Pink Beauty Collection / October is Pink Month!

Erica of The Glamorous Gleam sent an email five days ago, informing us that October is National Breast cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection. The topic is close to our hearts, especially since our mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in 2007. This was a very difficult stage in our family life, since our father has passed away when we were very young and our mom has always been the breadwinner. Back then, I (Tracy) just graduated college and Dawn was  just a sophomore, and our brother still in highschool.  But after almost a year of chemotherapy and countless medicines, she's now cancer-free! Today, she's living one of her dreams and is currently on a two-week long trip at the Holy Land (Jordan, Israel and Egypt)!

Want to know more? On a serious note, Erica states further that:
The most common signs of breast cancer are a lump in the breast, abnormal thickening of the breast or a change in color or shape. You should perform a self breast exam at least once a month and report any abnormal findings to your health care provider. If you are 40 and over, you should regularly be getting a mammogram. Although breast cancer affects predominately women, men can also develop this illness so fellas pay attention to changes in your breast area as well. For more information, visit The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Website at http://www.nbcam.org
While all these details are important, there's a little something-something organized by Erica to cheer up our mood in celebration of this effort. While Facebookers are placing pink ribbons on their profile picture or purchasing pink paraphernalia, beauty bloggers can post their pink makeup collections!

JUST-BECAUSE GIFTS

Hi everyone! We hope you're doing great!

Today's post is entitled "Just-Because Gifts" because most of them were given by very thoughtful friends.

Trace: The first one comes from a Faye, freshman from UST. I have been training HS kids for competition, and she was the captain last year. Her mom works for Clinique in Dubai, which explains the kikay loot she gifted me to show her appreciation.

Clinique Blushing Powder Blush in 20 Bashful Plum with Brush 1.8g sample
Clinique Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick in Blushing Nude sample
Chanel Coco Mademoisellle Body Cream 6g sample

Dawn: This next set comes from Ate Joy, a friend from Japan. It's a cute mix - Japanese green tea, Blendy (does anyone know what this is?!), Tango Max Crunch Chocolate, and Brazilian Slimming Coffee which was purchased locally. Mmmmmm. I don't know if we're going to lose weight or gain some more! Haha!

Trace: This last picture is from a swap with Kat. Technically, this is not a gift package but just the same - it's been a pleasure transacting with her! Her goodies are wonderful!

So there you have it, just a quick post! We're preparing something nice for tomorrow since we attended a pamper treat c/o The Body Shop and Ystilo Salon (our very first)!

FOTD: Peach Blush + Pink Lips

So I have finally tried my hand on doing the Peach blush + Bright Pink lips FOTN - I am guessing that my version is a little more subdued because: (1) I have oily skin so I stay away from too much shimmer! and (2) I have full lips dominating my small face so I can't get away with super bright glossy pink lips!

Anyway... Here are the products I used:

FACE
Laura Mercier Primer
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation NC25
MEOW Cosmetics Flawless Feline Frisky Chartreux (Highlight)
Christian Dior Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Loose Powder in 030 (Setting)
Shu Uemura Pro Spots Concealer in 7YR Medium Light

EYES
MAC Paint Pot in Delft
AUBE Cream Shadow in 05
Laura Mercier Eyeshadow in Mermaid
Stila Smudge Pot in Bronze
Shiseido Hydro Powder Eyeshadow in H2 Whitelights
MAC Fluidline in Black Track
Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara
MAC Eyebrow in Lingering (not in pic)

CHEEKS
Laura Mercier Illuminating Quad in Mocha Spice (Bronzer)
Benefit Georgia (Blush)

LIPS
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink

A lot of stuff for a simple face huh? Hahaha! Scroll down for more...

The most accurate picture in white light. See how pale my lips are? And yes, I am wearing the ubiquitous loud-printed "duster" - the classic pinay house dress - so that I won't soil my outfit for the night! All I'm missing are humongous curling rollers on my head, and I look like a 70's nanay.

This version is my staring-out-at-space look. Oh my God, I have no talent in posing AT ALL.

Played with the settings a bit for vintage cuteness.

Cheers,
Trace
