking on your bed I cannot let that go. Let me make it clear that the lady who did my foot scrub was nice, but I guess she overdid the scrubbing a little? I have never had this experience with my two previous foot spa and I do not understand how it could even stay like that for more than 2 weeks. Here's a picture of my soles.

Lastly, I did say I wanted a good massage for my feet. On my previous experience of foot spas, they do thoroughly massage not just your soles but also includes your calves/your legs and they ask you how hard or how soft you'd want it. Here, however, there was no such questioning, she did not ask if I wanted it hard or soft. Ok... I don't really mind either way. But the massage was only good at first, then in less than 10 minutes she was done with both foot and leg. The only massage she did for my legs was two "karate chops" and it was done. What was that? It was the same for my hands.

I was in a hurry that day so I asked if they had a nail dryer or a quick dry solution, which they had... so she put liberal amount of the solution on my nails and it looked like I had eaten a really oily piece of meat with my bare hands. It did dry up quick but after a day, the nail color started looking like they had bubble underneath and it looked so ugly I peeled it off my hand. Yes, peeled.

So overall, I was not happy to have spent 700 pesos for that service because I know I'd be able to get better service with the same amount or even less. So I do hope they try to take some of the suggestions especially the first one. Anyway, I won't be going back there anytime soon.

Cheers,
LIZ

Caronia Hand and Foot Care Nourishing Cream in Green Tea

Hey dearies!

Love having foot spas?
I'm currently loving them! I am doing a lot of walking right now which makes such luxury something I'd take to pamper my tired feet.

To tell you the truth, I was avoiding foot spas in salons before. I only do them in the comforts of my own house. It has nothing to do with the service itself or the places I have been to. It was actually because of me. I was embarrassed of my feet. I have small feet yet I'm in the heavy side. Carrying such a heavy body may be causing my feet callus and I really had thick ones. I find those on my feet disgusting that I don't want people to see nor touch them.

So after a long and tedious task of getting rid of thick and rough skin on my feet, I am more confident in exposing my feet and have the lovely experience of getting foot spas! I don't have to do them myself anymore! LOL

One of the products I use to take care of my feet is this product:

Caronia Hand and Foot Care Nourishing Cream in Green Tea

I actually got this for free after buying nail polishes from Caronia during Cosmetologie 2013.

About the product (from the website):

A nourishing mix of Panthenol combined with soothing Green Tea fragrance. Smoothens and hydrates hands and feet.
Available in 50ml, 200ml and 500ml sizes.

Front and Back of the tube.

The scent is like mild and soothing sweet green tea. The product is quite thick but it's really easy to spread onto skin. It may take a few minutes for the product to be fully absorbed by the skin BUT this pretty thing right here is very moisturizing! It keeps my feet from drying and having cracks. Though this doesn't lock in the moisture in my feet like that of when I use petroleum jelly, this product is feels waaaay more comfortable and easier to use. I love this product because it performs well and it's so comfortable!

Do you have a favorite product to use on your feet?

Review : Apollo Petroleum Jelly

Hello everyone!

I am currently struggling in writing this post right now because I am using an android pad which I've only used once to watch some tv series episodes I've missed.
I'm getting frustrated that I don't have my laptop (it's still broken) and I'm not sure if I am lucky enough to convince my mom to buy me a new one. Haha!

But anyway, I just wanted to share the reason why I've been avoiding writing long posts and why I barely do blog visits.

So on to the beauty talk!

The product I will be reviewing for you is one of my current "besties."
Why do I say that?
Let's just say that it does so many things alone! I can throw away 4 products and just have this one.

Apollo Petroleum Jelly

This jar was sent to me for review but this brand and product is not new to me. My sis used to buy this to treat the roughness of the feet and avoid them from cracking.

The jar is not fancy unlike most beauty products I use but as you can see in the label at the back, this is a not only beauty product, it's multitasking. Besides catering to some of our beauty needs, it does other things like soothe scrapes and burns and even diaper rashes!

But for ladies that are very much interested in prettifying ourselves, they made some beauty tips for us :

So I did try all these tips and give my thoughts on the product's performance on each in a bit.

I use a spatula to scoop the product out. It's not really nice that you apply the product on your feet then get some more to put on your lips, even if you make sure that you have cleansed the areas already. :P

And so on to the beauty tips:

As a lipstick protectant:
I barely notice it's help on making the lippies more long-lasting but it gives the glossy finish that some may like. It also adds some moisturizing effect that prevents the lip bleed effect on darker lipsticks.

As a Lip Balm:
This is so true. No chapping whenever I use this! Only problem for me is that it really feels thick in consistency. It feels greasy.

Eye makeup remover:
I wasn't sure if this was true when I read this but I was surprised when I used it in removing my waterproof eyeliners and mascara. It really did the job well! But I still rinse it off afterwards because I don't like the oily/greasy feeling of the product on my eyelids. :P

Foot and Hand Softener:
Now this is probably my favorite among all of its uses. I use it on my feet every night! I walk a lot and my feet are starting to have those cracks and those rough calluses. Even foot spas can't cure all these. Good thing I have Apollo Petroleum Jelly who helps a lot in improving my feet's state.

Besides these, you can also use this product when applying your nail polishes. Apply the product on the skin near the nails so that when you apply the polish but accidentally put excess on the sides, then you can just easily wipe it off for a clean finish. I also remember using petroleum jelly when making artworks, more specifically, little sculptures using plaster of paris.

This product really does deliver. Who needs to buy 4 products when 1 can do it all?
I recommend it to those who are practical and on a budget. And oh, especially to those who like to walk and are on the go! Our feet needs love too!

And it's also available in different sizes -  25g, 50g, 100g, and 200g and it is available at all Mercury Drug stores and leading supermarkets nationwide.

Do you use petroleum jellies as beauty products too?

Cheers!
