Review : The Body Shop All-in-One Face Base in 035

Buona sera signore,

I'd like to apologize if it seems that lately my posts have all been about products from The Body Shop. I just feel like I have to finish all my long overdue posts. Anyway, last time I reviewed the All-in-One Concealer, now here's the review on the All-in-One Face Base.

So again, this product has the key ingredients of the collection, Marula Oil and Vitamin E thus it's fairly good for the skin.

Here are pictures of the product.
I love that they did a separate compartment for the sponge and the face base itself. Makes everything clean and keeps away the oil that the sponge has sucked up from ruining the product.

Although I don't really use the sponge so I can't comment on how it looks if you use the sponge. I find that I tend to put more on with sponges or I tend to put it unevenly on my face. So ever since I got acquainted with make up brushes, I've never used sponge since.

And here is the face base.

So since I've been using brushes for this, I find that this face base is really hard to get onto the brush. It tends to get messy since I have to break the top layer to get some of the product onto the brush.

Here's how it looks.

Swatched on hand.

With the All-in-One Face Base on.

So the finish of this is matte which makes it good for setting your make up. However, I do not recommend using it by itself as the coverage is minimal. Plus, although it's in the same collection as their wonderful, color adapting BB cream, it does not really adapt to match you. The finish is so white, even my brother said I looked odd up close and my imperfections seemed too obvious. I had to rub some off just to get it down to the shade I that suits me... which meant, almost nothing of the product was left on my face.

So in summary:

What I like:
Packaging
Great for setting make up

What I don't like:
Too white

Will I buy again?
Probably not. I prefer using loose powders more than compacts.

I can't really put in a definite recommendation about the product. I'd probably recommend it to people who are more experienced with compacts and more experienced with a sponge as they know how to better use it. I wouldn't recommend it however to those that prefer the barely there make up since it sits too obviously on your skin.

If you've tried this product with the sponge do share with me your experience. Thank you.

Cheers,
LIZ

Review : The Body Shop All-in-One Concealer

Hello ladies,

Although this is not the one I promised to make for my next post, I felt that this one was long overdue... So without further ado... Finally, here's the review on The Body Shop All-in-One Concealer.

As was mentioned a few months back, this is part of their All-in-One collection, this basically has their Community fair trade Marula Oil ingredient and added Vitamin E which both care for your skin. Supposed to be a complement to that collection's star, the BB cream, here's what it promises:

A smooth, easy-to-blend concealer that effectively covers imperfections and dark shadows.

True enough this concealer glides smoothly and is easy to blend. However, I am not so convinced that it covers imperfections effectively.

Swatched on hand

Used for spot covering.

Coverage is minimum. I have tried layering it over when it comes to covering big nasty pimples and really dark spots on my face and still could not attain the coverage I want. It did however cover my less troubling spots and areas and was a really good under eye concealer.

Love the packaging since it's travel friendly plus unlike the ones that I have, I don't need to use my fingers or a brush to get some of the product onto my face. I've used it more often as a touch up concealer for when my morning concealing is starting to fade.

So to sum it up:

What I like:
Got it for free
Travel friendly packaging
Great for under eye concealing

What I don't like:
Minimal coverage

Will I buy again:
Not soon enough I guess since the amount I have will last me a long while before I ever buy again. But if I ever run out, I'll consider buying one.

That's it... It's really been a long over due post. Well hope this helped...

Cheers,
LIZ

FOTD : Pink Revolution

 Hey guys!

The last two weeks had been sad for me due to the really bad weather and some unexpected events that happened.
To distract myself from all of these issues, I turn to something I find pleasure in doing -- Makeup! I really wasn't planning on going anywhere. I just wanted to pamper and prettify myself today.

I was digging through my makeup stash and saw the products that The Body Shop gave me, mainly the All-In-One Makeup and Lily Cole Makeup line, and I had this idea to do a look using all of those.

It's quite a simple and wearable look actually. I got the idea from the press kit they gave me.

I own most of the products mentioned in that look which made it easy for me to do it.

Makeup Used:

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Dome Blush in Pinch Me Pink
The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette 24
The Body Shop Puff On Radiance

The Body Shop All-In-One Concealer in 02
The Body Shop Face Base in 035

 Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Etude House Drawing Eye Brow in Brown
Etude House Color My Brows in 3
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara
Wet 'N Wild ColorIcon Eyeliner in Amethyst
In2It Liquid Eyeliner in Purple
Maybelline Lip Polish in Purple Passion

Here are some closeup photos of my eye makeup:

 And more vain photos!!!

It's such a sweet look. I even paired it with my favorite pink headband! Haha!
It's quite easy to do and I felt like a little pretty pink princess while taking pics. Haha!

Anyway, I just wish that this typhoon would leave the PH soon and will not cause more heavy rains. It's getting quite depressing already.

Keep safe guys!

Cheers!

Review : The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream

Hello lovelies!

Last Saturday we were invited by The Body Shop to attend their Love Your Body Loves Green event. There they also introduced us to their new All-in-One make up line and they were so kind to give us samples that were in our shade.

So before I head into the review proper, here's a little information on the All-in-One make up line.

The All-in-One collection is made up of the All-in-One Face Base, All-in-One Cheek Colour, All-in-One Concealer, and of course, All-in-One BB Cream. And of course, this make up line not only beautifies our skin but also contains ingredients that help nourish it. This line's ingredients like vitamin E and community fair trade marula oil.

So now, back to my little review...

So the star of this make up line is actually the All-in-One BB Cream.

What's so special about this one? Well, a lot of the BB cream formulas are not really skin tone friendly. Most of them have a grayish tone and are not really compatible to morenas, dark skinned, and generally, most Filipina women. It takes a lot of time and layers of powder to get them down to your tone, or takes precision to ensure that you get only a thin and even layer so that it doesn't come out too white. Which is a lot of work compared to just getting a regular foundation of your skin tone and applying it simply. Still, foundation lacks the skin nourishing ingredients found in BB creams which made them so popular.

And this is where The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream comes in. This innovative formula offers what all other BB creams can't, 3 different shades that can match your skin tone; and when I say match, I mean... it adapts to your skin tone... like literally change color. You'll see in a while.
Here's a picture of the ingredients.

So here is the product.

It starts out as a white cream with microbeads... color beads I guess, or what they call pigment filled capsules.

Then you apply it, and as you spread, the color changes into your skin tone. As you can see, along the edges and around the area near Dawn's wrist, the color is already changing to adapt to her skin tone.

And viola! The end product is a light, natural looking coverage.

So here it is on Dawn's face before (left) and after (right) application.

As you can see, it offers minimal coverage, but you CAN build it up until you're satisfied with the coverage since the color naturally adapts to your skin tone. This is a big plus since you can't normally do this with other BB creams as they will look too white or they'll gray out your tone.

So there are three shades for this BB cream. The one Dawn and I are using is the 01 shade which is good for those with pinkish undertones. The 02 shade is for women with yellow undertones to their skin, and the 03 shade is for women with darker tones. So, you'd still have to work out which shade is right for you, but since they only come in three, and they adapt to your skin color, it's not really a big problem.

It is quite long lasting, as you can see, here it is after 12 hours (with powder foundation) and no retouching. It has a smooth finish that is quite natural looking and it's lightweight. Since it adapts to your skin tone, it cuts down your make up time so it's perfect for women on the go.

I did try this out for about a week using different primers. I used it with The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, Benefit The Porefessional, and Missha The Style Silky Soft Base in Green and it works well with them. Plus you can use any powder base on top of it.

It does give you that shiny-ness after some hours, since it contains moisturizer and madura oil. But the coverage is still good, you just need to wipe the excess oil off and probably put some powder.

It has a very fragrant rosy smell. When Dawn and I took it out of the goodie bag, we immediately smelled it, and it was covered at that time; plus when my sister entered our room, she immediately smelled it while I was applying it on my face. And it adds a certain girly feeling to it. :)

The only thing I do not like about this product is that it does not have spf. What it has, however, is sunscreen, but I'd still like it if it has spf since I'm always walking to school and the sun is always upon me. So yeah, hope they can improve on that.

Also, I think it's kind of pricey for a student, but given that it offers so much more than other BB creams, I'd say it's a fair price.

So in summary,

What I like:
- Packaging
- BB cream
- Colour-adapts
- can build up coverage
- Lightweight
- can mix with other make up products
- Fragrant
- Natural looking smooth finish
- long lasting
- comes in different shades

What I don't like:
- NO SPF just sunscreen

Will I buy again:
Of course! I'm more of a BB cream girl than a full on foundation girl. :)

So this line comes out on August 10, if I am not mistaken. So I hope you girls watch out for it and try it out. Hope this review has helped you.

Ah! And if you know of any other BB creams with the same feature do tell me as I haven't really seen one like this and it would be great to be informed so I can try that one too.

Cheers,
LIZ

The Body Shop : Love Your Body Loves Green - Go Virtual!

 Hello Lovelies!

Do you love The Body Shop products?
Are you Love Your Body members like I am?

Well, I'm happy to announce that The Body Shop is encouraging us, Love Your Body members, and those who are planning to become a member to go Virtual!
As most of you may know, one of TBS' core values is to take care of Mother Earth so they want to lessen the usage of plastic and turn their membership cards to something virtual instead!

DID YOU KNOW?
PVC is the most used material for membership, loyalty, or credit cards. On average 36 grams of CO2 is generated for every plastic card produced. Globally, over 10 billion plastic cards are produced every year for marketing purposes. Hence, 50 million kilograms of plastic waste and 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions are generated. To counter the CO2 effects of card production, we need at least 9.2 million trees.

Just look how much a simple shift can help our environment??
But for now, only MAC products such as IPad, IPhone and ITouch can get the app but in two months time, the android smartphones can download it as well!

The Body Shop invited us to attend Love Your Body Loves Green Program in MOA last Saturday, so that we can go green and go virtual! It's such a really good cause and it's also convenient for us since I think we always carry around our phones and some gadgets nowadays.

I was excited to go but I don't have the gadget for it. Good thing Liz has an IPad now! Yay!
When we got to the location, you will see the shop decorated with their new program and products!

Shifting to a virtual card is very easy!

Just access the internet, download Perkd (If you're not aware of what Perkd is, it's somewhat like your virtual card holder... it's said that it's one of the most used app nowadays)...

Pick The Body Shop Love Your Body, Philippines...

Complete the necessary details...

And voila! I have myself a Virtual Card!

Now I can be proud and say that I got involved in a good cause to save our Mother Earth! ♥

The Body Shop Philippines is also the first-ever TBS market in the Asia-Pacific to adopt this kind of technology that enables its members to conveniently access their LYB membership/ rewards programme anytime, anywhere.

On the other hand, The Body Shop also introduced to us their new makeup products!

So off to the makeup station we go!!

Meet The Body Shop's All-in-One Makeup Line and Their new Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer (I actually bought one already a few days back). :P

Liz and I got our makeovers to be one of the first few people to try out the products! Yeeey!

Here's Morning,TBS' makeup artist, applying the new BB cream on me. The BB Cream looks amazing! It's color started as white then blends to your skin tone as you apply it.

Morning and Dawn! We're like sisters in names!

And of course, we posed with our dear makeup artist! Thank you for making us pretty that day, Morning! ♥

Will post more about the products in future posts!
The Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer is already available in all The Body Shop stores while The All-in-One Makeup will be available by August 10! ♥

And there were snacks!!! Yayyyy!

The yummy cupcakes were present!
Liz loved the crinkles while I just can't get enough of the White Choco chip cookies!! ♥

Our adopted sister, Helen, is also in the event!!

and before the event ended, we also posed with the beautiful girls of The Body Shop!
The sisters with Angel, Danica, Nicole and Helen.

We went home with goodies too!

We got the All-in-One makeup and a Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer! They were so sweet to ask for our exact shade before putting the items in the goody bag! Thank you so much, The Body Shop! Can't wait to try them out!
(If you want a review of a certain product soon, comment below!) ♥

The day was wonderful for Liz and I. We helped a good cause to protect Mother Earth, got a makeover, tried out new products and even got to take some home! Lovely, lovely day indeed!

I really do think that this is a wise and thoughtful move by The Body Shop.
Their ways to help communities and our planet is what makes me proud that I am an LYB member. I know how plastics can be harmful to our environment and shifting to a virtual card is a really good way to reduce plastic waste. It may be something very simple but just imagine if more brands do this, think how much it would help our planet, right?

Cheers!
