EOTD: MAC, Stila and Maybelline

Hi pretty gals! Using the same tools, my sister and I have come up with a two looks!

I (Trace) have decided to do something completely apt for day and just enhanced the shape of my eyes - hence, I confined the bronze and brown within eyelid fold. I also only lined 3/4 of my eyelid to make the impact very subtle.

Dawn, in the meantime, went all smokey and perfect for night! She blended the shadow beyond her crease line, following its contour. She also extended the liner to create a mild cat's eye shape!

Do notice that MAC Rubenesque showed up peachy on my NC25 skin, while Dawn got a very gold finish when applied on her NC5 tone. Using Stila's Bronze Glow Eyeshadow Trio, I also liberally concentrated the bronze shadow on my eyes while Dawn blended the dark  brown on hers. We both lined the inner corners with the brightest shadow for a brightening effect. The same Stila Smudge Pot liner became vibrant bronze on me, while on Dawn's eyes the effect simmered down to a darker hue. But of course, no complaints using the Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara!

Funny that even if we use the same products, the end result is always different - blame it on the skin tone and the technique!

TOOLS USED:

We hope you like our little experiment!

Tutorial: Makeup for Monolid Eyes

The Makeup Den - Dens Congco - has written a very good post on how to put makeup on monolidded eyes (i.e. no crease). If you have this eye type, check out the post here! It's one of the most interesting blog entries we've read today.

We hope this helps. Cheers!

Review: MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque

Rubenesque
Golden peach w/ gold pearl (Frost)
5g / 0.17 fl. oz.
US $16.50

But wait! What's a paint pot? It is a highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Swatches

On paper (We hope it doesn't blind you!!!)

On eyes (T on the left, D on the right)

Tracy says: I love this color! It's a peachy gold that brightens my eyes - not just the usual boring gold, but with a kick! I don't think I can use it as an all over base since it deposits a very warm finish, but as a lid color it flatters me well.

The best thing about the MAC Paint Pot is that it works like a good eyeshadow base - my eye makeup lasts longer when I have this on my lids. Even if it's considered a cream eyeshadow, it actually prevents caking and creasing! The texture is hard and not waxy, the pigment is concentrated and really sticks to the skin... When it dries up, it stays on better than powder!  I'd love to get more shades.

I just hope I can find a hue that is similar to Shiseido The Makeup Hydro-Powder Eyeshadow in H9 Glistening Sand, since I've been lusting over that for years (I just don't have the power to pay PhP the full 1, 800 for a little pot of Shiseido! I was able to get H2 Whitelights for a steal though, from a friend)

Dawn says: It's a useful neutral that enhances the color of your eyeshadow. I'm not crazy about it though.

Watch out for our double EOTDs!

Cheers!

Dawn's Drawings #3: Finished Beauty

Dawn writes: Remember this post? Here's the unfinished version:

And this is the final one:

I hope you love it!
FYI: I do not retouch my drawings via photoshop. Disparity comes from a different lighting condition.
