Review : The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion

A very cold day lovelies!

What's the downside of being a student? Staying up late, stress... and worst of all... break outs... Not that only students have break outs and blemishes...

Women have always struggled with fighting of blemishes and skin imperfections and although we LOVE the fact that make up helps us conceal them, we are also in constant search for products that would help us heal them faster and, much better, prevent them from coming altogether without using drugs.

And The Body Shop has done just that for us with their new Tea Tree Line. In particular, Dawn and I have recently been using the Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion
A lightweight, hydrating gel-crème for
blemished skin. With regular nightly use helps
minimise the appearance of post-blemish
marks and discolouration

This product comes in a pump which makes dispense and clean up easy, and also ensures hygeinic use. :) The consistency is much like any other lotion but it is very lightweight when applied on skin. It's not sticky and does not feel slick/oily. It dries quickly and leaves a certain cooling effect when it dries.

The only downside to this product is the smell. It smells like new tupperware... a little irritating to the nose at first... but the smell only last for a few seconds so I guess it's ok (unless you have heightened sense of smell).

Dawn had used this weeks before I started and she's noticed how it has reduced the appearances of blemishes and break outs in her face. I also noticed that her post-blemish marks have faded and wanted to try it as well.
I've used it twice now and I've seen how it has reduced my tiny pimples... you know, the ones that just feel like they're there, but are never red or filled with pus... they're just there making bumps on your skin... nasty little creatures...
I have plenty of those in my forehead... and I have a BIG forehead... so yeah... it's a BIG concern as well.
Also, since shifting exams are just right around the corner and tests are coming in bulk due to frequent suspension of classes (not that I'm complaining... I actually like it)... I've been having a lot of break outs every day (like 1 new pimple per day). This has helped reduce them... since I've not seen a new one for the past 2 days. Plus it also helped in healing my recently-popped ones (not that I pop them) and started-healing ones.

It is a bit pricey though... more or less 800 pesos. But if you buy now, they slash 200 off and if you're an LYB member you get another 10% off; so for now it's within the budget.

What I like:
packaging
lightweight
dries quickly
reduces post-blemish marks and discolouration
reduces appearances of blemishes
helps keep break outs at bay
helps hasten healing of current break outs

What I don't like:
smell...

I guess I got more out of the product than what the product had promised me. :) The Body Shop released a number of products using Tea Tree specifically for blemished skins. I do want to try all of them but my budget does not permit me. So for those who can, do try them and tell us what your experience was.

Also, for those with Ipod Touch, Iphones and Ipads, try and get your LYB membership digitalized and for those who aren't members yet with the mentioned gadgets, we encourage you to do so as well. Not only do you get to enjoy the perks of membership but you also get to contribute in the effort to save Mother Earth. :)

Cheers,
LIZ

The Body Shop : Love Your Body Loves Green - Go Virtual!

 Hello Lovelies!

Do you love The Body Shop products?
Are you Love Your Body members like I am?

Well, I'm happy to announce that The Body Shop is encouraging us, Love Your Body members, and those who are planning to become a member to go Virtual!
As most of you may know, one of TBS' core values is to take care of Mother Earth so they want to lessen the usage of plastic and turn their membership cards to something virtual instead!

DID YOU KNOW?
PVC is the most used material for membership, loyalty, or credit cards. On average 36 grams of CO2 is generated for every plastic card produced. Globally, over 10 billion plastic cards are produced every year for marketing purposes. Hence, 50 million kilograms of plastic waste and 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions are generated. To counter the CO2 effects of card production, we need at least 9.2 million trees.

Just look how much a simple shift can help our environment??
But for now, only MAC products such as IPad, IPhone and ITouch can get the app but in two months time, the android smartphones can download it as well!

The Body Shop invited us to attend Love Your Body Loves Green Program in MOA last Saturday, so that we can go green and go virtual! It's such a really good cause and it's also convenient for us since I think we always carry around our phones and some gadgets nowadays.

I was excited to go but I don't have the gadget for it. Good thing Liz has an IPad now! Yay!
When we got to the location, you will see the shop decorated with their new program and products!

Shifting to a virtual card is very easy!

Just access the internet, download Perkd (If you're not aware of what Perkd is, it's somewhat like your virtual card holder... it's said that it's one of the most used app nowadays)...

Pick The Body Shop Love Your Body, Philippines...

Complete the necessary details...

And voila! I have myself a Virtual Card!

Now I can be proud and say that I got involved in a good cause to save our Mother Earth! ♥

The Body Shop Philippines is also the first-ever TBS market in the Asia-Pacific to adopt this kind of technology that enables its members to conveniently access their LYB membership/ rewards programme anytime, anywhere.

On the other hand, The Body Shop also introduced to us their new makeup products!

So off to the makeup station we go!!

Meet The Body Shop's All-in-One Makeup Line and Their new Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer (I actually bought one already a few days back). :P

Liz and I got our makeovers to be one of the first few people to try out the products! Yeeey!

Here's Morning,TBS' makeup artist, applying the new BB cream on me. The BB Cream looks amazing! It's color started as white then blends to your skin tone as you apply it.

Morning and Dawn! We're like sisters in names!

And of course, we posed with our dear makeup artist! Thank you for making us pretty that day, Morning! ♥

Will post more about the products in future posts!
The Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer is already available in all The Body Shop stores while The All-in-One Makeup will be available by August 10! ♥

And there were snacks!!! Yayyyy!

The yummy cupcakes were present!
Liz loved the crinkles while I just can't get enough of the White Choco chip cookies!! ♥

Our adopted sister, Helen, is also in the event!!

and before the event ended, we also posed with the beautiful girls of The Body Shop!
The sisters with Angel, Danica, Nicole and Helen.

We went home with goodies too!

We got the All-in-One makeup and a Tea Tree Pore Minimiser Primer! They were so sweet to ask for our exact shade before putting the items in the goody bag! Thank you so much, The Body Shop! Can't wait to try them out!
(If you want a review of a certain product soon, comment below!) ♥

The day was wonderful for Liz and I. We helped a good cause to protect Mother Earth, got a makeover, tried out new products and even got to take some home! Lovely, lovely day indeed!

I really do think that this is a wise and thoughtful move by The Body Shop.
Their ways to help communities and our planet is what makes me proud that I am an LYB member. I know how plastics can be harmful to our environment and shifting to a virtual card is a really good way to reduce plastic waste. It may be something very simple but just imagine if more brands do this, think how much it would help our planet, right?

Cheers!

MAC Glaze Lipstick in 1N

A nice rainy weekend to you all!

The sisters have a very busy weekend scheduled so we will just share with you a quick swatch post for this Saturday night.

Liz has a brand new lipstick!
And because she loves her very kikay best friend, she gave me first dibs to try it out!
Well, actually, I have the better camera and lighting for the swatch post so she lets me have dibs on most of her products. I just don't know why she doesn't use them yet before I take the pictures... probably so they still look pretty and untouched? Anyway, I am very happy that I get to 'deflower' her new items. Haha!

So today's swatch post is...

MAC Glaze Lipstick in 1N

I believe it is also one of Liz's loots from her aunts in Canada.

Here's the lipstick. It's kind of a sheer champagne-ish color.

A swatch on my hand

And finally, here's a picture of my bare lips and below it is a pic of my lips with the product on.

It's a sheer nude color. Quite nice in a simple look or a smokey look. It's not something I adore though. But it's cute nonetheless. :P

That's about it for MAC Glaze Lipstick in 1N.
Will post about what got us busy this week soon! Stay tuned!

Makeup Experiment #06 : My Boy Version

 Hello peeps!

Have you ever wondered what you would look like if you were your opposite gender?
I did! So I experimented with my hair and makeup to see for myself!

I actually wanted to do this experiment long ago but I don't know if I could pull it off. But one night I just went for it!

I'm surprised I did the look faster than I expected.

1. Start with a clean face, of course. Then I tied my hair into a bun.
2. Start contouring face to make the face features stronger. Start with cheekbones and jaw line.
3. I added more brown shadows around my eyes to make it appear deep set. I even attempted to add a clef chin.
4. Finally, using a black liner, I added facial hair and thickened my eyebrows.

And here are the photos!
I made them in black and white since they look better that way. It just looks strange when they're colored.

Haha! I'm a bit embarrassed of the pictures actually.
I feel like I look like a big, creepy guy. LOL

Anyway, that's it for this experiment!

 Cheers!

Review : The Body Shop Lily Cole Pearl Radiance Primer

 Hi guys! :D

My face makeup is very important to me. If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you'd know that I usually have full makeup on. I have acne-prone skin and I really hate seeing pimples and pimple marks on my face when I go out. So besides looking for a foundation with a very good coverage and oil control, I also want them to last!

I do have some of those foundations and BB creams that last a long while but why not pump their lasting power more by using primers, right?
I have tried and reviewed a few makeup primers and recently, I have been fond of trying different ones out. Some I bought, some were given to me. Most of them gave positive results and I want to share them with you. I even have around 3 more pending reviews of different primers to post. :P

For today's post, it's all about...
The Body Shop Lily Cole Pearl Radiance Primer

This one was given to me during the opening of The Body Shop's Pulse Store in MOA.
During that event, the Lily Cole Makeup Collection was also introduced to us.

What's good about the makeup collection is it's cruelty-free which means it was never tested on animals... and that it is mostly pinks and purples! ♥

The primer costs Php1,295.00.

What the product says:

These radiant, light-diffusing pearls give skin a pure radiance. Use them before you use your
foundation or just on its own. In just one step, your skin is hydrated and your complexion perfected.

Perfect and illuminate your complexion with this pearlescent make-up base. It gets its shimmer from mineral mica.

  ♥  Adds radiance
♥   Use before foundation or alone
♥   Dermatologically tested
 ♥   Gives a flawless finish
♥    Limited edition
The first time I saw the bottle, I thought it looked very pretty with all the pink pearls. I even thought that it was just a design because I was looking at it from a few feet away. When I heard that the pearls really come out to add shimmer, I was surprised! It made me so excited to try the product out! :)

So on with my review...

The product comes in a pump dispenser. I like it because it is easy to take out the product and that it is very hygienic. The bottle is clear too so you can see how much of the product is left.

Here's what it look like when you pump the product out:
It doesn't really look like what I expected honestly... I thought it would look prettier. :P

It has a scent. I can't be specific of what it smells like... it's not annoying but it's not something I'd like... best adjective I can think of is it smells clean. :P

My main issue when I swatched it was the blending part. It was tedious to blend since you have to rub it over and over because the shimmers are clumped together.

Here's what it looked like after blending.
The shimmers are very fine and when topped with a foundation or BB cream, give a subtle, radiant finish on your skin.

The pearl shimmers stick to my fingers too when I blend it. I tried using a brush but it doesn't help at all. But you still get good results on your face anyway so this isn't really an issue. :)

It dries on your skin fast so no long waiting time for it to set.
I use this under my BB cream and a setting powder and I still see a few of those fine pearl shimmers that made my skin look glowing which I really like. It made my makeup last longer too. ♥

I would like it to have more oil control though. Compared to some of my primers, it doesn't help my oily skin. It doesn't minimize pores either. :P

LIKES:

♥ Shimmers are very fine
♥ Love the packaging
♥ Makes my makeup last longer
♥ Cruelty-free
♥ Locally Available
♥ Pearly, radiant finish

DISLIKES:
♥ Can be quite expensive
♥ Tedious to blend on skin
♥ I prefer more oil control and pore minimizing primers

This primer, I believe, is more suitable for people who have clearer skin than I do because they can wear it alone or with less makeup on which can make the pearly shimmers more visible that make their skin more radiant because it won't be blocked off by the coverage of foundations (especially the ones I use since I prefer heavy coverage foundies).

So would I buy this again? No and the reason is what I stated above.
It's a good primer but not for my skin type.

Have you tried The Body Shop's Lily Cole Pearl Radiance Primer? How about other products from the Lily Cole Limited Edition Makeup Collection?

Cheers!

NOTD: Gradient and Glittery

 Hey guys!

Like what I said in my former NOTD post, I'm currently in the mood for glittery nail polish.
So here's another one that I'm sporting this week:

Gradient and Glittery

As some of you may notice, I'm fond of purples (though not really my all time favorite color). I like it on my nails, as eyeshadows, on my clothes, accessories, etc.

The glitters and colors remind me of my Caboodles set when I was a kid. I wish I still have it so I could have shown you the similarities.

Here are the nail polishes I used for the NOTD:

Sorry if the polishes are messy. One of them leaked and made a mess in my nail polish kit. Huhuhu. T_T

I actually really like this NOTD. It's quite easy to do as long as you have a trusty sponge you can use to blend the colors with. I used an old makeup sponge for this one.
I like staring at my nails a lot nowadays because of the colors. They seem to blend so well and they just look so pretty and so girly! ♥

What do you think of my NOTD?
Any ideas you can share for another glittery post?

Cheers!
